The bottom like is that Cortez is a dirty referee.
Joe Cortez had absolutely no idea what had happened when he turned his head to find Victor on the canvas. For all he knew, Floyd could have kicked him in the nuts. He counted him out anyway.
This is blatant bias by a judge that may or may not have been paid off. Please do note that he did exactly the same thing this fight as in the Hatton fight; breaking up perfectly legitimate infighting scenarios.
He ignored the facts that Pac has all the attributes to neutralize and advantages Floyd may got.
That's speculation. The best defensive counter-puncher specialist Manny has fought was Juan Manuel, who gave him endless trouble... And Mayweather is a lot better than Marquez on those fronts, and indeed shut out Marquez completely.
No, they aren't facts... They are wild exaggerations. Not to mention the over-the-top language... what about "going at him in frightening pace without any mercy in every round", "He will able to close the gap in blink of an eye between him and Floyd to deliver his combinations and get out"... Heh.
You're talking about things "missing from other opponents of Floyd", right?
Power? Shane Mosley is a harder hitter.
Chin? Manny has been knocked out twice while Floyd has never been seriously hurt, and again, Mosley has a better chin than Manny.
Hand speed? I'd argue Judah had around the same hand speed when Floyd fought him.
"Pac has many experience fighting bigger, taller with reach advantages (Oscar, Hatton, Cotto, Clottey, Mosley, Margarito)"? Manny had a reach advantage on Hatton and the same reach as Cotto. Oh, yes, Margarito and Oscar had definite advantages over him in that department, but no offense, your listing of names makes you come off as a bit ignorant.
I could go on...
Really? Pac fought Marquez first twice in his best weight division. Floyd was not and enjoyed a 10 lbs advantage or more during the fight. Pac tko, ko, wide UD and retired Oscar, Hatton and Mosley. It should meant something as well like when Floyd beat Marquez, right?Irrelevant.
The version of Oscar that fought Chavez would decision Floyd if he could not knock him out (Floyd is a good survivor with a good chin), and he'd beat Manny to a pulp.
Back in those days De La Hoya had twice the speed of the shell that fought these two fighters. Good footwork, underrated jab, fluent combinations, murderous left hook. Manny wouldn't be able to get in enough. Floyd would lose the battle of the jabs to a person with much better reach - in fact, the times Oscar had success versus Floyd, it was with the jab, I remember Hopkins hollering to him all night to jab more - and Oscar would have too much power for Floyd to handle, plus a good enough chin to not have to respect Floyd's punches too much.
I don't think either fight would be close, honestly.
Well...
First of all I think Bradley got a gift against Pacquaio. I had Manny winning by a margin. I don't see a rematch playing out differently. Manny will never be able to stop Tim, he's too durable. It'll go to the scorecards and then there will be controversy.
Second, I think that even the best version of Manny doesn't stand a chance versus Floyd. Floyd is too tough. Too good chin, physically stronger than Pac, and too good defense. Floyd is a nightmare opponent for Pac. I think he'd make him look silly.
Third, I have no idea what would happen with another Marquez fight. I could see Juan getting knocked out. He's getting old. That's what people tend to forget here. These guys are ALL past their primes. There's no question Marquez is the more skilled fighter; he has better defense, more technical skills. He's slower, though. We'll see when it happens.
What tells me more than anything else is that Floyd absolutely schooled Marquez. Hell, Juan didn't win a round in my book. And that is despite that Marquez is about as smart and proficient as they come. Yet Manny has struggled with him every single fight; he got gifted a decision or two and then the last one he got stretched.
I don't know really why the fight has never been made. I feel we will never see Pac vs Floyd. If we do I can only see either a UD for Floyd or a late TKO or something. I don't think Pac has the power or skills to hurt him.
Just my two cents.
The guy had been knocked out a couple of times so clearly his chin is crackable. Don't know what's so hard to understand about that. It's seemed to get better with age though, but still not iron clad. I think however that he is very physically durable and not likely to get worn down unless he's completely outclassed. It takes a murder punch to finish him off.
The Bradley decision was a joke. I think we can all agree on that.
I can't see that Tim has improved too much. I also cannot see how Pac will stop him. Could be wrong, but Tim's kinda smart, and especially if Pac stays to the style vs Rios there's no way.
Another thing is that Tim could probably land one thousand punches on Manny without Manny feeling a thing, unless he suddenly goes completely shot. It amazes me how a guy with so little power can effectively be a top dog in the division.
Summary, scorecard, and probably Manny will win because the judges won't want to repeat the embarrassment from last fight. I really wonder if the fix was in on that. There's simply no way Tim outscored him.
I think this is called "revisionist history".
Admit it. You all knew, before the announcement, that Manny had lost.
Manny did. His trainers did. His coach did. Marquez did. Every soul in the arena did.
Hell, even the judges knew he lost.
Strong? And well-connected, too.
I just saw the HBO broadcast. The commentators took note of about every tenth meaningful blow from Juan, while they were busy sucking Manny's cock for every half-miss he ever threw.
Oscar de La Hoya fit the mold perfectly of a taller guy with boxing skills, and he had an ATG jab
Oscar still couldn't win more than 3 roundsOscar was shot.
... and this post, from a person with the nickname "lolage! pwnage!" should probably be taken just as seriously as the original article?
Go eat Manny's dick, please.
people get so entrenched in their original ideas that they fail to even look at the evidence again in a fair manner. pac won round 2. he landed at least twice as many punches and he landed a couple real good punches while marquez only landed 1 hard punch and a couple decent but not super clean shots.MANNY knew he lost that round. But you don't...
