Holy $hit its me who screwed up. I need to read more carefully, though I would have thought this thread would have been in the boxing history section, I appologiize to anyone who took offence, my comments were about Jr not Sr
as far as I knew the thread was about JCC Jr. All of my comments were directed that way. I would have never said that about his father! Steak did you make an honest mistake?
Steak, name the quality opponent JCC has fought? I merely stated that given the opposition its hard to tell if he has good defence. Because we don't agree about Curry, you insult me?
JCC was the best fighter in the world for a number of years, and an ATG. saying he never fought a quality opponent is a retarded statement.
heres the notable opposition Chavez beat:

and thats not taking into account the guys he lost to, ie De La Hoya, Whitaker and Kostya Tsyzu.
saying he never fought quality opposition is absolutely laughable.

very hard to tell considering he's never fought a quality opponent
you are an absolute joke. this is much like your stupid statement regarding Curry's opposition.
Chavez is very underrated defensively. its annoying when people act like he was some no skill brawler who took punches to land them. Its very difficult to continually initiate action and come forward while maintaining defense, and Chavez was excellent in that catagory.
Theres a reason why Chavez would go into 'wars' all the time, and yet he was almost never beaten up at the end while his opponent, despite throwing about the same number of punches or more, would be destroyed. It wasnt always flashy or easy to see, but Chavez was very good defensively, and even when he got hit it was usually on the top of the head, and he rolled with punches very well too.
also he was very efficient. He only used slight head movements and block positioning, he wouldnt exaggerate each movement and waste energy. good thing too since the guy was a very heavy drinker.
