None for me. Like you I was still a toddler for tyson-holyfield or tyson-lewis. I imagine that was huge. I wasn't really that hyped for de la hoya-mayweather because I wasn't a fan of either.
It's going to be an agonizing 2 1/2 months from now till may 2nd. The days will seem like years I reckon.
This site turned so stupidly on Thurman after Bundu. I can't wait to see him beat Guerrero into the ground and have everyone trying to jump back on the bandwagon.
Oh you know that's happening. It's very hard to look good against a former olympian who is throwing more feints than punches. With Guerrero he will have a guy who will come to fight.
I think most casual fans don't even know yet. After that initial huge press conference before the promo tours, the hype will start and just snowball until fight night.
**** just realized the fight is actually just over 2 months away. Hope it goes by quick.
If Guerrero comes in with that caveman **** against thurman he gets KO'ed and unfortunately for him I have a hard time seeing him outbox a faster and stronger boxer in thurman. Basically I give guerrero a very slim chance to win.
I mean do people actually think that guerrero who showed up against freaking berto even beats thurman? LOL and that was guerrero's best form and win to date. People thinking guerrero can rough up a stronger puncher with faster feet than him are crazy.
Don't get me wrong guerrero is a good fighter and a very tough guy but style wise this is a terrible match up for him so props to him for taking on thurman.
I like Maidana, but we cant give him passes for this and kill others.
It's crazy though, how far out of shape these guys can get though.
As a amateur I totally understand why and how. It's no fun restricting yourself from the bad food you love for weeks when you have a fight coming up. After the fight guys who like to eat like me binge eat LOL. Chino seems that type.
Danny looks like a wounded animal. Of course Broner will call him out. MOVEMENT, beats Garcia. He doesn't know how to properly cut off the ring. Actually I can only think of 3 or 4 fighters who know how to cut off the ring correctly. Why is this such a rare trait?
Yeah but garcia pretty much won most of those rounds were he couldn't " cut off the ring ".
And it's really not as easy as people think. First of all to cut off the ring you would have to take risks and you would have to be offensive minded so basically defensive minded fighters will never be effective cutting off the ring because that's not just them.
The only two really that can cut off the ring right now is GGG and Kovalev. And those two are extremely offensive fighters with skill.
I like how stephen pressed mayweather about doing something he hasn't done in years (the wood chopping). Floyd knows what he is up against. He knows pac's style will require him to dig deep.
LOL at fanboys saying this will be easy for floyd. It it was it would have happened 5 years ago. Pac UD.
He will counter the cr4p out of the clumsy robotic Kovalev.
Slow, no head movement, pathetic balance, constantly pulling back in straight lines.
Stevenson will K.O him in 3-4. Kovalev has regressed and looks like a 45yr old fighter.
Not sure if serious.... or just clueless about boxing. It won't be an easy fight but kovalev would definitely be the favorite.
WTF did I just read? Do you know what you're watching?
I'm pretty sure they don't. I don't even pay attention who holds these belts. I judge by my eyes who I feel is the best in the division. I have no clue who holds what belt. Even my favorite fighters I don't know what belt they have nor do I care.
How they gonna make that kind of money doe? I mean unless cotto fights mayweather, pac and canelo with a 50% split in those 3 fights I fail to see how they can pay him that much against anyone else. Does not make any sense to me.
That's roughly $17M a fight. He didn't even earn close to that against mayweather.
Good move by floyd. Judah is one the fastest southpaw out there besides pac. However judah is not going to prepare mayweather with pac's aggression and activity, Judah's shot and can't pull the trigger nowadays.
You do not understand what I said about the punching bag.
The punching fast, flashy and moving around is not going to work on a moving target who's not there to be hit. You have to have something to hit to do all that, that's when the punching bag comes in.
Did you see Ricky Hatton hitting the punching bag for the Pacquiao fight? He scared me, he was vicious. Guess what? Pacquiao is not the punching bag. So none of that vicious, fast, power punching and ducking/dodging in front of a punching bag worked in the ring.
You said it doesn't translate when it clearly does. It's training ones body to be able to punch while on the move, conditioning the right muscles. Pac's a volume puncher that moves in and out and his bag work shows that. Meaning yes it does translate. You fight how you train.
You probably think mayweather's paddy cake routine on the pads with roger is just for show?
I see they caught them in two different points of their training. Floyd looks more like he's warming up, while Pacquiao looks like he's going all out.
Not criticizing or anything, but my first day in the boxing gym I punched the bag like Pacquiao was and the main trainer in the gym told me you don't hit the punching bag that hard and fast, you have to slow down. Every boxer I saw punching the bag after me was doing it slow paced and taking their time. The punching bag doesn't hit back, so all that flashy, fast, moving around stuff will not translate into the real fight.
Honestly though, it's just way more fun doing it like Pacquiao, whether it's not fundamentally correct or not. When I hit the bag, I like seeing how fast I can pull off combinations. First I do them slow then keep repeating the combos faster and faster.
LOL yeah it does. You train how you fight. To be fair you're right mayweather looks like he is warming up or cooling down.
But back to the bolded part. If you train slow then you are going to be slow LOL. Watch how Adrien Broner hits the bag or the pads. Very quick with his hands but stands in one spot. You watch him in a fight and he doesn't know what the **** to do when he is on the move because he is not trained to punch while moving. That's why he is so flat footed.
He got hurt bad in the second round and had to fight pac off him. He was also getting beat up in the 3rd and again had to fight pac off him.
People here make it seem like pac's aggression didn't have anything to do with the way bradley had to fight. 1st round was probably tim's but 2nd and 3rd round he was already getting caught while BOXING and had to adjust and he felt that fighting pac off him was the best option in that instance instead of steeping back. He should have held pac more instead of trading.
It's tough to contain a guy like pac if you don't have marquez's style lol.
Lol at these armchair experts critiquing Pacquiao's heavy bag work.
I dare anyone in here to hit the bag while constantly on the move for 1 min like Pac.... No wonder pacs' cardio is insane while maintaining a crazy pace for 12 rounds. Dude is a freak of nature when it comes to his cardio.
The closer the fight gets the more I think this will be a toss up fight. Pascal is a very unorthodox fighter. I can see him hurting kovalev bad maybe even dropping kovalev due to kovalev aggression. 60/40 to kovalev for me.
