It seems like the people that thought Ortiz was way ahead had him pitching a shut out the fist 4 rounds.
Wilder clearly won round 2 even despite the ref waving off his knock down, 3-4 was a toss up with no clear winner. There were no 10-8 rounds for Ortiz.
Either way the right man was ahead, Wilder did get robbed of that knock down. I also noticed the commentators not acknowledging some of Wilder's repeated right hands but were going ape shyt over Ortiz' missed punches.
On point with both of these.
Azumah Nelson was a great fighter on his resume.
Chavez was a clear win.
Ramirez, Vasquez, McGirt, Mayweather, Pendleton, Haugen etc weren't great fighters but all very good, top level guys.
How the OP just glazed passed these names is incredible.

FOX the prior Sat night drew a prime time Network rating of 1.153M viewers simply by airing old episodes of Lethal Weapon and The Resident which air new episodes on Mondays and Tuesdays. Fact PBC is more expensive programming just to finish dead last in ratings performing worst then what the Networks draw with reruns. That's why NBC didn't give PBC a tv deal and PBC knows FOX won't either which is why they are giving them crap fights until their time buy is over.
Quick question: Using your own graphic, it looks like CBS’ ‘Crimetime Saturday’ shows (whatever the hell that is) drew equal ratings as the NBA game featuring the heavily star studded and defending world champion GS Warriors.
Considering that (IIRC) ESPN/ABC pays 1.4 Billion per year for the rights to broadcast NBA games, do you think they too should stop ‘wasting money’ on it when they too could probably draw equal ratings with their own re-runs also? I mean, by YOUR OWN logic, that would be the fiscally responsible thing to do, no?
Thank you in advance for your response.
Look he had a draw with Chavez who some think he won now he didn't fight the best of Chavez who was a coked out alcoholic at the time but if Chavez is consider one of the all time greats than you have to add Whitaker to that list. What he accomplished as a Gold medalist and 4 world titles is no hype job
By all accounts, so was Sweet Pea at the time. And he still schooled JCC.
Floyd sr is one of the best, if not the best trainer in the world today.
what he has done speaks for itself. people trying to take away credit for his sons achievments are just silly to me. yes, Floyd was very talented. but you still need someone to harness that talent. besides, nobody is born with skills and Floyd jr's skills are his his greatest assets. in addition to his mind, which i think he also got in part from his father bringing him up the way he did (for better and for worse).
Chad Dawson was at his best with Floyd sr, DLH credits him as the best trainer he has ever had and DLH worked with a bunch of great trainers.
the thing about sr is he has a very, let's call it special personality that doesnt blend well with everyone. he seems to have mellowed out a bit in recent years though. but for a long time that was an issue, i know Chad left him because he didnt like the way Floyd sr would speak to him, saying he would call him a retard and stuff like that (lol).
but the job he did before that speaks for itself. as does the work with jr and DLH. he really improved DLHs defense and his right hand without taking away what made him good in the first place.
whatever someone wrote about him teaching everyone the shoulder roll and changing their style is simply not true. he adds to their style, obviously from his perspective of how someone should fight. but i think he views things quite right. only thing he forces on people is a good jab, defense, good foot positioning, patience and an emphasis on speed. not necessarily over power but rather to set it up. common sense basics in other words.
This right here.
In spite of Foreman spending the whole fight b!tching about Oscar needing to go back to his ‘old style’, those hard and accurate right hands ODLH threw against Vargas eventually turned that fight around (and set up that left hook) And that, along with the much better upper body movement, was all Mayweather Sr.
IMO, ODLH’s most complete performance.
And people forget how good Dawson looked under him.
Only on Boxing Scene do people going from "Not Caring About This Exhibition" only to watch it and try to make it more than a Exhibition
Kid just wanted to survive and not get embarrassed and salute to him that is what he did he used his size and Held and Hugged his way to the End.
Floyd does need to retire from Exhibitions too, he still sharp at times but yeah of course at 44 he is not the same. If he does continue with Exhibitions then fight guys his size or more close to his size
The list of folks in this thread complaining about an exhibition is like the BoxingScene Ring-Of-Fame of ‘alleged’ Mayweather haters.
I say alleged because they follow that mans every move more than his so-called ‘fanboys’ ever do. It’s sad.
People will never give guys like Ward and Crawford a fair shake. I also think it's funny that they all desperately try to point to stupid little things as evidence of their alleged bad character, but meanwhile they call Canelo an upstanding man when he failed multiple drug tests, ducks the top threats in all this divisions, weight drains and weight bullies people, and all that ****.
Don’t forget his (alleged) role in assaulting a 108 lb Archie Solis over a girl too.
Y'all said y'all hated Floyd because of this, but now you have Crawford, who is humble, quiet, exudes class, is a great father and family man, and you still hate his guts. Stop with the hypocrisy.
Yup. Same with Andre Ward prior.
Do you think this GGG ducked Ward thing
the biggest nonsense in the sport of boxing?
I mean, they're not on the same division.
Most fighters who move up are allowed to fight bums
for their debut fights in the next division.
Case in point is Ward himself.
Charlo fought a one-legged opponent in Heiland.
Broner fought semi-retired Malignaggi.
Garcia fought Juda, on and on and on and on...
Yet Glovkin has to fight the #1 P4P in the division?
Is this a joke or what?
And yet GGG (and his fans) seem to have no problem when he fought a career WW debuting at MW in Kell Brook.
Hilarious
Was Tarver ranked P4P in 06?
I highly doubt it tbh.
The other two are correct.
Article prior to Hopkins fight of Tarver complaining about his lack of respect for his P4P ranking
Article: Tarver says he's underrated on pound-for-pound list
"You mention Jermain Taylor, and when you look at the pound-for-pound list -- as mythical as it may be -- nobody has me ranked as high as 10," bristles Tarver, though The Ring magazine does have him at No. 8 on their current pound-for-pound list.
"I think it's a slap in my face that people do not recognize my talents and my ability. And now I'm fighting a guy like Bernard Hopkins, and it's supposed to be a mismatch. I'm gonna prove to everybody that I'm not Jermain Taylor. But at the same time, Jermain Taylor is ranked at four, five, or six in most people's pound-for-pound list.
"People know my ability, they know my talents, and they know my capabilities -- why are they being so naïve and blind when they know I'm one of the most talented fighters in the world today? Winky Wright is one or two pound-for-pound, coming off what some people think was a questionable decision against a no-name fighter in his last outing.
"I don't understand it. I beat every guy that I ever faced. I knocked out the great Roy Jones Jr. I defeated handily the fighter of the year in 2004 , and I get no credit for those victories. So my thing is this -- I won't be appreciated until I step away from the game.
I think Canelo is a good comparison he's just not as fluid or fleet of foot as Floyd. Also Canelo is not as impressive to watch defensively, I do find it interesting that Canelo is more influenced by the Mayweather style than Mexican style.
Canelo is alot of things, but dumb aint one of 'em.
so by that token richard schaeffer is really to be given the credit for canelo alvarez...
Nah, using the logic of this thread, that credit goes to All Star Boxing, who brought Alvarez to the States.
That's exactly why he's top of the list. You said "HERO" to zero.
Remember, Spinks was at the top of the game when he got blown out by Tyson, then tucked tail and quit the business, went into hiding for over a decade.
This doesn't take away what he accomplished. One of my favorite fighters. But you asked, who went to ZERO after being a HERO?
Douglas would go on to fight and win some.
Rahman went on to fight and win some.
McCall - I still say that was mob related and not really him on that one, but I don't know for sure. What I do know is that he would go on to fight and win some.
So by my definition those are not "zeroes". I can't even Naseem Hamed a "zero" by that definition because he won one more fight after losing.
Michael Spinks was at the top, lost, disappeared. That's a hero to zero if I ever saw one.
Using your logic, Hagler is a better answer than Spinks.
He basically ‘tucked tail and quit the business, went into hiding for over a decade’ by moving to Italy and doing movies.
Hagler wasn't blown out in dominant, embarrassing fashion like the others we're talking about.
But he was the #1 ranked P4P fighter in the world and a 3-1 betting favorite who lost to a guy coming off a one fight in about 3 years layoff AND one who had never fought at the weight.
By your logic, simply losing under those circumstances, while being ‘embarrassred’ by being shoe shined, bolo punched and ‘styled on’ by the smaller fighter (and then subsequently ‘tucking tail’) makes him the bigger ‘hero to zero’.
Tyson has that intimidation factor that was marketed really well meanwhile deontay Wilder in order to be intimidating has to look like a super shredder. Tyson also looked the part; muscular thick strong mean looking and Wilder is a tall dude with chicken legs.
So was Tommy Hearns. And no one ever questioned the Hitman's 'intimidation factor'.
huh??????????????
Roy Jones Lost To Tarver Intentionally?
By Mark Vester
It was reported within the Pensacola News Journal, that Roy Jones, Jr. is blaming his third defeat to Antonio Tarver on his father, Roy Jones, Sr., but the blame game was not the only thing Jones had to say.
In a recent press conference bombshell, Jones told reporters that he did not win the third meeting with Antonio Tarver, because he did not want his father, who was his trainer for the trilogy bout, to get all the credit for the win.
"You want the truth? I'll tell you the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth. If I go on and win that fight, who gets the glory? Not me. Not God, said Jones. All the glory would've went to Roy Jones Sr., and he didn't deserve it. Where was he the last eight or nine years. Now, would that've been right?"
"If I win the fight, my father gets all the glory. That's all anybody would've talked about ... not the guy who'd got me there (longtime trainer Alton Merkerson). I didn't realize that until we were five rounds into the fight, and then you wouldn't believe what I had to deal with after that."
It should be noted that Jones never actually said he intentionally lost the bout, but many writers in the media are interpreting what Jones said in that type of fashion, by what one writer called "reading between the lines."
Jones, returns to the ring on July 29 in a pay-per-view battle with unknown light heavyweight Prince Badi Ajamu.

Big Dunny going on 4+ Years hoping for PBC to fail
Always the first to report / comment on something bad about PBC
Always ghost when PBC has success
Hilarious!

It's crazy how this "anti-Spence" thing built up. They need a star to hate so I guess they chose him.
The fight was a beautiful DOG fight. The "spence exposed" narrative shown ignorance because the guy did EXACTLY what you do against a guy like Porter. You don't spend all your energy because then you're playing his game. You do just enough to take rounds and stay fresh. I thought Spence really showed why he's the best in the division.
Of course he wouldn't fight other guys this way and people making those conclusions are dumb AF.
Agreed.
Clearly they dont realize Spence actually enjoys the infighting and sticking his nose in there like that. and at some point, every Porter fight will devolve into a phone booth fight.
Like I said: hilarious.
The comments thread here was so laughable. When I read shyt like that, I feel embarrassed to come here. Spence knew exactly what he was doing. Crybabys and fools gonna cry, cry, cry thick.
It was hilarious.
Same with the commentary. Goosen skeeting on himself over a blood trickle ‘cut’. Reminded me of HBOs erection over Mayweather bloody nose against Cotto.
These cats too busy setting up their anti-Spence/PBC narrative that they can’t even enjoy a great competitive fight.
Sad.
High volume and ultra conditioned brawlers with solid chins. Maidana and margarito wouldve been a NIGHTMARE for spence. But i'm sure Ol' uncle Al woulda rigged those judges for lil errol too...
And yet Spence still dropped him and was the fresher and more aggressive fighter in the ‘Championship Rounds’.
But whatever make you feel better
Now every boxer and boxing fan uses that word to describe really good boxers.
Mick called Clubber Lang a ‘killer’ in Rocky III. That was in 1982.
Term been around boxing (real and fictional) for a LONG time.

Hurd isn't overrated. How do you overrate a fighter like Hurd? He's a champion because he's big, strong and is a good body puncher. He isn't your typical pure boxer...he's a fighter and he throws a hard jab, takes a good shot and isn't bad defensively. And he never tires. He will have to raise his game against Charlo though. He went southpaw against Trout and that's when the fight changed. That was smart. Once Hurd knows that you can't hurt him, he puts on the hurt.
This right here. The kid is strong, continues to press forward, believes in his chin and his power, fights with heart, and works the body early with the results showing in the 2nd half of fights.
Might be the most relaxed fighter in the ring right now.
Hurd = ‘Mexican style’ (at least as most fans describe it on this forum)
