You're basing this all on Canelos ability which I think you might have placed too much stock in since you downplayed Bivols win over him, stated it was due to size and not skill which couldn't be further from the truth.
You're not wrong in saying Plant is underrated offensively and defensively. I was one of the few that predicted Plant had the ability to KO Dirrell but Canelo isn't Benavidez and vice versa. We can go on about the differences of the 2 but I think your bias for Mexican boxers is honestly clouding your judgment here. Plant does have the ability to get on his back foot and use his crisp counters and footwork, there's a reason he requested a 22ft ring, and box to a controversial decision....but KO"ing a light heavy like Benavidez?? Highly unlikely...
Very good/interesting matchup that has be scratching my head as to why Colberts team agreed to it. I think the matchup favors Rayo, not to say he's a shoe in to win,but I'd say his liabilities are less likely to get exposed than vice versa.
Jose paid dearly thinking he was going to continue banging everyone out while he his defense took a beat seat but he can still crack and has above average power, timing and reflexes. Don't think Colberts "flash" or boxing ability,is any better than Jose's either so I don't think Colbert can just sit on the outside and trying to win exchanges with the longer fighter either. Does he get on his bike and try to fight off his back foot and stink out the joint?
Hard to envision a scenario that favors Colbert here and may, more than likely to me,just end up as bad a matchmaking decision for him as Santos was for Rayo.
Rayo by late stoppage imo.Should be a good fight and an intriguing one regardless.
It DOESNT take the "shine" off Canelos career but it does of the Plant win and will be a good barometer of the twos ability or in Davids case, potential ability. Of course its not the end all be all but what better benchmark to compare one another than against common opponents? Especially when these match-ups took place within a few years and all 3 fighters are in or were near their primes?
I see a few here already have the "but this was canelos umpteenth division" card in their back pocket ready to discredit a more impressive win by David, should it happen. What they fail to see or acknowledge is Canelo was, and still is,having to cut significant weight at 175,let alone 168. I'd say probably nearly as much as David. Canelos build is drastically different than that of David's but they're not as far apart in weight classes one wants to believe.
There's a reason Canelo will probably never fight David, and it isnt because hes "Mexican"....which he's not by the way. Hes as much "Mexican" as he is American,Dominican and Ecuadorian.
Maidana was better. Matthysse was glorified journeyman, he always came up short in big fights.
Still makes me laugh how was he seen as a boogeyman at 140 before Garcia beat his ass. Postol knocked him out and he looked like a crap against Pacquiao also.
Nobody ever stopped Maidana, was he even dropped? He arguably beat Mayweather.
He nearly got stopped by a brutal bodyshot from amir khan that would've stopped 99.9% of every other boxer on this planet. To recover from that shot should've been impossible. He was also dropped 3 times by Victor Ortiz.
Lucas wasn't nowhere near a "glorified journeyman" man, that's complete nonsense, put some respect on his name. The guy was more technically sound and skilled than Chino. He sent Lamont Peterson to the goddamn moon, something Errol Spence couldn't even accomplish. Gave us a an all time great war with Provodnikov, hurting and rocking him while a great fighter in Tim Bradley got battered like a red headed stepchild against. Two great fighters that he outperformed against the same opponents.
We all know his orbital getting broken by Postol and Garcia influenced the outcome of those fights. Its part of the game but that doesn't make those injuries irrelevant. That "glorified journeyman" beatsdown every current fighter at 140 sans Taylor. Teo,Regis,Matias and Ramirez get thier asses handed to them by him.
Ryan running a lot to cut the weight, minimum of 8 miles per day supposedly.
https://youtu.be/O6fkJFlPpiE
Good video. Hes running that much to cut/keep weight down along with all the other benefits but when youre in long runs like that, you do go into this "runners euphoria" that is great for one's mental health like he stated.
Pretty apparent Ryan and team have everything on point. Say what you will about the kid but there's no denying his dedication and self awareness. Watching this ,you cant help but feel with that, coupled with his genuine belief in himself and abilities, that Tank is in for a rude awakening.
No chance it did that well but there were a lot of interested/eager cats at my nephews daughters 1st birthday party asking if we were going to order it! Atleast 20 heads, who are all just casuals but not one said "i"ll pitch in" lol....but there was interest.
750K buys no.......400K-500K?? Plausible considering we've been yearning for this fight for what 4-5 yrs now??
Think he was next to Dontay Wilder selling watermelon and cotton....oh wait nvm Wilder was just robbing some poor old Asian lady.
I thought it was Broner who had an affinity for robbing grannies??
At his peak on his best night, it did seem like Mattysse was perceived as the more dangerous and lethal fighter 'And it was not just hype'.
Maidana in comparison, the perception of him throughout his entire career 'Was that he was a durable, game fighter who will always be competitive against most fighters'.
Maidana was the same kind of category of fighter as Shawn Porter 'Skill for skill Maidana was not really at the level, were he could beat High end world level or Elite level fighters'.
But his attributes as a fighter, ensured that he was pretty much always going to really challenge his opponents.
So it appeared that he never really had a distinct peak 'Just solid form and longevity'.
Overall most people would rate Maidana's career higher 'But maybe at his absolute peak form, Mathysse was the more dangerous and lethal fighter'.
Someone knows what thier eyes are watching...Lucas was one bad dude!! Met him in person right before his fight with Garcia, chatted it up for a minute but til this day, I cant get over the fact of how small he was, dude was at most 5'6"
Oh look,as long as he's not the one getting his ass whooped he can offer praise and congrats to both boxers ......so I guess Benavidez "cheated the best" then Wilder?!?
No... but to most here who saw past his persona and bravado, could see his hesitations in fighting Joshua and now Usyk so it shouldn't come as that big a surprise, unfortunate as that may be smh.
Benavidez is really not deserving of a shot at Canelo but boxing politics etc etc make him the mando
That and only that is the reason why he might , big might to boot , he’ll get the fight and only for that reason
At this time , yes Benavidez has a chance at victory but only because Canelo has been on the decline
Imo Canelo still squeaks out a win just because David first off starts very slow , takes him time to adapt and doesn’t have that one punch knockout
A big possibility is Canelo gasses out also but will David really jump on him or does he plod for 3/4 rounds
David beat the consensus #2 fighter,3rd at worst, boxer at 168lbs. Andrade,Morrell and Jermall are far less deserving so who does that leave ahead of David?
Certainly looked better against Usyk which is weird considering the disparity in talent between Usyk and Franklin but the guy is no doubt fighting demons/doubt in his head .If he had followed that straight right that landed constantly with a tight lefthook like the combo he dropped Ruiz with. It was there all night but just was too timid to throw it.....Definitely needs a few more camps under Derrick to give him atleast an opportunity to make difference,1 camp is never enough.
Can't speak for the possible Usyk/Fury fight as I'm here in the states but from the few posts from those across the pond,it looks like trying to scalp some tickets at the stadium the day of will be your best bet. Same as it is here. I've come up on some great seats plenty of times, some floor, for cheap just waiting until the 23rd hr where scalpers get desperate trying to recoup whatever they can.
Just make sure theyre willing to wait out front with you while one of your coworkers/friend enters with no issues before giving payment. Most scalpers I've bought from don't have issue with it.
Its very hard to bulk up and then go back down again, what I said was his best boxing is at MW, he could go back but it would take a full year to make the adjustment they don't do that they just lose the weight and it kills them, the body needs to go below the weight and then be built up again it takes quite a while to do it because there is extra fat around the internal organs that will harden, the only way to remove that so that its weight can be replaced elsewhere in the body with muscle mass is to actually starve it of using metabolism, like I said they don't do that they just crash down through diet and cardio which rearranges the body differently, its not the way to do, its got to be done the same its done with pit dogs.
Canelo isn't "bulking up" to make 168/175, like say what Usyk did when he fought Joshua. Canelo is just simply not cutting as much weight at the higher weight classes, which is what the vast majority of boxers do. No boxer really "bulks up",they just simply cut less weight as they move up.
Canelo didn't lose to Bivol because he was the smaller fighter,he lost because he was the inferior boxer. Canelos slow feet and shit stamina has followed him through every weight class and he eventually fought a boxer who was capable of exploiting those flaws, well besides May and GGG.
No suprise there as Mayweather has publicly stated on multiple occasions "in house only".
So Tank confirmed hes no longer promoted by MP? Found it interesting May n Ellerbe had/have been pretty mum lately even after the apparent verbal agreement between Tank and Ryan's teams.
Neither he nor Spence have proved who's #1 since they have yet to fight one another and are clearly the top two welterweights in the game. So have no issues with either claiming so.
You dangle a nice shiny object high, out in front of your victim, while you use the other to pick thier pockets.
Tank wasn't in shape or ready for Ryan next and has a significant court case come February and now hes inexplicably accusing Ryan of PED use publicly, think about it....
Jermall is a dangerous fight for canelo at any weight. Strong jab, good timing on his counter punches, good chin, good fight iq, good defence, has power and is mentally strong, won't show up scared and lay down for canelo.
Even with his less than impressive resume,I have to agree with all this. And Mall is not a small Middleweight as op suggests, dudes a big ass Middleweight who can/should be mixing it up at 168 where all the big boys are at. Nobody at 160 for him any longer.
Most recent would probably be Provo taking multiple 3-4 FLUSH punch combinations from Lucas. The only time I've seen Provo take a step back to gather himself.
Not a blatant robbery but you can easily make a case for either winning. With Teo being heavily invested in by TR its no suprise he was given the nod tonight. Pretty clear why Barboza was never given the opportunity.
No, you are counting apples and oranges now. Boots wants all of the smoke at 147 but is constantly being avoided. However, it appears that Jaime Munguia does not. He's ducking all of the top competition out there at 160 by fighting the likes of the Gabriel Rosado's of the world; When he could have been easily fighting Demetrius Andrade and Jermall Charlo.
Mall,Andrade and Mungia are all straight bitches that held up the division waiting on a "give me" least path of resistance shot at Canelo or a shot to shit GGG. There's no defending the career path of either one of those pretenders, period. Fuch all 3. Hopefully Janibek can lay claim to 160 as it seems he's the only one wanting to prove his worth.
You have an Anime avatar which idealises the concept of weak, introverted males. More likely the internet is the only place you can pretend to be aggressive.
Damn....
