- - Qawi just squeezed into 175 same day weighins as a literal stump, ie easily 180 come fight time, same as Canelo.
Canelo wouldn't have to do more than layback and counter all night, his natural style. MSpinks beat him imposing height and reach with spearing jab and occasional Jinxes.
Dunno if Canelo beats him, and certainly not beat Spinks either, but this would be a good fight. Canelo whacks harder when he wants, so might be a fav for that reason as Qawi loses his short height leverage against taller fighters.
Good observation on Spinks/Qawi
Spinks mostly positioned his right hand but simply nullified Qawi's damn sneaky tactic of rocking back when a foe threw the right, so he could counter. Spinks used his left for 90-95% of that match, like a studied ring general.
Once again are you old enough to remember Qawi? Qawi had a chin and can punch nonstop for 12 or 15 rounds. Qawi would KO Canelo.
No I'm not old, wrinkled and balding, but I watch old fights. This thread was made in response to some posters here saying that Canelo beats Ezzard Charles. See below for a laugh.

Canelo would be looking like this, except he wouldn't have the stamina or speed to even attempt tripling up the hook like Leon did.
They are close in height but in no way are they similar in build and stature.
Canelo is very stocky for a boxer but Qawi is a whole other level of stocky and with an engine that kept going. He makes Canelo look thin.
Truth be told he would outwork and outmuscle Canelo badly and very likely stop him off of straight volume and exhaustion.
Yep doesn't mean he belongs there, only means he beat those particular opponents, Manny and Floyd made a career out of it and its a tall order to suggest they could beat natural full blown all time great WWs, at 130/140 they are in any conversation with anyone.
I believe this to be true, When all things are equal the bigger man will win.
canelo copied fraud and manny. Remember back then they have same day weight in. I have seen canelo closer to lhw, fighting a 160.
Look at all the biased bruthas in this thread picking the brutha lol what a surprise.
Lame ass shit qawi was a bum nothing special. Canelo beats his ugly ass...Nuff said.
Now you racist bruthas can carry on with you're BS. Smh
They also forget how Qawi was robbed in the first Holyfield fight.
After almost going to hell for dehydration in that fight, Holyfield - then a slim cruiserweight - decided that the time had come for Evan Fields to take his place.
Holyfield lost 17lbs during that fight, I remember reading an interview where Evander thought about quitting and something snapped his mind out of it, but said he was so close to tossing it in, survival instincts touch them all if pushed hard enough.
A lot of people don’t know or remember that DMQ fought George Foreman tough. I have mad respect for “The Camden Buzzsaw”.
I think George came in very light for that fight. After that he said he’d never come in that light again.

Canelo isn't "bulking up" to make 168/175, like say what Usyk did when he fought Joshua. Canelo is just simply not cutting as much weight at the higher weight classes, which is what the vast majority of boxers do. No boxer really "bulks up",they just simply cut less weight as they move up.
Canelo didn't lose to Bivol because he was the smaller fighter,he lost because he was the inferior boxer. Canelos slow feet and **** stamina has followed him through every weight class and he eventually fought a boxer who was capable of exploiting those flaws, well besides May and GGG.
We can agree to disagree, going from 147 to 175 in an athlete I feel there has been bulking up going on, you can build muscle mass to gain weight but its not near efficient as it is when it's natural, that's because of the cardiovascular and nervous system doesn't grow at the same ratio as muscle does, again this is seen very clearly in dogs where there is so much more control to be had over what's going on.
He is smaller than Bivol in every department Im not sure what you're seeing here Bivol is a 6ft natural LHW he said so himself, do you realise when you're above your natural weight how much hotter you run, that was the first thing I noticed in that fight Canelo ran hot and he wasn't fighting at a fast pace, if I saw that in a dog I know something is going on with his system, I feel its a lot more complicated than you think it is.
Its very hard to bulk up and then go back down again, what I said was his best boxing is at MW, he could go back but it would take a full year to make the adjustment they don't do that they just lose the weight and it kills them, the body needs to go below the weight and then be built up again it takes quite a while to do it because there is extra fat around the internal organs that will harden, the only way to remove that so that its weight can be replaced elsewhere in the body with muscle mass is to actually starve it of using metabolism, like I said they don't do that they just crash down through diet and cardio which rearranges the body differently, its not the way to do, its got to be done the same its done with pit dogs.

Canelo is not a middleweight and no chance in hell he could ever make 160 again. His short stature gives the appearance he belongs in a lower weight class but the guy is built like a fire hydrant which is no doubt a detriment/hurdle for him at 168/175 but those are the breaks. Chepo has admitted in interviews that even 168 is a struggle for Canelo to make.

All that you said is possible I just don't think Canelo should be above 160, I feel his best boxing is at MW.

And yet, he won a title at 175 & 168. And wanted to fight a Crusierweight, some of his fans even thought that he could beat usyk at CW.

Qawi works him, and Canelo could never go 15 rounds

But Qawi and Canelo likely have the same fight night weight. Canelo would’ve been a LHW in same day weigh in
You could very well be right, maybe with same-day weigh-ins Canelo is only 165 on the night, he may never have bulked up to higher weights back in those days, all of Dwight's fights were at 175 and up while Canelo began at 147 which kinda suggests to me Canelo is smaller as in density, but again you have a fair point for sure.
