If Benavidez bodybags Plant

It DOESNT take the "shine" off Canelos career but it does of the Plant win and will be a good barometer of the twos ability or in Davids case,potential ability. Of course its not the end all be all but what better benchmark to compare one another than against common opponents? Especially when these match-ups took place within a few years and all 3 fighters are in or were near their primes? I see a few here already have the "but this was canelos umpteenth division" card in their back pocket ready to discredit a more impressive win by David,should it happen. What they fail to see or acknowledge is Canelo was, and still is,having to cut significant weight at 175,let alone 168. I'd say probably nearly as much as David. Canelos build is drastically different than that of David's but they're not as far apart in weight classes one wants to believe. There's a reason Canelo will probably never fight David,and it isnt because hes "Mexican"....which he's not by the way. Hes as much "Mexican" as he is American,Dominican and Ecuadorian.

Then he'd end up like GGG A ton of worthless wins and chasing after someone else's money :lol1: I would like to see him fight Biv again :boxing: Or labeled a boogeyman like Benavidez. Oh no wait, he also has to miss weight, be a coke head, and lose his belts due to being “young doe”. Only then he would gain the critics respect.

Canelo isnt fighting benevidez. Benevidez style is too much for canelo. And Benny won't be fighting Biv anytime soon :dunno:

Moves up to 175 and fights the #3 fighter Kovalev and the guy who is currently #1 at 175, Bivol, again a fighter I said could very well beat Canelo. He took risks and has looked vulnerable, yes. Those who openly hate Nelo are probably frustrated GGG fans If Nelo isn't always fighting the best there is, his a cherrypicker. They will hail dudes who are in their first weight class, belittling a guy that has moved up 25lbs. Benavidez is 26, just fighting his second top 10 fighter, in his natural weight class. A guy who can also comfortably fight at 175. Canelo at 26 had fought a handful of top 10 fighters. Including fighters that his critics said he was ducking. Like Lara and Trout. He had also fought Mayweather, Cotto, Liam Smith, Rhodes, Angulo, Kirkland. With the exception of Angulo and Kirkland who were just seen as having a puncher’s chance, the rest were all top 1-5 fighters in the 154 division, according to The Ring. This was only Canelo’s beginnings. He went on to obviously fight more tough fighters in his mid career resume like GGG, Jacobs, Bivol, Kovalev, C. Smith, Plant, etc Canelo has already done so much, and fought so many elite fighters, that his next opponent ranked #3 by The Ring, with almost 10 years at 168lbs, is called a “cherrypick” by his critics. I don’t think his critics are aware of how subconsciously they think really highly of Canelo and expect way more out of him than any other current boxer. If little Canelo coming from 147 could, then yeah Benavidez better do it too; and way quicker than Canelo as he’s naturally bigger than Canelo and an actual Super Middleweight. Hell, Benavidez is a legit LHW. The least he could do is “bodybag” Plant.

Angel Heredia makes a lot of difference, the only real way to improve elite fighters is through conditioning. The shine generally goes to the guy that first achieved a stoppage over someone, until Caleb fights another top guy we don't if the Canelo loss took something away, if David stops him too then all the more reason Canelo needs to fight him.

Does that take the shine off of Canelo? A lot of fans discounted the true king at 168 because he has a slight coke habit and occasionally is fat between fights. But if he crushes the guy many said was the toughest opponent Canelo faced at super middle does it drop the champ down a notch and the real top guy at the weight emerges. Don't think so, it is more of a testament of Benavidez being an elite fighter by facing a former world champion in Plant. Even if he managed to get consistent good wins it shouldn't alter Canelo's legacy. But if Canelo doesn't fight Benavidez, then I do think it would negatively impact his reputation as former world champions gave Alvarez the opportunity to prove himself while Canelo is refusing to do the same for David.

Canelo wins either way. Plant wins and it makes his resume look even better. Benavidez wins and it’s now a super fight between them.

It makes the public demand a Canelo vs Benavidez fight. Assuming Canelo gets passed Ryder
