No. No truth at all. Just romantic BS. Fighting spirit is an individual thing and no country or race has a monopoly on it. The Aztecs were just one large tribe of dozens of tribes of Indians living in Mexico when the Spanish came to Mexico. Who says their warriors had more fighting spirit than any of the other tribes????? The Spanish conquered them all. The vast majority of Mexican boxers probably have very little or no Aztec blood and we have no idea which ones do. Boxing is a big deal in Mexico so that might help make Mexican boxers fight extra hard but the Aztecs have nothing to do with that. As I said fighting spirit is an individual thing. Most Mexicans carry some Spanish blood so maybe the Spanish conquerors of Mexico contribute to their fighting spirit if you think it works that way and I don't. After all those guys were some bad MFers and they conquered the Aztecs and all the other tribes and they were always outnumbered.
That is incorrect, center/northern Mexico was particularly tough:
"At the end of the 1500’s the Spanish used their last resort which was to pay the Chichimeca tributes in exchange for peace. "In trade for peace, Villamanrique offered food, clothing, lands, agricultural implements and red haired women/children from sea side villages. Those women were traded more specifically in exchange for seized gold/silver. Evident in the influence of dark brownish-reddish hair especially in infants within the population of the southern Guachihil territories between La Montesa and Milagros, Zacatecas. 'This policy of 'purchase for peace worked and by the end of the Sixteenth Century, the Chichimeca War had ended" (Schmal)"

Although I agree that this "aztec warrior" slogan is BS, there were hundreds of ethnic groups in Mexico, the term was manufactured by TV station wankers that have no respect for the other mexican ethnics and history :boxing:
Wow, the fckery that is going on in this thread is way too much. First of all neither JMM or Chavez are "canelo haters", they just call it how they see it everytime, you think these alpha male warriors have any space for hate in their souls? you dead wrong.
Obviously you have not been watching them through espn or tvazteca through the latest few years, they just have moderated themselves lately for obvious reasons.
Tv azteca crew has been Canelo haters since forever, mocking and all, even Márquez liked to mocking him at espn years ago. You had to watch them, they´re not even good actors, and Chávez Sr. is butthurt because he was pushing for Canelo Vs Jr. months ago and it wont happen. And Cotto being bussier doesn´t matter, punching air and canelo´s arms doesn´t score points.
Fair point.
But I have to say, as a Brit, we are fast gaining (and deserving) a rep for being partial to our own fighters.
The old joke used to be "you have to knock the guy out to get a draw in Germany". You can now replace Germany for the UK it seems.
Although those british comentators are usually very fair. Respect.
He's right. If you look at Macklin's other fights, he's a come forward, brawler.
He just changed his style for Martinez cus he knew he couldn't pull off that crap and last.
Pavlik's a pressure fighter (with good boxing form).
Pwill is a pressure fighter (with Very high volume).
A straight-up brawler though a-la Mayorga, none at the champion level.
I see. Now, Pwill?, I´ll check that. thanks.
Manny Pacquiao won the fight, the only reason the polls on here will be skewed is because all of the FLoyd + Marquez fans are bigger in numbers when combined. I bet some haven't even seen the fight and still vote Mayweather. Real boxing fans, including the professional judges saw what happened that night. Pacquiao beat Marquez and turned his face into mush.
If there weren´t multinick *******s Pac would have a lot less votes.
I wont give Pac any credit because he said some serious bs like "It is clear I won the fight". Real gentlemen don´t celebrate gift decisions, he is not one.
LMAo at the mullet. I wonder how a fight between crazy ass Barrera and Pacquiao would have gone. Probably even more one sided in Pacquiao's favor, but far more exciting while it lasted.
Don´t forget Pac was most of his career a one handed fighter, very limited.
There is no need to go out there on a mission and cherry pick opinions that match yours when out of the 28 boxing writters there that night most gave it to JMM and only one to Pac.
Why do people do this? They did it for the second fight, and they are doing it for the third fight now. If you think Pacquiao or Marquez won, why list people who felt the same rather than just discuss why you scored it the way you scored it?
Self deluding, and that includes a lot of the people in that list.
I also thought Rubio was going to beat Jr. and it was like a camping day for Jr., he has improved his game and if Rubio couldn´t hurt him no one will at this division.
Pac´s eyes were rolling every time Márquez landed his right, it happened so many times that it could have made its toll on pac. Jmm might be very well the author behind Pac´s retirement.
Bs stoppage, the Dr. asked how many fingers he could see and he gave the correct answer... they stopped it anyway favoring the local (sort of) fighter.
Yori boy Campas I think is still boxing?, at some point (against Trinidad) he had a 50 wins 49ko record. :boxing:
Ps.- I can´t believe people is still mentioning Pac, he has power but not one punch fight ending power like all those other guys.
