For some reason I'm going with Martinez-Chavez.
Martinez exposed Chavez and even when he was hurt in the final round after throwing nearly 1,000 overall punches Chavez still couldn't put the then 37 year old away.
Fight had me jumping like crazy to see a guy who outworked his opponent for eleven almost lose it all :boxing::boxing:
As much I dislike what Mayweather did in trying to control every single angle possible, Maidana's camp is milking it a bit too much. Don't get me wrong here, Mayweather's unreasonable push to not allow Maidana to wear the horse hair, Mexican style gloves was pathetic. Leonard Ellerbe said "Gloves that are made of horse hair, I don't think those will be allowed in the Nevada Commission moving forward." Who is he to say such a thing? Cleto Reyes are punchers gloves which consist of horse hair only for standard pro fight gloves and they're the top tier in that category, so I seriously doubt they're going to ban Cleto Reyes and any others that use horse hair. Pacquiao, Marquez, Stevenson, Martinez, Broner, Danny Garcia and many more wear these kind of gloves. Broner wore them on the undercard for crying out loud. I'm getting off topic here, the point is: Lucas Matthysse, who everyone regards as a hammer hitting fighter has worn the same gloves that Maidana wore last night and we don't see Matthysse's power go to the crapper, nor do we hear him complain about them. Here's the proof:

I've actually seen some people here say Matthysse is a harder puncher than Maidana.
It's still wrong and beyond annoying that they forced Maidana to wear different gloves, but if Matthysse has no problem with them Maidana really shouldn't either, knowing, of course, what type of fighter he is.
keeping a close eye :lol1: oh yeah im sure they are ****ting their pants at the thought of some nobody 'scouting' them. Not in their league and never will be, paddy.
Yeah, keep a close eye kid because that's the closest you'll get to either of them. No way arum allows you to get your career ruined before it even gets started.
No chill :lol1:
But true.
TS is right!!!!!!!!!!
Lineal Titles and ABC belts are something different!!!!!!
Just look at the articles made about DLH RJJ,ect, ect here in NSB.
Pacquiao is a 4 division title holder(112, 122, 130, 135) and 4 divsion lineal champ(112,126,130,140)
So technically TS is righT!!!!
Pacquiao is a six division champ.
He won titles at 112, 122, 126, 130, 135, and 140.
The 126 lbs belt was the lineal championship. And championships are supposed to be defended and "The Ring Magazine" can be defended. Its not a trophy. It's a champonship.
The IBO is also a championship.
Hopkins held it at Light Heavyweight.
Klitschko holds it.
Juan Diaz had it when he faced Juan Manuel Marquez.
N'Dou currently holds it. (At Welterweight.)
Mayweather even had it! At Welterweight.
So the IBO is most defintely considered a championship.
Also the Ring Magazine.
Juan Manuel Marquez was called the Linear "Champ" at Lightweight when he beat Joel.
I think I proved my piont lol.
did you read the topic?? its not about HOW MANY TITLES, its about HOW MANY DIVISIONS pac had titles. let me ask you, in what division floyd had the ibo belt? youre funny, but not that funny :lol1:
Oooo you burned him "JM1"!
Thanks for the back-up lol.
He replied to my comment that's why he said that. Hahaha.
did you compare roy to cotto????lmfao..roy had every belt you can get at 175....
Lmao!!
That's true Roy had literally every sanctioning title at 175.
Go here: # WBC Light Heavyweight Title (Jones's 10th defense)
# IBF Light Heavyweight Title (Jones's 6th defense)
# WBA Light Heavyweight Title (Jones's 9th defense)
# IBO Light Heavyweight Title (Jones's 3rd defense)
# IBA Light Heavyweight Title (Jones's 1st defense)
# NBA Light Heavyweight Title (Jones's 2nd defense)
# WBF Light Heavyweight Title (Jones's 1st defense)
# Weights: Jones 172 lbs, Kelly 174.5 lb

No he beat Morales in a grudge fight.
So therefore he won that Lightweight Title against Morales fair and square.
So Pacquiao won a fair WBC Lightweight Champion. David Diaz.
on that same note...floyd doesnt even count his ibo belt..if he did he'd be a 7 time world champion...go figure
That's true.
But answer this question.
Do you conider the International Boxing Organization Title.
A real legit Championship?
I do.
Hard to argue he didn't clean out the 130 division considering he beat MAB again, Morales 2x, and JMM at that weight. All 3 of those guys were at one time or another rated the best or second beat at the weight. So I'd say beating the top 3 is cleaning out a division given today's standards.
Yeaup only the Junior Lightweight Class.
Morales twice by knock-out.
Barrera by unanamious decsion. (Rematch.)
Also Juan Manuel Marquez.
No one else was left.
So he did clean it out.
Cotto fans maybe...c'mon when has Cotto complained or had an excuse?
He has. He has...
A while ago Cotto said that he trained too hard or too much against Margarito, and that he felt tired during fight night. He said he won't make the same mistake twice. But it's all bull. He knows he's gonna use that excuse once he loses to Pacquiao.
Miguel Cotto is cleary the underdog here, but what strategy do you think Cotto has to use to make the upset happen?(what fight does he have to fight)
"Here are my keys to success"/Plan that I would use if I was working with Miguel
1. condition harder than he ever has in his life. i.e. Lots of roadwork.
2. apply a lot of pressure every minute of the fight.
3. cut off the ring at every possible opportunity.
4. jab untill his arm falls off.
5. use the straight right and lead with it often.
6. don't throw bombs and go for the knockout. just hit the target.
7. since pac likes to utilize his great footwork and move in and out constantly, timing will be absolutely critical for cotto. he really has to try and catch pac coming in as much as possible. (utilizing #5).
8. cover up and use the gloves to block/parry often. he can't try and use head movement to stay clear of pac's shots like he did with margarito.
9. spar with calderon as much as possible
Yeaup.
Also review the tape of Morales vs Pacquiao 1.
But I'm going for Pacquiao all the way.
Pacquiao is a much better boxer than Cotto, with wayyyyy better footwork.
Better acccurate power punches than Cotto. He's gonna have Cotto quiting.
Trust me.
Why can't boxers be moved up as quick as MMA fighters? Are boxers/boxing promoters concerned with having attractive record instead of good fights? The way Tye Fields or Joe Mesi was managed. I notice in MMA, Gina Carano was already a superstar with a record of 2-0. Her first fight was nationally (and worldwide?) televised? She is now 7-1, still a huge step up/superstar. Kinda lock Brock and Lesner. Wasn't the first fight of both, their first or second fight yet it was a huge event without anyone worrying about their "records"?
In boxing it is different, you have to have a 20-0 record before anyone even hears of you. The only 2 fighters in boxing that I feel was moved up quick was Spinks when he fought Ali and won, it was Spinks' 7th fight, wasn't it? Huge step-up. And John Carlo's first fight with a Spinks. Carlo won. Huge step-up.
Why doesnt anyone in boxing let a fighter with a 5-0 make a huge leap and fight someone in the top 20? This moves people quick in the game and to see who is real legit. A determined 5-0 boxer could be interesting to watch fight a top 20 or 30 fighter. Rankings are questionable and so are records. An undefeated record doesn't always mean you're good. It's just you fought bums. 300 something amateur record does not mean you'll be fresh in the pros, ask Dominick Guinn, the former heavyweight hopeful.
If Mesi Had fought anyone for a title and took a chance early on in his career maybe his dream of becoming champion would have came true instead of waiting for Jirov to pummel his ass and eventually got brain damaged then retired. He could have done it, but in boxing a perfect record matters. It should be the fight, not the record. Mesi fights are not all that exciting to me either way.
Just a thought.
:biggthump
Because in MMA the fight can change INSTANTLY.
In boxing it's all about skills.
A boxer who is 5-0 vs a boxer who is 26-0.
You'll tell the difference in skills. A punch won't change the fight unless you're a big puncher. And nowadays boxers don't have punching power.
In MMA you get lucky.
Just an unbkown elbow shot to the face will get you a victory. That's why MMA is such a big draw.
Cotto fans maybe...c'mon when has Cotto complained or had an excuse?
He has. He has...

Has the weight been agreed yet? I can't find it anywhere.
I've heard 142 was agreed then 143 now 147! Can someone please clarify the weight?
Cheers
It's at 144.
Every fighter is different. Some or most have hand problems as well. Personal preference I dont care what gloves they wear to be honest. We aren't the ones having to give or take those punches.
Yeah those with hand problems one can understand. Grant gloves protect the hand more which is why someone like Floyd probably wears them.
Makes sense, but for the sake of their chances to win I believe Cleto Reyes helps.
I hardly post here, since I've been a reader than talker here but how on earth can you say that "boxing should come first, NOT money or safety"? You know the better the competition the higher the risk of getting hurt is. Here's an example, if Pacquiao would've fought some cab driver rather than Marquez, Pacquiao would've been one killer punch short to his brain. Each boxer's fight could very much be their last, so money is very important for them as is their safety which should be compensated via money.
This is a tough one...if Cotto defeats Martinez convincingly then without a doubt he triumphs Tito even if Puerto Ricans think otherwise. Cotto and Tito always took on the best which makes this tough, but they also came up short several times which makes it harder lol I personally like Tito because I grew up watching him and he brought a lot of fire to the sport when he was around, Cotto does as well but not quite like he did.
:boxing:
I don't see anything about it on the Golden Boy website. Why the hell not?
Yeah, go to Showtime's YouTube channel called "Shosports". They have it there, it says stand by once you click on the video because it hasn't started but will go live once it does. :boxing:
Not even if he beats Martinez will he b greater than Tito r u crazy? Cotto has lost all his biggest fights. He will have to beat Floyd and Pac in a rematch to reach Titos level
Can't you argue that Tito came up short as well? He lost to Hopkins and Wright. The De La Hoya fight was a loss in the eyes of many.
