For me it was 04 to 07
Learned from the Castillo fights, showed heart and he could adjust ...won titles from 140 to 154 and had the same athleticism of his youth combined with experience, better accuracy and defense...he combined potshotting and combos great in this period....before that he threw combos, after he was more a potshotter and counterpuncher
he filled out at 140 wish he stayed longer
During this period he called out odlh, tsyzu, Mosley, everyone between 135 thru 54 and said he was the best...went on to prove it
Mayweather v Corrales was the first of his fights that I covered and I was convinced that he was special, fast, defensively sharp and aggressive when he needed to me. For the shortest of times, he looked like a little Leonard, almost the complete fighter.
What followed was a period of solid wins over solid opponents, finally resulting in those two Castillo fights, Mayweather showed how he could rebound in the rematch and won it in my opinion (I had him winning the first one too).
His performance against Bruseles was great but it literally took him years, after the Castillo rematch, before he got back to world level with a win over Judah and De la Hoya. Since then he has faded, no longer a dazzling combination puncher and far too defensive, his offensive ability hindered, maybe by age or maybe due to an unwillingness to engage.
So I'd say his absolute peak was 01-07

Based on the eye test, 140 was special. Wish he would have stayed longer. He still had his speed, power, movement and also stood in the pocket and threw in combination.
I gave the same answer, and you don't respond to me because you're mad that I expose Floyd. :lol1:
So petty.
What you talking about...we basically said his prime was the same time
Read.how I started the thread
Expose? What?
You can't expose a 37 year old dude been a champ since 98
2001-2007.
The best Mayweather ever was probably either 2001 against Corrales or 2005 against Gatti.
I'd say his early prime was 2001-2003 at 130-135. His absolute prime was 2004-2006 at 140-147. His latter prime was 2007 at 147 and 154. Could have had another 1-3 prime years possibly had he not "retired" after Hatton.
Agreed and it seemed like he mastered all phases of fighting and looked comfy in the ring

I'd say when he was at Junior Welterweight. He looked pretty damn strong as he was fast.
