I definitely can see Floyd Knocking Ortiz out in the later rounds, but not Ortiz's corner throwing in the towel or a ref stoppage. I don't think Floyd takes the risk and goes for the knock out, he'll dictate the fight for all twelve rounds and cruise to a decision.Even if Ortiz is able to get to inside,Floyd defense and inside fighting is too superior for Ortiz. Even when guys are hurt,Floyd doesn't try to finish them off, now if this was Pretty Boy Floyd from mid-90's before the hand issues, then Ortiz would be KO'd for sure.
In championship fights I look for the challenger to be aggressive, or land the better shots, or show better ring generalship then the champion, hurt the champion, our out class the champion. Not all those in one fight, but something. If you are going to be a counter puncher, then the shots should be flush at times and possibly hurt your opponent, like JMM did, but when the champion (Manny) in this case is walking through your punches and bring aggressive and landing the bigger shots, and hurt you, I have a hard time handing the title over. Now, Manny did lay up on the gas, even then Bradley want coming forward, or pressuring him, he sat back. If Manny would have never tried to please the fans and came forward, we would have been talking about a snooze of a fight....IDK, I just have a hard tome giving the challenger the title when he performs like Bradley did last night.
I wouldn't say that he doesn't want to fight, I think that that's a part of his demeanor. He isn't a guy who is often in the American media. I think we tend to put labels on people who are in the lime light to gain some type of bond with them, and Manny is a guy who really doesn't expose too much of his personality to American fans. Even watching 24/7 you really can't put a finger on how he really is. So to say he come off as he doesn't want to fight Floyd or any other boxer out there is kind of a reach IMO. None of us know him personally and get to talk to him on a regular bases, so all we can do is speculate.
If Floyd couldn't knockout a over the hill Shane Mosley and a overweight JMM....I don't see him winning the fight by KO or TKO....Floyd doesn't take risk. If he does win, it's going to be by decision
what a dumbass thread..do ya'll do anything besides bitch and try to discredit pro fighters...ya'll are to damn negative..try being positive for a change
Couldn't agree more. It's like a line has been drawn in the sand and your either on Manny's side or Floyd's side. Granted we all have a right to opinion, but it seems like this is turning into straight politics. I don't care for Floyd's pre fight persona but he is a great fighter and deserves his due, same goes for Manny, I just want to see both fighters at the top of the boxing world go at it...
I have to go with Manny vs JMM. Floyd is way too superior for Ortiz. I don't think Ortiz is mentally strong enough to handle Floyd's out the ring antics and in ring veteran savyness. Floyd will counter Ortiz coming forward all night long til Ortiz if frustrated and doesn't want to take the nessesary risk to win the fight. Floyd wins in a landslide UD12.
Manny vs JMM, everyone is expecting fireworks between these two, and hopefully that's what we get. JMM will be fired up for this fight, but I think the weight will be an issue, so Manny will dominate the fight. But will give the fans what they want which is trading blows at times with JMM, which will make it the more exciting fight.
totally right........ fight vs Pac makes no business at all. so, if it doesn't make money it doesnt make sense, rather retire.
Manny vs Floyd makes allllll the sense in the world. Top two P4P fighters in the world, and in the same weight class not fighting each other only hurts the sport of boxing.
Mercante Jr. didn't do anything wrong, he allowed Foreman to go out on his own. Foreman was the Champ and Mercante Jr. did the right thing buy not letting a championship fight end that way.....Foreman still wanted to fight, and Mercante Jr. allowed him to continue, great job by Mercante Jr.
The boxing world is too busy focused on Pac/Floyd and OST to notice what Showtime is doing.....I personally think the Super Six is a great idea, long as I get to catch the fights I'm good.
So arguably the best boxer othis era is about to go to prison. And we as fans of this sport will probably miss out on what could be the biggest fight in the history of boxing, and people are happy about that?
I knew there was a reason why I don't believe in god.
I know people dislike Floyd, but this place takes it to a WHOOOOOOLE other level. Floyd is the best fighter on the card. I know the man comes off as a complete douchebag, but his fight game has to be respected even if you don't like his out of the ring antics.
Side note: I wonder if anybody has made it out of these boards without fapping cause the bytches in these avatars and GIFS are crazy...:fing02:
I disagree, Floyd will still have his base fans, and he will do big numbers again when decides to get back in the ring. And it won't matter who the opponent is. He is a huge draw. This won't effect the figures at all.
It was totally a douchbag move. But there are people like that in society. It's sort of like in college football, when Steve Spurrier was at Florida, and he would run up the score on teams that were no real threat. Spurrier use to catch a lot of hell for that. But it wasn't against the rules.
No, the fight last night shouldn't have happened. I wanted to see a rematch with Ortiz and Berto. But Golden Boy was quick on the trigger. HBO was looking at nothing but dollar signs with a Matweather bout. SMH, when money is the ruler I guess all sanity goes out the window.
If anyone is debating it was against the rules they are clearly in denial. That's. Not the point. Folks are saying Floyd took a cheap shot because Victor was clearly looking at Cortez and was unguarded, which is HIS own fault. I think Floyd capitalized on a open oppurtunity. We all know it was legal, but it comes off in a bad light.
I'm more surpised Floyd threw two punches in a row more then anything. :boxing:
Larry won't be satisfied until everyne on this board is on the Mayweather bandwagon. We get it, he has major accomplishments in his career, and is a future HOF'er, but there are guys before him and Pacquaio that will always be considered better then them. Ali, Sugar Ray Robinson, Joe Louis, the list goes on. I'll give him his due, he is a hell of a fighter but jesus, feels like Floyd fans won't be satisfied until the world is bowing at his feet. It's the Floyd fans who are more annoying then he is.
Mosley toke it to the extreme by trying to high five almost after every clinch in both the Mayweather and Pacquaio fight. Even Nassim Richardson said something about it in the corner of the Pacquaio fight. I wouldn't say the American people turned on Joe Louis, that was the government, and we all know they could give flying fvck who you are, they will use you and throw you away at the drop of a dime. But Joe Louis is still to this day beloved by the boxing community and American people, he knew money didn't make him so he gave it away and lived life to the fullest. So I'm sure he left this earth with no regret or ill will towards no one, because he was and still is a legend, not only in boxing history, but Sports History. May he Rest In Peace.
