CHECK POLL 2
It's June 2013.. Don't worry, Mayweather vs Pacquiao happened long ago and it was worth the wait..
But in 2013 who do you think is widely rated as the P4P number 1 boxer in the sport?
A few quick examples in the poll.. not sure if Floyd and Pacman will still be active..
Shout out to the Andre Ward thread for the idea.
It would have been Valero.
If Haye gets the balls to fight both the klitschko's and manages to win them both then i'm sure he would be in the running...
Maybe Ward.
What's funny is that if you were to ask this question 3 years ago, the majority of the votes might have gone for Juan Diaz.
even pavlik might've gotten a few votes
Horrendous list of options :lol1:
I might do a secondary poll, which will serve as an extension to the original, so reply with the names of all the boxers who you think should be included.. that goes to everyone who chose OTHER..
Dawson by far. As the 168lbers start moving up to LHW, Dawson will spark them all.
The road to p4p #1 for the welter and surrounding weight classes is much more difficult.
Winner of the Super 6 vs Lucian Bute. Will more than likely determine the next p4p #1.
I still got faith in my boy Jorge Linares though.
Linares didn't look all that good against Lorenzo, but I believe in him. Dude is that good; I do see him going far. Just has to rebuild his confidence.
Chad Dawson, will be the best fighter when Pac and Floyd retire. Would he be recognize as the P4P best? I don't know and I don't care. That shit is all an opinion.
Look at every P4P list and you see that all of them are different. And, even if you get all the P4P list you see that they differ for even the #1 spot. Because, it is all a mythical opinion based ranking. I don't why fans put so much stock into it.
I don't know who will be P4P #1 in the majority. But, IMO Dawson will be my #1. Because, he will be the best fighter out there and might be arguably the best resume out there.
I agree it is all an opinion, with that said....
This thread is very interesting, I couldn't make a pick. Let me start off by saying Edwin Valero could have ran through all the divisions up until and through 140. Now, under the unfortunate circumstances, my point is moot, so maybe;
the undisputed champ of super six
donaire could do it, gamboa is a possibility
Bradley or the guy that beats him...
Look at it like this, it can be anybody, whether deserving or not - lets just imagine Boxer A is ranked at #1, goes and takes a fight with PWILL, and just assuming Williams beats him, all Williams needs to do is fight some big name, safe fights and guess what? he is #1 in 2013. Boxing isn't a tournament where you're forcefully pit against the best, all it takes is one great win, and a few decent wins, to hold your position.
After he cleans up at 140lbs by late-2011, Khan will be in the top5. In 3 years from now, he'd have probably won a lineal title at 147. So I'm going for:
1) Khan
2) Dawson
3) William
4) Gamboa
5) Berto/Alexander

I second this post.
I am going with Yuriorkis Gamboa. He reminds me a lot of Tokumbo Olajide who I thought might end up there until he faced that unknown Colombian and got detroyed.
Olajide was a beast too and up until that KO loss, I hadn't seen any real weaknesses in him. I kinda wish he never stopped fighting. Gamboa's got *****s in his armor but they can be fixed. I'm a little concerned, however, that he may not get a chance to before he steps to the elite.
