Remember the kid from Philly, David Reid? Gold medalist.
He was never the same after his loss to the big puncher Felix Trinidad. He didn't get knocked out, but he took a lot of punishment. He suffered a detached retina because of the punches from Tito.
Reid was 26 years old when he fought Trinidad.
Now on to Adrien Broner.
Broner took a lot of damage in his loss to Marcos Maidana. He was dropped twice and wobbled in every round.
Immediately after the fight Bernard Hopkins said, "That took three fights out of him." Source: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f56rHHG7SNw
James Toney said, "He could be ruined." when asked about Broner's fight against Maidana. Source: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m5Q_COdwWCk
Then Shane Mosley said, "Maidana is a better fighter than Broner." Source: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oII_9X1jRDU
Could all these legendary hall-of-fame boxers be wrong? I don't think so.
Overhand rights are bad for your health. For twelve long rounds, Broner ate power punches from -- who Roy Jones says is -- the biggest puncher in the welterweight division. Source: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tPhHn_ylZs0
Maidana has ruined a fighter before. Josesito Lopez. Lopez was 100 percent shot in his last fight against feather-fisted Mike Arnaoutis who knocked Lopez down with a jab. And the Riverside Rocky looked bad overall. He was discernibly off -- not sharp, slow, lunging, and unbalanced.
What say you, NSB? Did Maidana take something out of Broner? We've seen fighters take beatings and never come back the same.
However, maybe Broner will come back strong like Tim Bradley did after his war with Ruslan Provodnikov. But Bradley's secret to recovering was seeing a brain specialist. Hopefully Broner gets his brain trauma treated before it's too late.
GTFO, he was not wobbled in EVERY round. lol He didn't take that big of a beating. If anything, he will learn from it and become a better fighter by dedicating him self better, but its all up to him.
Sir, it was a grade A quintessential 12 round asss beating.
You butthurt because you predicted broner was gonna destroy chino lol :bottle::bottle:

As a fan of the sport part of me would like to see Broner reinvent himself and come back with a better image etc...But I really, really can't see it. Part of it is because Maidana ripped away his Floyd pretence and partly because of his personality, he isn't gonna change up guys.
Personally I believe he will not be the same again.
Never understood how hating and wishing a guy ill will translates to being a better person. Oh well, with that said, I believe mentally he will not be the same.
Did you watch his recent interview? Maidana traumatized him. :dead1:
Imo he is ruined. His confidence, no matter how he portrays it has taken a huge blow. On top of that, he is an average fighter at best. Name one BIG NAME he can for sure beat at 147..I can't think of one.
A rematch with Maidana is the worst mistake Broner could make
as i doubt it will go any better the second time around.
At least this way he can claim to have been having a bad day.
In a rematch it will be clear that he is just way over matched
and for sure at that point he will never be the same.
:pat:
What is there to ruin exactly? Some people acting like the next boxing superstar was derailed really really dksab. The only way that would have been possible is if he never fought anybody good simple as that.
Could Adrien Broner be ruined after his loss to Marcos Maidana?
We don't know yet. We have to see how he looks in his next fight. He can regain his lost glory quickly by going back to his division and fight whoever they put in front of him. Any 147 guy for his next fight will be risky.

That is what the so called boxing fans on this forum believe though. They act like the guy personally stole money directly out of their account or mugged their grandma. People on here do that regularly sir nothing new as if they never have done a single wrong in their life. I honestly think he will be fine. He underestimated a opponent and this is what happens when you do so. Aside from all the bull**** antics he did in the ring and after the fight he did not quit like Ortiz and he wasn't running around the ring like bambi with a broken leg Khan. Styles make fights, so unless he actually throws punches and puts Maidana on his backfoot to have him fighting going backwards which Maidana is horrible at he will lose in the same fashion in the upcoming rematch.

He did get a brutal beating.
It is of notice that he didnt go down, but sometimes its just better to get KO than to receive that much damage.
Maidana punches very hard and is known to hurt people bad.
I dont know if Broner will get over this or not, but no one can take that much abuse and last for long.
You only get through a limited number of fights getting hit like that.
He's not ruined but he did take a lot of hard, flush shots. To his credit he made it through the fight.
Broner will be ok if he dedicates himself to the sport. If he keeps up the hatton/duran inbetween fight eating/drinking/snorting/smoking plan he will be in trouble.
Remember he is a big draw in cincy and has gotten good ratings. He will get big fights thanks to big dunn, i mean haymon, especially IF he can beat Maidana in the rematch.
the kid REALLY needs to dedicate himself to the sport. he's got some skill but he doesnt utilize it because he used to think he'd roll over his opponents. i think a change in trainer and hairbrush will do him wonders. maybe even start training somewhere else but in his home state
Anything is possible in boxing. Can he come back from this loss? Absolutely, he needs time to lick his wounds (mental and physical). He's just got to train hard, stay focused and cut that other BS out.
Are there fundamental flaws and habitual mistakes that he needs to correct - Yup!
Can he fix them all - maybe. Not sure that he can but he's got to take an honest, objective look at himself (himself - not the personas).
