I never seen a guy so pro fighter. I mean he was going nuts everytime Ortiz landed a punch yet the majority of them missed. Here's a perfect example. I have seen a lot of Floyd's fights and a lot of Lampley's commentary on those. He is usually quite lavish in his praise of Floyd and his style and skill. Maybe I am missing the nuances, but you showed a very small clip of Jim's remarks about Ortiz as though it is wrong of him to compliment Floyd's opponent.

I 100% agree though. My point was why was he so biased and off in this fight? Lampley has always been fair to Mayweather...ALWAYS. yet in this fight from the get go he was clearly Ortiz...thsi cannot be denied. I cannot be sure, and I have not seen the fight yet. I do not have HBO anymore. It is going to be difficult to watch fights because I cannot afford to get HBO anymore. A number of guesses come to mind, but as I began to write I thought better of entering that debate because there are simply too many perspectives to consider. I will give mine instead: Floyd is obviously having a tumultuous emotional time in his private life which we had a glimpse of on 24/7 (I caught some of it on youtube) and is succumbing to the pressures and frustrations of his lifestyle and the tensions it brings. It makes him harder to root for in fights.

Correction: One tried to and you guys are trying to justify it that he did with Cotto. Mosley actually did it in a fight. I'm not mad at all. Margarito won and made Cotto quit. Yes or No and why or why not? Mayweather typically earns tens of millions per fight now (10,000,000). One billion looks like this 1,000,000,000. A billion dollars is a truly staggering quantity of money. ODLH was reported to have in the realm of $500,000,000 (half a billion) when he retired as a cash cow of boxing. No way Mayweather has one billion dollars.

Margarito: Intelligent and evolved or stupid and cheesy macho ? It's hard not to admire the never-say-die attitude in some people, but when nothing but personal glory and reputation are on the line, it's a foolhardy doctrine to emulate. margarito is not george w bush or perry stupid (nor is he particularly intelligent) but he IS cheesy macho. Your analysis is very good. I do not know what is going on with Manny, but he used to follow Roach's advice very well. Now he seems to be doing his own thing, as though he believes that he has evolved beyond the need for advice or, more likely, he is very distracted. This is not to discount Marquez's ability as a boxer/counter puncher. If Manny had followed Roach's advice Marquez might have adjusted, but he probably would have made a clearer argument for his win. I thought the fight was very even and the win could have gone either way. I do feel, though, that Marquez won the moral victory for two reasons: A) he made a convincing case for his win via his performance and B) part of that performance was slowing Manny down and making him appear ordinary.

KO'd? That's a big bold prediction. Maybe TKO'd.................. I can see the ref stopping the fight if he suffers some eye injury or he's just getting hit way too much but I don't know if Cotto can KO him. He took Cotto's shots really, really well the first time. Yeah, tko is much, much more likely of the two. I have read somewhere that they are using 10 ounce gloves and, of course, wraps should not be an issue this time. I think it will go to decision. I hope Cotto stops him, but I think it goes to a decision.

***Please, no racism*** We all saw how his punches had almost no effect on Mosley, the c class fighter in Mexico, besides a little knockdown, and Pacman. I notice that he will keep coming forward, yeah, but his pressure and punches are way less meaningful. It's like the pressure doesn't really matter because he gets tagged and doesn't seem able to come strong enough to keep his man in trouble. Cotto has resilience but after their first fight he swells for nothing, his tissue is badly damaged. Those punches may not hurt like the first fight, but they will swell him up either way. I think he got this fight but in boxing anything is possible and Cotto has to clinch and have his stamina/endurance ramped up for this fight - preparation should lead him to victory. Seeing the tools that Margarito has, resilience, chin, etc. Without power, or plaster, possibly, can his pressure do enough to keep Cotto backing down this time? Yes, I think mocorito can win in a fair fight. I don't think most Cotto fans are angry that he won in the first fight. I think we are angry that he almost certainly cheated to get that win.

First of all, I'm not a hater or anything close to crap like that. I would just like to read some opinions regarding this matter. I've never quite understood Mayweather when asked about Cotto. At first, he said Cotto was green. Then Cotto became, pretty much, the top welterweight in the world around 2007. Floyd chose to face Hatton instead. With the talent that Floyd has, seriously, I don't get why he would fear Cotto. Do you think Mayweather feels that Cotto has the style to beat him? No, and I honestly don't think Cotto could beat him most days. Anything can happen in boxing, but I would not expect Cotto to win that bout, though I would of course be rooting for him. I do think Cotto could present a challenge for him, though.

He says he rewatched Marg vs Cotto II and he thinks that if Cotto fights like he did against Margarito, with great boxing, moving in and out and throwing combinations that he'd beat Pacquiao. Cotto made a statement on 24/7 that by beating Margarito this December, that would prove that Margarito loaded his wraps in their first fight. Using the same logic if Margarito wins this December does that clear him of wrong doing in the first fight. Yes, that would apply. But I do not believe Cotto is right in this one instance. If Cotto wins it would be evidence to support that argument, but it would not be 'proof'. Similarly, if margaresto wins, it does not mean he did not cheat 3 years ago. It merely means that he will have been better than Cotto on December 3.
