We all saw how his punches had almost no effect on Mosley, the c class fighter in Mexico, besides a little knockdown, and Pacman. I notice that he will keep coming forward, yeah, but his pressure and punches are way less meaningful. It's like the pressure doesn't really matter because he gets tagged and doesn't seem able to come strong enough to keep his man in trouble. Cotto has resilience but after their first fight he swells for nothing, his tissue is badly damaged. Those punches may not hurt like the first fight, but they will swell him up either way. I think he got this fight but in boxing anything is possible and Cotto has to clinch and have his stamina/endurance ramped up for this fight - preparation should lead him to victory.
Seeing the tools that Margarito has, resilience, chin, etc. Without power, or plaster, possibly, can his pressure do enough to keep Cotto backing down this time?
I can almost assure you that Cotto will use the Mosley game plan for this fight. That is punches in flurry and tie Margo up. We know that Margo has one style of fighting and that is coming forward all the time. Take 3 punches to land one. Cotto will need to clinch for most of the fight to stand a chance at winning a decision. IMO Cotto's stamina is questionable especially in the latter rounds. With that said my other guess is that Margo's eye becomes a factor. This already a concern for the New York Licensing Division so rest assured that the ref will be keeping a close eye (no pun intended) on Margo's right eye.
PR's are gonna' hate me for saying this, but even the Margarito that showed up for the Pacquiao fight would've given Cotto hell. The toughness and heart he showed alone would've meant Cotto would've had to go to hell and back to get a victory. This was a fast-punching, quick-footed, combination-punching, southpaw with just as enough stamina as Margarito.
Margarito also hurt Pacquiao to the body in the sixth round and had a good flurry with Pacquiao against the ropes as he dug ferociously to the body in eighth.
If Margarito is anywhere near he was in the Pacquiao fight, it will STILL be a tough fight for Miguel. I don't really consider that plaster issue to be honest.
Whether he used it or not, Margarito has a great style to beat Cotto.
I'm looking forward to Cotto avenging his loss, not seeking revenge, which is different.
My 2 cents. ;)
This is pretty much the most realistic and level headed response I've seen regarding Cotto-Margarito II.....
all i know now is that cotto is always complaining about plaster, all the interviews, lol, he brings up plaster and talks about it like if its the only topic on for discussion, lol, on the face off, lol, cotto brought a picture of handwraps, lol, thats how mentally out of this new fight cotto is, hes bmore focused on interviews of handwraps than the fight itself
To be honest he is likely trying to gain a mental edge in bringing it up, in other words remind himself that its possible that he used plaster so you dont go in there thinking this man beat your head in legit....
and also to get under Tonys skin and drive him mad, the only question I have is do you really want to make Tony upset like that, sure it may have its advantages you may make him over commit in the fight which will lead to him making mistakes....
But what if it backfires and fuels the fire? what if it works for Tony then what?

No matter what any excuse comes up with for 2008..The fact is Cotto was not even hurting Margarito. And I am sure Margarito can not put "plaster" on his chin.
Also, Margarito hurt Cotto in as early as round 2. They say the substance Margarito had, gets harder as the rounds go on, in the later rounds. So how did Margarito hurt Cotto so early?
Well we dont know exactly how long he was wrapped and how long it takes to harden etc. Not like he plastered up in ring before round one.
are you talking about the hand wrapping 'experts' that have found margarito guilty of cheating in their first fight?
Thats exactly what he is referring to

Yes, I think mocorito can win in a fair fight. I don't think most Cotto fans are angry that he won in the first fight. I think we are angry that he almost certainly cheated to get that win.
Either way Cotto needs to be in great shape and in top form because Marg walked through 12 rounds of hell and kept on punching against Pac. So I don't expect him to let Cotto breath.
That a real possiblity and honestly that how the first fight was looking, Looking like cotto was going to outclass margarito and box him till death but he could not keep up the stamina.
In this fight I think if he does the same he can easily win. But I have a feeling this grudge match will bring out the man in Cotto and he will try to engage and trade but that will be his downfall.
If cottos boxes I honestly think he will win, But I also honestly think he wont BOX he will try and take margarito out, which I believe is a mistake.
The pressure that Tony put on him in their fight never gave Cotto a chance to really sit down on his shots and fire with any type of real pop behind them they also didnt give Cotto time to recover, he was never allowed to gain a 2nd wind due to that type of pressure
Nah cotto outboxes him a full 12. Even if margs didnt use plaster mosley broke him.

Margo will feel it
I dont see how, Cotto hit him with everything he had last time out and it didnt do squat...
Cotto better go after that eye IMO thats his only chance to win.

like denzel said in he got game IN SOME CASES its not the skill of the man its the will of the man and tony has one hell of will and hes tough as nails....
