Whats worse?? Hopkins losing to a construction worker or Manny losing to a teacher?
This is how stupid you are ! comparing Horn to Smith. at least Smith knocked out Fonfara who was competitive with Stevenson; the light heavyweight champion( in the first fight). Why do you post the most threads when you have no knowledge of this sport.
I give Horn all the credit for the effort of trying and not laying down to an all time great. but I am not going to get carried away and say he can beat the likes of Thurman or Spence.
We don't know that.
After all, Loma was supposed to wreck him in the first fight, weight and all.
He didn't.
Instead, Siri humbled him for a large portion of that fight until Loma found himself late.
See, Floyd didn't take a close victory over Castillo and move on; he rematched him immediately and removed ALL DOUBT.
Lennox Lewis didn't avoid McCall or Rahman; he got right back in with them and removed ALL DOUBT.
Froch didn't talk about his business with Groves being done. He got right back in and removed ALL DOUBT.
I am not seeing that out of Loma.
And I am seeing him avoid certain guys as well.
No, he stays at 9 on my list and is fortunate to be that high.
Hope that changes tho, he really looks the part.
We agree to disagree on Loma but other than that good chat, respect bro.
You got eyes.
The Donaire that Walters fought had shown noticeable decline in the two fights prior even tho they were Ws.
For example, he was down on 2 of three cards before he stopped Darchinyan, the same guy he'd destroyed 6 years earlier.
Don't try to be cute.
I'm a Rigondeaux fan too but not in the way you are. Arum deserves some of the blame but not all of it. The inactivity is why he's not rated higher on the P4P and that's Guillermo and his management team's fault.
Nonito Donaire was #5 P4P and the lineal.
And Donaire was STILL on P4P top 10 AFTER.
And, oh yeah, it was only Rigo's 11th pro fight.
Russell and Walters wins not anywhere on that level.
Moron.
Walters is not on the level of Donaire ??? Forget it...you win, you are right...what am I thinking. :pat:
The problem with ranking Loma over Rigo is
A) Rigo's win over Donaire is better than anything Loma has done in the ring
and
B) Loma took a very deserved L to Salido, who isn't quite elite.
There may come a time when Loma actually deserves to be rated over Rigo and others, but it isnt now.
Think about it...Ward, Kovalev, Crawford, Spence, Mikey, Canelo, One-Time, Rigo, Chocolatito, Pac, and Joshua ALL have better wins than Loma.
Schooling Gary Russel J.R. and making Nicholas Walters look like an amateur is why Lomachenko is so highly regarded you moron ! Those two are quality fighters and Loma gave them a boxing lesson, please do not procreate.
Poll added
"People are hyping him up due to the fact he's white European"
Don't be mad because a European is more athletic and better at boxing than you are and you ever will be (I know it hurts). Lomachenko's footwork and hand speed is some of the best in all of boxing if you can't see or acknowledge the skill level your just another racist hater.
Congrats to Thurman...wish him and his new bride the best but us fans are waiting for him to respond too Spence. A rematch with Porter is a waste of time.
I like Loma too.
Eye tests says he may be THE MOST GIFTED out there.
But P4P means more than the eye test.
It means you have to fight.
And do well or/and beat other P4P guys.
For example, Kovalev is STILL number 2 on my list.
And that's because I firmly believe that only Ward beats him in a P4P fight- and each time it happened it was close, even the decisive KO was a close fight.
Loma has NO SUCH win and worse has LOST to a guy that IS NOT elite. Worse, him or his people are not doing enough to get Salido back in the ring to correct that misstep.
Real champs, real P4P guys avenge losses or do the rematch to erase ALL DOUBT in close fights.
I don't see that from Loma yet.
So he stays at #9 P4P on my list...and even that is kind of a gift since I named 10 guys who have better wins than he does earlier in the thread.[/QUOT
Lomachenko would wreck Salido in a rematch, it's a pointless fight. Ward shouldn't be at # 1 anyway but I don't make the rules and as much as a I like Kovalev he is not as skilled as Loma or Crawford, even Thurman should be higher then Sergey.
Kovalev did good in first fight better in the second. good jab, right hand to the body, was better on the inside then in the first fight. In the late rounds he was setting started the right with his left hook for the KO before Ward got dirty.
Ward knew the end was coming that's why he started butting and crouch-shots. BTW where is Stevenson? why isn't he calling out both Ward, Kovalev or Jack.
Good question. I think Paq took on a whole lot of extra baggage when the fame came along, plus the fact he stopped evolving as a boxer is really disappointing as a fan.
His footwork was really impressive against Stiverne, Wilder's camp are doing a good job with developing him into a heavyweight champion. I'll be watching. Klitschko already got Fury... I wonder who Wilder gets next.
Both May and Paq have intangibles that can offset one another. either going to be a may or paq by decision, the cheery on top would be one of them getting knocked out. looking forward to something special.
His power is above average, I admit to getting caught up with the knockout of Hatton...In reality Paq doesn't have that devastating knockout punch, he get's you with his accumulation of fast punches with some pop behind it.
You got a point but boxing is a business so they have to do their job and hype up their fighters, I think the hype usually fools the casual fans. Disagree with Loma and Crawford they both show P4P skill in every fight.
Ward is arrogant and entitled. If he didn't get into that contract dispute with Goosen, he would have still been on HBO and probably would have been fought GGG by now, he is also managed by a midget hip-hop wanna be Al Capone (James Prince). There is nothing humble about Ward... still I like his chances against Kovalev but you cannot count out the Krusher.
Andrade would have been pretty good but I'm looking forward to this fight. Hurd is a good young prospect, we'll see if he's ready for the next level with Lara.
good thread. That's tough because there have been many good ones and whose to say that Sugar Ray Robinson is better then Jack Johnson or Mayweather is better than Ali. Personally I lean towards Larry Holmes.
Trout is a stepping stone and Hurd is an up-and-comer...really good hand speed, good footwork, throws with some pop, I'm surprised to read people picking Trout against him.
Jacobs face looked like he got hit by a mac truck. It was a big stage & GGG wanted to put on a show but he was trying too hard for the knockout which made him look more vulnerable than other fights but I still thought he won the fight comfortably, a rematch isn't needed. I hope Canelo is next.
Degale likes to sound off a whole lot. hope he doesn't underestimate Direll who is very slippery and can frustrate any fighter. been anticipating this one for a minute and it's still a toss up fight for me.
These casuals say boxing is dead ??? This has potential to be a great fight. Degale looks like he's ready to take that next step but this can be a great comeback fight for Direll, been looking forward to this one.
