Do you see any future prospects selling as many PPV'S or making the kind of money that Floyd and Manny have?
I think Joshua has a real shot at being the next big thing. Primarily because he's a heavyweight and a Euro. If he isnt already, he'll be a megastar in places like the UK, Germany, and Australia. He just needs to start fighting in the US if he wants to be a PPV draw.
For some reason the HW division captures the imagination of the casual fan. Hardcore fans appreciate all the divisions, but HW, MW, and WW are what peak the interest of peripheral fans.
With all this said..... if he becomes a draw, and Wilder can beat him (Disclaimer: Im not a Wilder fan). Well then Wilder has the charisma to truly be the next big thing. Hopefully his days of fighting cans will soon be over.
I always thought Cotto's KO of Mayorga was fishy. The infamous: Cotto hit Mayorga in the jaw so hard he broke Mayorga's thumb. It was a weird ending to a pretty entertaining fight. I'll always wonder if Mayorga plunked down major cash on himself to lose by KO in the 12th.

Broner will have good moments in the fight. But Mikey is too skilled. He'll dominate and win going away. I don't see Broner winning more than 4 rounds, work rate is too low, and he isn't KOing Mikey.
And then there's ALWAYS some kind of personal drama swirling around AB. When's the last time this dude has had a drama free camp? Mikey on the other hand is all business. The Arum thing is behind him and all he does is work.
Between the bros Vitali was always the better fighter if you compare him to Wlad.
Its too bad that his injuries and previous kickboxing career robbed him of his prime years.
Agreed, Vitali is Vlad with some dog in him, a mean streak.
Incredible the short memories people have here on NSB. Lemieux for as fun as he is to watch has a glass jaw. Damn people are forgetful. He steps up in Comp and he gets KO'd. Period, end of story.
I like to watch Broner fight... I'm a fan. I've never rooted for him to lose a big fight. Quite frankly if I like his opponent I still won't root for Broner to lose. And even I can admit; dude is a dork.
Belts mean sh_t anyway. He's still going to get the big fights and Danny Garcia is still the man at 140. Ruslan will still get a chance to get his gloves on JMM or Rios.
Cotto seems to have many possibilities at the moment. A rematch with Trout to avenge that loss (no thanks), a rematch if Floyd (since Floyd doesn't really have anyone to fight), GGG, Canelo (always has that in the backpocket if he ever loses), but how about Cotto make more history and go up 8 more pounds and try to take a belt at 168.
Huge money, fight can be in either Vegas or New York, or even the UK. Cotto can make more history and have a better chance with getting another strap against an aging Froch while avoiding the real 168 champ Ward. If Cotto doesn't win, he always has a fight with Canelo
Who knows, maybe Froch underestimates smaller Cotto, goes to try to knock him out, only to get caught like Ricky Hatton when he tried to bully the smaller Pacquiao

To be fair tho, cotto DID ultimately beat the lineal champ tho. Something plenty of middleweights have tried and failed to do.
Kind of hard to b1tch about if somebody should have been in there when they actuallybeat the lineal champ.
This^
When has Ward done anything that made any career sense (other than the SuperSix)? Plus you have to actually sign for a fight to be able to talk about it. Also, Ward is NorCal not SoCal.
I think Kellerman should talk about boxing more.... especially HBO fights given his association with it
I believe he tries to but ESPN and the drive time demographics force them to talk a lot of Lakers, Dodgers, and USC. That said it is SoCal so he gets away with talking boxing here and there. Usually the days right before and right after a fight weekend is when you can catch some BoxTalk. GGG is the first boxing guest I've heard on his radio show.. That's a first since I've been listening.
Both Martinez legs where gone, he couldn't move around the ring - he was like a punching bag.
Cotto had him down three times in the first round and couldn't finish him off, I think that really shows a lack of courage and will.
Martinez was there for the taking for 9 more rounds before his corner threw in the towel but Miguel did not have the skillset to knockout the 39 year old man (who is long past his day.)
I really hope they choose cottos next opponent wisely, TBE would knock him clean out early.

FYI: Bradley fought a series of fights as an amateur at 152. Getting to 154 1/2 is not an issue for him. But I don't want to see that.
But in order for Cotto to make some serious bank he needs to put that Lineal MW strap on the line. That's 154 1/2 to 160
WBC is going to try and force him to fight Marco Antonio Rubio (aka the next mexican in line for a WBC sponsored payday). Something tells me TR might have an option on DiBella's Andy Lee seeing as he was on the undercard and fighting at 154. He'd go back up to 160 for a shot at the lineal title and I'm sure Cotto considers him an easy win.
But Canelo makes the most sense. Thats a monstrous money maker.
Outside of some boxing specific podcasts Kellerman and Wiley are the only mainstream radio show that talks boxing at even a semi-regular basis. It's a good show. You can catch it on the espn radio app. GGG sounds good, excited for him to cross over into a mega star.
f8ck science, that sh1t is overrated. Proof -> Pudding, look at the eyes. It's a deformation caused by the abuse of PEDs (a specific kind of PED I don't know the name of, I would think it contains HGH).
Someone get a mod over here to clean up this manure.
I understand that "spelled" can be used in US English and you can use both "spelt" and "spelled" in UK/Australian English.
Guess What ...? I'm English from London (UK)
…..then cheers mate. Now defend your vs you're
He'll be off for more than a year and usually they strip for these kinds of things. In the case of the WBC, won't they put in the interim/emeritus title into play?
Wha........? Do any of you know what lineal means?
"Mexican cunt" isn't offensive? are you retarded?
Oh the irony…. This thread is one long clusterfock of stupidity and terrible grammar. We are all dumber for having read through 7 pages (and growing I'm sure) of this manure.
How the hell does the following get buried in this article:
Foster could be in hot water after appearing to agree with a prediction on Facebook that Froch would win in the ninth round BEFORE the fight.
This writer needs to get his head outta his a-hole.
As a huge Cotto fan I would love to see Cotto fight for the lineal MW Title. That said, I don't know if he could beat Sergio. Even this version with a bum leg. I know a lot of people think Sergio is done but he's been fighting some tough Euros with peek-a-boo styles that are difficult to hit flush. Yet still he's managed to pull out tough wins. Cotto has elite skill and he can possibly mitigate Sergio's foot speed with a simple jab but I don't know.... Sergio is gifted. Both are old, both aren't 100% of what they were, both are superb boxers with elite level skill. That usually makes for a real entertaining fight at this stage of a career arch. Canelo will still be there. He needs to take on Lara, it's an in house fight and beating Lara would really say something about Canelo being ready for prime time talent. Floyd made him look basic.
Yeah this is one of the only sports where i've seen fans hate on people for being too good.
Bull crap. The Yankees, Lakers/Celtics, and Patriots are amongst the most hated teams because they're so damn good.
I agree that boxing fans arent necessarily an educated bunch but other sports don't have 4+ different champions for the same division/league. So yeah it's okay in my book to critize a so-called champ or discredit the victory over a paper champ because titles don't mean a thing when there's over 4 ways to claim it. Lineal titles are all that really matter. Title shots are sometimes only that by definition and not legit, so therefore A champ isn't always THE CHAMP.
