why didn't you name those very good fighters?
Respond to my post first, instead of being a nit and picking on details. Then I will educate you on who his opponents were.
Beating bums won't make GGG great. Until he fights someone with a pulse the way Ward did, these 2 should never be mentioned in the same sentence
Ducking Stevenson and Golovkin in 2013 wasn't great for Ward. Eubank Jr., Jacobs, Saunders, and Canelo ducking Golovkin in 2016 wasn't great for Golovkin. But Ward's a B-side duck, and Golovkin is an A-side monster.
I hope your boy is ready for Kovalev.
First post here. I feel like I'm already going to attract a lot of hate, but here it is.
I put a ton of importance on ducking in these legacy/resume debates, and Ward has ducked several. His retirement, like Floyd Jr's retirement, are unacceptable, especially when you want to call yourself great. Next to the big boys like RJJ and James Toney, these two look like the biggest cherry pickers. Neither of which belong in the HOF.
Right now people are overlooking some very good fighters on Golovkin's resume. Unfortunately he didn't have opposition with big names from big boxing countries, but there have been some very good fighters.
Now if Ward does beat Kovalev by a wide margin UD, like some of you say you expect him to do, then yes Ward has the better resume. I doubt this will happen though imo.
FACT: Canelo demanded a catchweight
FACT: Golovkin promised to give Canelo a catchweight
FACT: When it came time to fight, Golovkin totally refused to negotiate on the weight.
Golovkin SHOOTS DOWN Canelo At 155lbs! Says 160 Or NO FIGHT.....

http://www.boxingscene.com/golovkin-canelo-155-demand-crazy-he-champion-160--101409
Two middleweight champions decide to fight at 160 lbs. *GASP* What has happened to boxing? Why the sudden change?
Historically, Canelo will be held in higher regard than Golovkin, no question.
Oh, and not a huge Khan fan btw.
Canelo is a multi-division champion who has beaten a number of opponents who were of a higher caliber then any of Golovkin's victims, and some were world-class.
higher caliber = held in greater regard within their respective divisions
Head-to-head it is debatable, but not on paper..... Canelo ranks higher, and he is not a middleweight (yet).
who, with consideration given to when/how, is the only criteria
Golovkin will be penalised for the poor state of the current middleweight division, but he certainly has not helped his cause by passing on top fights, including with Canelo himself.
Golovkin still has time, but not many opportunities on the horizon..... whereas Canelo has LOTS of time, and will have more big opportunities.
I just joined the forum.... Are there really Canelo supporters here? How does any boxing fan defend a blatant ducker? He dropped the green belt bro. I saw him hand it to Golovkin in person on youtube. How do you think Canelo's resume is better than Golovkin's with that big duck-shaped asterisk next to his name. (Vacated WBC Title Quack*)
Briggs is awesome. But he needs to hang em up before he gets hurt. He was something special, but he's old now. Even if he did land something big on Haye, he wouldn't be able to chase him around the ring. He's got no legs, cause he's old you know.
All valid points IMO, to an extent...
ggg has been trying to "unify" for what, five years now? I know it takes time, but not one fight had been a "unification" fight. Not one single win is significant.
Hedging your bets on a verbal from GBP is probably not the best thing for his career either. That's like Annie saying "you just stick around and keep posting and I'll send you a shirtless selfie next year". Doesn't make much sense, does it?
When you say a verbal by GBP, there's a bit more to it then that isn't there? Besides the two times he got step aside money, the WBC stepped in at one point with a mandate.
Golovkin has said many times that he wants all the belts. He's still going to have another bout this year after the Brook fight, if I recall correctly. Since he is fighting in England, hopefully he gives one of those call outs to Saunders and makes that happen. This leaves 2017 available for any money fights at 160 there are left. Mainly Canelo, Jacobs. I see Golovkin moving up to 168, but not after the money has been made at 160.
Mark my words. I got some inside info.
Its not happening, I haven't even seen what they both look like. But this is another standard can stepping stone.
Nah - Proska, Murray and Stevens are levels below Joseph Agbeko. Let's not talk about only Nonito.
Are we stupid here? Agbeko's best days were gone before he fought Rigondeaux. Forget I even said that. You're calling Proksa less of a fighter than Agbeko? Get out of here.
Nah. The world forgot about Pac already. Floyd still going supreme. The FLoyd hate theory on lasted in 2015. The only reason Pac is considering coming back is to stay relevant in that ego of his and the liberalism of senate leave in ze Philippines.
Notice how the Froid fan acts in the wild. Ignoring hard evidence, he presses on. He uses jibberish to make an argument. Quite a majestic animal.
Floyd used roids bro, its in stone.
Of course he wants a rematch, that's the most money anybody has ever made off of boxing.
but nobody gives a damn about mayweather vs Pacquaio 2.
Wouldn't you rather see them fight prime welterweights?
I'm not interested in seeing Floyd fight anybody he already beat.
Not manny, not cotto, not canelo.
Wake me up when one of them fights crawford, thurman, danny, spence,
Put it on CBS and I bet you people will give a damn about it.
Old man Stevenson doesn't have the skillset to compete with Ward, and doesn't have the defense to keep Beterbiev or Kovalev off of him. Once he steps up and fights one of the top dogs, he's done.
That's why diva Ward waited to 2016 to get into a new division. Quack quack.
Na he's not going far. He doesn't move after throwing, he gets caught after. He seems slow on his defensive moves, but then again he's being pretty casual in there it seems. The opponent just stood there though, made it look better.
Yes it was Master Ken, too much hugging spoils the sport we call boxing.
You don't prevent an opponent from countering by hugging. That's just not boxing. too much fouling by Floyd and not a single point deduction from Bayless tsk tsk tsk...

Don't mind if I steal that pic, its too good.
I wish Rigo had the resume to back it up as a great. Dude is truly a great boxer.
He destroyed Donaire. That's enough right there. Frampton and LSC are nobodies with great promoters.
I'll keep it simple, you don't get it. Pac knew Floyd's style ped testing is fishy and biased. Heck Floyd's contract is all biased and a form of manipulating the system to always be to his favor. Pac was smart not to bite that Olympic style USADA froid testing back in the day, and since he got fed up from all that chasing from all those road blocks floyd put at him so he can't get any closer, he got fed up and just bit the bullet and accepted whatever floyd calls for even that olympic style froid testing, in which case, Pac became dumb for accepting that rigged usada testing, but who can blame him when he has been chasing froid from pillar to post for 6 years.
Yes, Pac ducked floyd style olympic froid testing. That is right and is smart of him to do so. Since, the match finally arrived in 2015, obviously floyd came on with illegal shots of ivs going into the ring and only after 3 weeks was Floyd absolved from his sins with the magical wand of the TUE.
Preach brother preach! 750mL means nothing to Froid supporters. Life is full of irony, and Mayweather Jr. was full of roids in the Pac fight. And still threw TEN punches a round.
Stevenson's best days are gone, unless he's just taking his defenses lightly. He looks fatter and is slower. But Stevenson was really great. Great skills, both defensive and offensive skills. Too bad Andre Ward didn't take the offer in 2013 and retired instead.
Word! This is a better fight than Garcia and Broner too. Doubt Arum lets it happen though.
Better fight? This is THE fight. Thurman is the man at 147. I don't hear anyone else letting Thurman out there mouth.
lol calm down man, it was one fight. Wilder signed on to fight Povetkin in Russia, Povetkin obviously had some problems and the fight couldn't happen so he fought a lesser opponent . It happens.
If Wilder is terrible like you say, he'll be exposed. If he's actually better than you think, he may surprise you. The boxing gods have a way of sorting this out, just give it time.
I didn't watch the fight because it was a farce, but I already hear Wilder is already going into rehab for injuries. Guess Povetkin can wait one and a half years or so.
so Floyd uses roids and that's why everyone wants this fight including "CBS Sports"
lol.
pactord1sm
Networks does not equal everyone though. I'm sure the public hated watching Froid run and hold for 12 rounds, just as much as I did.
Mike McCallum
Watched an interview where he met Hagler at a convention. Hagler said he respected him, and Mike fired back and asked him why he never fought him.
Ward not only ducked Golovkin in 2013, but he also ducked Stevenson in 2013. Notice something about Ward going into retirement? Asterisk, respect it, not Ward.
"I said I would go to Oakland and fight Andre Ward at 168 and then we have the rematch at 175 in Montreal. I still haven't got a response from Andre Ward." -Adonis Stevenson June 2013
Andre Ward fights Rodriguez in November 2013 and retires.
Asterisk quack quack
My happiness has literally nothing to do with this discussion. This is Golovkin's intent, as he has stated so numerous times. And this is my projection of what will happen in 2017. Its a hopeful one, because nobody knows if fighting in England will pressure Saunders into fighting him or not. But fighting three or four times a year, no matter if its a welter or a mandatory, is better than fighting once a year and ducking along the way.
Who's got better wins? Rigo or GGG, riddle me that folks
Donaire and Agbeko vs Lemieux and Ouma?
Proksa, Murray, Stevens are all very good wins. But Rigo has Donaire. And that puts him over the top. But these lists would be different if boxing didn't forgive ducks so quickly. quack quack.
All the names are at 147-154, but Floyd's resume is weak compared to GGGs?
That poster Golovkin doesn't make sense lol
There is so much wrong with your post and its only one sentence. Who are names at 147? Who are names at 154?
Floyd's resume isn't weak compared to Golovkin's. But it is weak and is full of asterisks.
