Should there be more uproar about the scale of GGG avoidance? He was avoided by the entire middleweight division, literally.
From a historical perspective who else comes to mind? I can't think of many that were avoided on this level.
Boxers that ducked/ducking GGG
1---Felix sturm - wouldn't fight him for over 2 years when GGG was mandatory.
2---Peter quillin - said he will only fight for the may-pac kind of money, lol + he flew to Haymon to avoid GGG
3---Sergio martinez - "His promoter said that "no way I am putting him with this monster", GGG kept calling him out after his U.S. debut after every fight
4---Miguel cotto - ducked his mandatory(GGG) twice by fighting Geale and Canelo
5---Julio cesar chavez jr - Turned down 12mil offer by TR
6---Saul alvarez - Avoided his mando(GGG). Thinks that he is fighting at the weight-class of 155, as there is no such thing as a "155 weight-class" ,he is pretending to be not in the MW division because of GGG.There are 17 divisions just pick one, if you can't make 154 then you are a MW, simple. And then he dropped the belt when he had to fight GGG next, wow
7---Carl froch - After calling GGG out then when GGG accepted ,he backed down and now he is retired after making all the fuss, + GGG was calling him for more than a year b4 he was retired so no excuses for "retiring".
8---Andrea Ward - The diva of the 168lb division don't want to travel or meet the a-side GGG in a catchweight so he can become a good boy and get ktfo. Was willing to goto 160 for Floyd but when GGG said 164, Ward ducked + he was fine when Dawson came down a whole division for him but wont move half a division for GGG, smh
9---Billy joe Saunders - Even before winning the WBO title from Lee his fear of Golovkin was as biright as day this is just one of many interviews(https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jJuwAz-ekoQ), then after winning it he priced himslef out at 6 mil$. Then turned down $3.2mill offer from k-2(its 2.2 gbp so I converted)
10---Eubank jr - Very similar to Froch's duck of GGG, after calling GGG out he ducked when he had to sign
11---Hassaan ndam njikam -When Hassaan was WBO champ, he was ordered to a purse bid to face Golovkin no less than two times and he was a no show each time.
12---Darren Barker - When Barker defeated Geale to become IBF champ, his promoter openly said that Barker will fight any1 except GGG
That's a long list of ducks GG haters hate to talk about.
Ward is younger and has 6 less fights.
It is Golovkin's fault he's not man enough to move up, Golovkin doesn't even have courage to fight middleweights.
He has been fighting middleweights. Just none left that want to fight him. He may have no choice but to move up so he can keep active.
ward ducked GGG? come on man stop it
Golovkin replied to AllBoxing.ru:
"Hey, Ward, wake up! Why are you talking trash about other people? Speak for yourself. If you're trying to make a name for yourself by mentioning me to build up your own fight, then be a man about it and tell the truth. At our meeting with HBO they asked us whether we are ready to box. You know our answers - I said yes, you said no. You said something about your shoulder or promoter - I'm not interested in the reason, I only heard your "no." But you remember that HBO said then that they would need a long time to build-up the fight. Then what the **** are you talking about excuses?"
Yeah its pretty pathetic that welterweights actually have more balls than guys in his own division. Still he should just move up though after the brook fight hes not getting anyone at 160 in the ring with him
Move up for whom? Who is ready to face him? Why do you throw moving up as if there was that huge megafight waiting for him at 168, while 160 has the more known guys and fights if people stop ducking. 168 has no hype whatsoever.

Ward then tried defending himself saying he had an injury but he got stripped of his title for never presenting evidence that he had an injury.
Good one. Thanks for posting it. Ward is great but he's like the elusive butterfly. Once in a long while he steps into the ring. GGG walks the walk and continues to remain active. Not his fault if no one has the testicular fortitude to fight him. Give Brook some credit for stepping up but he will in all likelihood be another statistic in GGGs resume.
Pryor fought at 140 his whole career and never moved up an ounce. The same goes for Hagler, Zale, Monzon and many other all time greats. Hopkins never moved up until he was 41 years old. You not only don't know boxing today, you also don't know boxing history. Take a risk? GGG takes a risk every time he fights just like every other fighter. GGG is a 7 to 1 favorite to beat Brook while Ward is a 30 to 1 favorite to win his next fight. Tell Ward to take a risk real full of BS pugilist.
but but but super six doe

Lil G targeted Canelo, Eubank, Brook. Obvious he was only interested in a pay day.I believe his team offered Saunders good money to fight him and were turned down.Of course he targeted Canelo. Canelo had a title belt and GGG has clearly stated so many times his goal is to unify 160. A professional prize fighter only interested in a payday? That's shocking and disgraceful.
Yes he is avoided without a doubt. That still is not a good reason to fight above his best fighting weight. That'a good way for a great fighter to lose.He makes 160 with ease and he would be a huge betting favorite to beat any middleweight. If a 168 or 175 pound boxer who is just as good pound for pound as GGG comes along and GGG fights him at that fighter's weight he will lose. It takes a hell of a fighter to be the best in the world at his proper weight. To ask a fighter to fight above his correct and best weight weight is unfair. That's why they have weight classes. If two fighters are equal pound for pound the bigger fighter wins. Some posters say GGG should just move up to 168 or 175 as if it's no big deal just a walk in the park. It is a big deal.
It doesn't even make sense anymore. Golovkin is not a 1 punch KO artist, it's not THAT dangerous for your health. Worst case scenario he breaks you down and you get TKOd. He's still highly respected , a P4P fighter, and offers a damn good payday.
He's been steadily gaining popularity, and getting older I might add. The risk/reward of fighting Golovkin is getting more and more appealing.
Idiotic, Paul Williams and Michael Moorer were avoided. They moved up.
so did mike mccallum, aaron pryor, sam landforde, charley burley, etc
take a risk k2

We'll fight anyone from 154-168 as long as HBO approves, as long as we get the lions share of the money, as long as we dictate all terms, and as long as your name isn't Andre Ward.
There should absolutely be more anger towards the rest of his division than there is towards Golovkin. It's stupid that people blame him for being ducked.
Only one I can think of is Williams and even he got a fighter the caliber of Margarito in the ring with him.
GGG is p4p one of the most avoided guys in the sport. I also love how the Ward fans pretend the incident in 2013 never occurred and that Ward never ducked.
If prime Margarito was about these days you can bet he'd fight GGG too. That guy didn't give a f*ck.
Yes, they should be uproar and any there is is justified.
The MW division has been openly avoided him for a number of years. As a whole they should be frowned upon. It's a bad look for the sport.
He's not well liked on these forums, so you won't see much annoyance. There was even threads (when Canelo faced Cotto) of how funny it would be if the winner vacated and didn't face GGG. You get the sense that these kind of posters are nervous of him landing that 'big fight'..as he has a great chance of winning.
But, yes..to answer the thread question. The situation at MW should be frowned upon.
"I said I would go to Oakland and fight Andre Ward at 168 and then we have the rematch at 175 in Montreal. I still haven't got a response from Andre Ward." -Adonis Stevenson June 2013
Andre Ward fights Rodriguez in November 2013 and retires.
