cmon guys...why are all of you so easy to draw in and fool?
James Toney is talkin shit. James Toney said "There will never be a White Heavyweight Champion" like he says he'll beat Klitchsko--he's just drawing attention to himself hoping to get a title shot. Its what he does. And some old article of his has you guys chirpin like birds.
@Detluv -- Toney = HOF whether you like it or not.
@beez721 -- Toney is a very intelligent boxer and when he's in front of a microphone he is even better at playing with people's perception.
@Clegg -- I'm not going to explain anything to you, white boy. Joe Calzaghe has a padded record and doesn't deserve HOF status, you fucking Brit.
See?
Yeah, they must be racist, eh?:alcoholic
No, just stupid.
"black people are racist"
"Slavic came from the word slave, thats why we're strong!"
"No you idiot, you're a gardener."
"James Toney is not an intelligent man."
"Def. not a HOF!"
i don't think he ducked miranda he just has a different outlook on his career than we do he claimed that he wanted to be a champion again so thats what he's trying to do
Then why enter into talks with Mirandas camp and then back out last minute without so much as an explanation? If you know something I don't please fill me in...
So you have an opinion and you aren't willing to take into consideration the views of anyone else, even though those people may have more knowledge than yourself about the subject being discussed?
Well done, this is the thread for you!
Dude...get out of here with that shit. I've gone round and round with people on this website, writing paragraphs and pages worth of intelligent argument with other intelligent (and not so) posters. I've come to the realization that the body of evidence I see means nothing to others just as theirs means nothing to me.
That is the origin of my comment.
But since you seem to know so much, engage me. Give me two or three signature Kessler fights you think everyone should watch, something that when you think of Kessler being great, you remember those fights.
Any of them I haven't seen already I'll download and watch objectively.
My main criticism with Kessler is his resume and my strong belief that he ducked Miranda and would rather fight weak mandatories than real challengers.
dirt diggler is just obsessed with his counrtymen. kessler may be a little overrated career wise but kessler is a very good boxer and in my oppinion will beat everyone from 168 to 160 he just has not yet fought anyone that you want to see him fight like a pavlik, taylor or miranda
Thats my biggest problem with him, I've stated many times he is a great boxer, but lets face it, Kessler fans, Calzaghe fans, lets face it, he ducked Miranda and continues to fight highly overmatched mandatorys.
As El Dominicano said "you are who you beat."
I didn't say that Kessler is great, all I did was comment on the fact that you seemed to be saying that you weren't willing to listen to the opinions of others.
I don't think that I know all that much, but I do know that sometimes someone can make an argument that is persuasive enough to change my opinion on something. This can even happen with boxers that I am very familiar with.
Some people are just better at analyzing and identifying certain aspects of boxing than I am...all I'm saying is that it's good to keep an open mind and it sounded like you weren't willing to.
But hey, it was a brief comment, maybe I read too much into it, just the way it seemed, that's all.
Its cool. I've had a hard time around here lately for expressing my views honestly about Kessler. I do it respectfully and get Red K and people telling me to fuck off just because I think Kessler is overrated. And when I try to engage people about it, or bring up how he dodged Miranda, they skip over those details and do not deviate from their original argument.
Its ridiculous.
Im a big fan of Berto, and at the end of the day I'd rather watch im fight than any of the other welterweights. hes got a good style, his defense has improved, he is incredibly fast and counter punches well. What I like most about Berto is that he has become noticeably better with each fight. You usually only see that progression in elite fighters.
His next test should be Quintana. It wouldn't be easy for Berto, I would predict UD or very late KO (coming off the loss to PW) and it would be an excellent learning experience and a good proving ground for this young and no longer prospect boxer.
I rank him top 10 but after hearing he did steroids I dont respect him as much. Either way though if he accomplished that without steroids I would put him in top 5 ATG
What he used was an over the counter body supplement from GNC that became illegal after he started using it to train.
BoxingScene is an Online Community
As you guys Know, I am trademark name on BoxingScene for my Threads,Posts, and Persona. I have been through it all on here.Countless Arguments, Continuous Battles with the Opposition, Legendary Flame Wars, and Famous Rivalries.
With that said, We all know that this is the INTERNET, and it is separate from all of our real lives and it is not that serious and just for fun. The reality of the situation is that Most of us have jobs, families, and some of us go to school. And That is just a reality of the situation for all of us. We all come from different Backgrounds.Separate From what we do with our real life obligations. But it is our Freetime is what brings us together
And with that Free Time, Some people are Video Gamers,Sports Clubs members,Professional Bloggers, and apart of recreational teams or projects. All of those things have one thing in common, and that is that each of them are a community of people coming together to do something they are all interested in. And Boxingscene is no different.
Let's not fool ourselves and try to say BOXINGSCENE is not apart of our lives. Just as Video Gamers,Sports Clubs members,Professional Bloggers dont fool themselves and say it is not apart of their lives. BoxingScene is an Online Community in which it's members
come from all places, to come and talk about boxing and etc.
And with each community, they are groups, notably personalities, and order.
BoxingScene is no different. We have groups, notably personalities, and order.
So I write this commonly known truth about us, to pose these question:
How do you know when you have taken BOXINGSCENE conflicts Personal.??
And Is it ok to take BOXINGSCENE conflicts Personal and beyond jokes and ridicule..???
There is so much that is laughable about this post I don't even know where to start.
Besides the fact that he is my favorite boxer, he is definitely an all time great. Even with his weight issues he made the competition look foolish. He is only one of two men to knock out Evander Holyfield. His record is an impressive 70-6.
Talking on the steroids...please. The steroids had nothing to do with what won him matches--arguably the best defense in boxing history. He didn't hide behind his gloves and slow matches to a standstill. Toney used a combination of slips, shoulder rolls, head movements, bending a side stepping to dodge punches and throw counter punches. And if he did get hit, the guys chin was amazing. Even at 39 years of age the young knockout artist Sam Peter couldn't get Toney to the canvas. He has never been KO'd and has seen the mat only once in 80 bouts against Jones Jr.
He was 44-0 before his first loss.
Besides the fact that all of these fighters are exciting to watch, Floyds middle name isn't Gaylove and if you wanted everyone to come in here and vote for him just to validate your little opinion of him that is pretty pathetic.
People with great resumes: Micheal Jordan, Tiger Woods, Ali, Joe Louis, etc etc, don't have to defend their resumes, ever. These arguments don't ever happen like they CONSTANTLY do with calzaghe nuthuggers. Deep down all of you know he has a weak ass resume and that's why you all write paragraph after paragraph trying to defend Joe and his resume. His legacy in Britain is secured, people love him there. In America and the rest of the boxing world every one knows what Joe Calzaghe is: a very good fighter, not great, who at all cost set up fights to preserve a undefeated record which he sees as "hallowed" and "immortal."
Absolutely, and thats why Jones is fighting Calzaghe, because he doesn't want there to be any room to argue about his ATG status and Calzaghe isn't interested in doing that.
I don't think Kessler would beat Pavlik but it would be a good fight. I'd like to see AA fight Pavlik though, seems like a fight of the year match up...
WTF??????? Am i looking at this shit right? No way is he a all time great. He's good but not a all time great
Explain? What do you consider All Time Great and why doesn't he meet criteria?
That's pushing it a bit. Kessler has done a bit of mileage, whereas Berto has just come out of the showroom.
He has the mileage but outside of his loss to Calzaghe he hasn't fought anyone special...
I compared their resumes because even though Berto has 22 wins, he has two belts and is already stepping up to reputable competition and aims for the top.
Andre Berto is the future of the Welterweight division...he shows drastic improvement in each fight, he doesn't waste any punches (his last fight he went 63% in power punches), and he throws the best uppercut I've seen since a young James Toney.
Teddy Atlas is the fuckin MAN.
I started reading that Oscar book and the guy is so damn full of himself...I couldn't continue. Too many cliches and self aggrandizing statements.
