you're on of the ones making exuses and not posting anything logical really to back up the excuses. tarver landed a so called lucky shot that jones went down from and didn't get up to beat the count from. the shot also made jones back up a lot in their third fight. johnson made jones look dead.
floyd's resume vs roy's resume is hard to compare really when determining who fought better competition when people are too stuck on claiming who they've ducked.
now you claimed floyd did enough to win in his toughest fights, but he still won. while, roy was knocked out in his toughest fights. what's that saying. that's not taking away from his talent at all, but it does play a role in comparing these 2.
you can have your opinion on what roy did better than floyd in as far as skillset goes, but that's just ypur opinion, imo, floyd's skillset was much more polished and well rounded than roy's, and many people will agree that he was more fluent with his punches and was better defensively and fought better off of the ropes, etc. i could go on forever. his jab was a hell of a lot better than roy's was.
i dont even know why there is an argument for this. prime to prime evryone knows Jones wins fair and square, jus coz floyd was better than Jones at SOME things doesnt make him better than Jones...
haha RJ didnt need a jab...
Jones was/is more popular and more spectacular but i think Mayweather's defense is allot better than Jones ever was. Even in his prime he slept punches very well but that's not the best way to defend because you are not throwing punches while you are slipping punches (for 80% of the movement at least). Mayweather also had allot of power in his weight class. I'd call it a tie for the respect i have for both fighters.
P4P Jones is more powerful.

Jones didnt need to rely on defense like Mayweather.
You should have set up a poll.
I'd probably say RJJ.

lots of people with 0 losses. most havent fought the best. this holds true for floyd.and not for roy huh? seeing how
floyd has won championships in all of his weight classes, your post looks awful.
C'mon.
Roy Jones by far.. He demolished his opponents.
Like some1 said earlier he had NO close fights in his prime.
As for adaptability, he was always dominant so he really didn't have to..
Lets be fuckin honest, he got KO'ed 2ce back to back.. The Tarver punch was a lucky shot.. That does NOT diminish him as a fighter..
He was just a freak.
Power, speed, athleticism, footwork, ring generalship was just better than PBF..
His style is unorthodox but it worked for him.
------------
Floyd has been in some close fights.
He didn't dominate like Roy did..
He would do just enough to win..
Look at Floyds biggest fights..
DLH (old), Castillo.. (im negating corrales b/c it doesnt help my arguement)
Now Roy
Toney (#1 p4p) who he dominated with ease, hopkins (boring but easy win), Glen Kelly, Griffin (2nd fight)..
Roy was the better fighter and the best p4p fighter that ever lived..

lol, which fighter have you seen stay undefeated up till 40?so, you're basing this off of past fighters? that's a little naive on your part. you still don't know.

and you know this how? i can't wait for your response.
It's all just opinion.
Having said that I would think it very unlikely that given how much Floyd relies on his speed for his fight game to be effective he could still beat top class competition past 35.
I have a massive amount of respect for both guys but I would have to go with Roy. The thing that stands out most for me about Roy was just how dominant he was in his prime. I have never seen a fighter that dominant before. Floyd is a great fighter but nowhere near as dominant against lesser opposition.
floyd mayweather jr is the greatest fighter of his generation, which means past 15 years or not, it really doesn't matter. i'd say floyd's era began in 1998 after he won his first championship. i've read posts claiming roy was the better fighter, and that's all fine and good, but if you look at stats from both fighters, floyd is the better fighter p4p. i mean, no one's taking away from roy's talent, he was the most unique fighter with talent i've ever witnessed, but he suffered 3 defeats and you can make any excuse for him all you wants, it doesn't negate the fact that he was knocked out back to back by tarver and johnson. him coming down from heavyweight to beat john ruiz, a guy who many people considered one of the worst heavyweights ever, is still an amazing feat, but, that only further proves that skills and a smart mindset wins you fights, not size. floyd mayweather moved up 4 weightclasses and is still undefeated despite being smaller than his opponents, and he came down from 154 to knock out an undefeated fighter and wolrd class fighter in ricky hatton.
look at roy's defining fights, he beat a young james toney, hopkins, beat trinidad in his comeback fight, is about to fight joe c, has a few undefeated fighters on his resume. but, he lost to tarver in their 2nd and third fight, after winning what people call a gift given to him in their 1st fight.
all i read from people on here is in roy's prime, in roy's prime, well, prime or not, the fucker has lost 3 fights. when people say floyd got a gift from castillo, despite being injured and the smaller fighter, he had no excuses, he fought him again, and won again. roy jones had every excuse in the world when he lost to tarver the 2nd time. the reason i bring this up is because many of you posters on here have been riding floyd for several years now for his words, yet, when it comes to him ducking him or ducking him, or this guy, that guy, nobody really rides jones as much as floyd. it sickens me to come on here and continuously read the same bulllshit from people.
me fighting for 8 years of my life, and watching both roy jones's and floyd's careers unfold, i know their fighting styles and i know most of their fights, and floyd mayweather jr is the better fighter, like it or not, i call it like i see.
thing thing that gets me is that when it comes to jones losing to tarver twice and johnson, 2 of those ending in devastating ko's, i've noticed for a few years that you guys just throw that out of the window, yet, floyd beat a castillo with a torn rotator's cuff and rematched him when many felt he lost and beat him again, you guys love to hold on to that first fight.
bring all the excuses you want people, floyd retired undefeated, on top, and with amazing accomplishments, period. roy jones coming down from heavyweight to fight tarver when he had the chance to fight him before moving up is his fault. he was more talented fighter, he was the more known fighter, and he had the power to make tarver move up more than he did to fight him. tarver just wanted the fight. jones rapping and doing all of that outside stuff when he should have been training hard is his fault. age has nothing to do with it. hopkins beat tarver moving up to 175. joe c is fighting at age 35+ and is still undefeated, no excuse. his outside ventures is hsi problem. you tell me how floyd can make a rap song, train for a fight, while participate in dancing with the stars, yet still knockout an undefeated fighter, but roy can't with all of his amazing talent. i mean, floyd has brittle fucking hands. imagine him heavy handed. floyd fought a de la hoya who people say was part time with his fighting, past his prime, and old, yet, people are claiming that he is going to kill pacman because of the weight difference, well, when you're as skillful as floyd mayweather jr., past or present floyd mayweather jr., size don't mean shit, skills pay the bills as he has often mentioned before and after his fights. if roy jones can go up to heavyweight and fight a john ruiz and get credit for it, then floyd can go up to jr. middleweight and fight an oscar de la hoya who gave himself all of the advantages, and is more accomplished than ruiz and floyd can get credit for it, and he called out oscar more than few times just like he called out mosley back when they were both active.
you fuckers can have your opinion on there 2 all you want, but i've watched all of their fights and many of them in slow motion to study their styles to a tee, so i could compare them like i can. many of you can't say that i bet, but if any of you want to challenge me to prove me wrong, i fully welcome one.
these two are rare, special fighters out of many good fighters that have come along. skillwise, mayweather is better as far as overall skillset, but roy jones jr, is also a very talented fighter with an unbelievable style and he has accomplished a lot in his career, and in his prime, he was imo untouchable in hsi weight classes, but it goes to show, losses mean a little more than nothing when comparing greats, and floyd hasn't lost, ory has 4 times and i know one was a dq, but you have to be smart in the ring, and a few times, roy wasn't, floyd is by far the more intelligent fighter, he's gym rat all year round, he prepares for his fights extremely hard, training a full regiment sometimes twice a day, and watching more than few of his training videos, i can see why he's the most skilled fighter i've ever seen. from his padwork, which is phenomenal to say the least to his jump rope routine which is sick, to him punching the heavybag at the same pace 2500 to 3500 times, to how he does his situps. the man is the best fighter of the past 20 years imo, if not more. he really does have to be at a disadvantage physically for his opponent to have a shot of beating him, and even then, his skillset is too great.
floyd takes this one.
