The smoking gun he could have gotten away with it if only he would have made it close, but had to make it obvious to everyone without realizing it. Harder to convince the world who had Lara edging it that they had it wrong when 1 of the guys wasn't even watching the fight.

This score card is asinine. The 12th and a few other rounds are notable for all of the judges. Martinez card....is a sham.
Fight was a draw. I think his movement was fine, it was his lack of punching that was the problem. Chris Algieri used movement just as much but when you're not punching a whole lot you're gonna have a tough time winning rounds.
All credit to Miguel here, but now that he's got that belt at middleweight- that lineal championship- I want the bull**** fights with junior middleweights and welterweights to stop.
I think, overall, middleweight is my favorite division. Seems like a great mix of speed and yet guys who get big enough to band decently, too. The last thing I want is for 160 to now attract blown up little guys trying to take Cotto's belt as he declines over the next few years.
Miguel is now lineal middleweight champion. He's got Hopkins' belt. He's the man. So fight legitimate middleweight challengers. That's why I can't go with Canelo.
Better or worse, it's Golovkin time. (Assuming he wins his next fight.)
This is what should happen but it won't and we all know it. If Cotto does take on the top MW contender (and a belt holder) in GGG then he's got an ATG sack.
I made a thread a few days ago stating when would we learn regarding the hype brawlers get even tough 9/10 they get exposed by boxers.
So my new discussion is regarding Porter, he will get exposed just like the other brawlers who have entered the ring before him.
Please slow down the hype before you get butt hurt once again..
Thanks
So what? Jack Dempsey was a "brawler", Mike Tyson was a "brawler". Sometimes there is a guy who just blasts people and it works because the other fighter just doesn't know how to deal with that kind of aggression. Also, it's fun as hell to watch. I really don't care how long his career lasts or what kind of legacy he leaves I just hope we see him for a long time cause he's fun to watch.
Tyson- Puncher/Boxer with tons of skills..
Dempsey- Puncher/Boxer with tons of skills..
I don't disagree with you at all but now days you are immediately labeled a "brawler" which is supposed to have a negative connotation even if you have skills and power.
Fights make fights, even lesser fights make fights and keep you busy and in top form. I wouldn't care about the Salka fight if Danny was fighting 5-10 times a year.
Average fighter who loses more big fights than he wins but has a hardcore fanbase consisting 50% of Puerto Ricans and 50% of guys into tribal tattoos who keep saying "but Cotto is a WARRIOR" and comparing him to video game characters.
He is the most overrated fighter in boxing by a longshot.
Agreed, and I love the early and current Cotto.
I hope that Gamboa's team realizes that Crawford is predominantly a southpaw fighter even though he switches with ease. They probably should have him sparring as much as possible with southpaw's.
Only one guy this generation has fought opponents who were considered:
#1 P4P (Floyd or Manny)
#2 P4P (Floyd or Manny)
#3 P4P (Martinez)
His name is Miguel Cotto.
I agree with the first two but who is considered P4P and what the fighter actually is in the ring is a different thing. P4P rankings are based on past performances and respect. Realistically Martinez should not have been all that high on a P4P list if you considered his "win" over Murray. Not to mention he was a shell of himself on fight night. He probably still deserved to be up there but again most of his status on that list is based on his history. I still say that JCC Jr. ruined him as a top fighter.
It's funny how the Pac-tards like to forget that their false idol has been defeated by 5 different men.
1. Juan Manuel Marquez
2. Timothy Bradley
3. Erik Morales
4. Medgoen Singsurat
5. Rustico Torrecampo
Except Timothy Bradley never beat him.
Only two of those losses count in the minds of Pac worshippers because the Bradley loss was a robbery and the first two losses occurred BP (Before PEDS).
The first two losses are legit losses but Pac was a growing fighter at the time. What counts in his career are his prime wins against top competition and his prime losses against top competition. His professional career started really early and it's not like he had a huge amateur background to grow as a fighter. Do two losses before he was even Pacman diminish his amazing prime years of his career? Not to me.
And yes, the first Bradley fight was a complete robbery. I'm not even that big of a pac guy, just a realist.
I still haven't seen evidence that glass chins exist, just fighters with defensive lapses.
If that were true than every fighter that doesn't get KO'd or knocked down would have good defense, which we know isn't true. In that case if some guys have strong chins, invariably some guys have weak chins.
If Pacquiao lost to Bradley, then Chavez drew Whitaker, Holyfield drew Lewis...
Real fans - we're taking boxing back. We don't accept BS decision robberies are just, and legit.
Thank you. I don't give a crap what the "official" decision is in a fight 95% of the boxing world agrees on. So what if the Bradley loss is on Pac's record officially.
Considering that Gatti is in there they both should get in because they are far better. The standards are obviously low and there are already boxer's that shouldn't be in there. It's too late to start raising standards.
This is my problem with guys like Gatti getting in. It lowers the bar so much that basically anybody that won a belt on tv gets in. I don't think Gatti should ever have gotten into the HOF.
So basically he's saying he's never going to fight GGG because the fight WILL NEVER GET CLOSE to the May Pac fight. I used to like Quillin but he's turned into a joke. Put up or shut up. GGG washes him.
This dude saying he's the star of the division? He's delusional. He's saying he doesn't even want to go after the current lineal champ? Just a giant joke.
This is a question for all the cotto fans. What has cotto done since beating Mosley in 07,that has made him the a side in negotiations? He beat an old as dirt mayorga, got destroyed by margarito (its excused because of the handwraps),gets the piss beat out of him by Pacquiao, beats a one eyed Pacquiao left over,in margarito, loses to Floyd, gets clowned by Austin trout, beats an obscure Dominican middleweight, and fights what was left of a one legged martinez, who had been through several surguries, and a long period of inactivity. The way I see it,he's done nothing out of the ordinary in the last 8 years, other than when he steps up against a HEALTHY,high ranked fighter,he either gets outclassed,or gets the **** beat out of him. Are you guys just fans, and defending because he's Puerto Rican?
Hahhaha BINGO and I was a huge fan of Cotto from the start. I still like him when he attacks the body like he has been his last two fights but the guy is vastly overrated by many fans in boxing.
Matthysse boxed very well against Provo a rematch with Danny would be even more tough for swift of course i think my boy would win but id be a fool if I didn't say it could go either way.
It was a 50/50 fight before they fought the last time and it's a 50/50 fight if they go at it again. Nothing that happened in the first fight indicates to me that Danny should be the big favorite. It was a close fight all the way until Lucas eye got jacked and even then the fight was tightly contested down the stretch.
People overacted to that loss and totally dismissed Mattysse as a caveman brawler, which clearly is not the case.
I didn't mean their two styles being the same. I was just referring to where they generate their power. Kovalev and Tito gyrate their whole body into their punch. Kovalev throws while in a forward motion. Even when he is stationary he throws a punch with his body in a forward kinetic motion. Guys like Hopkins, Lara, Khan, etc don't rely solely on forward motion to mount an offense. Sure they do it, but can throw assorted punches from different trajectories.
Which is why none of them have the power Kovalev has. Kovalev uses the weight of his body moving forward and a straight arm to generate a lot of power (other than his natural god given power). So yes, he uses forward kinetic motion to punch but generates much more power than guys like Lara, Khan, Hopkins. Kovalev fights how HE should to be most effective as a fighter.

I don't. Hagler is the middleweight G.O.A.T. He would pound both Hopkin's and RJ.
I agree that Haggler is in the top 1-3 all time at MW.
What about guys like Carlos Monzon? SRR at Middle? Ezzard Charles? Then there is the seriously underrated Mike McCallum in the late 80's early 90's. Hell even RJJ and James Tony when he wasn't a fat ass. I don't think that Haggler beats every single one of those guys even thought I'd have him favored against some of them.
