Like all other sports the score is on the board and whoever has the most points when the time runs out wins. That way there would never be controversy, every fighter has their own style and I don't see why who you r fighting and the stage you r fighting on changes how you see the fight. Everyone knows this is how Lara fight, vs. trout it was a blowout , vs. Angulo he did very well but Angulo was able to find him, there isn't a boxing trainer out there that would tell u to stand still and trade with a puncher, this fight was just like charlo vs rosado and charlo won, Vazquez stays on his bike from beginning to end and he wins, srl vs Duran 2 ray boxes his ears off, Floyd was a known runner he wins Algeri vs Provo same deal but vs the cash cow n a Ppv view fight it's a disgrace and u lose I just wish it was an open scoreboard and certain things adds and subtracts from your score and @ the end clear cut winner, I didn't know aggression and effort wins u the fight even tho u don't land. Chino damn sure didn't win and he gave way more effort and actually did damage
This is not rocket science, people are over thinking this. One live score decides the winner that night and it becomes official when scored on tape live through sometime type of internet channel. It's that dam simple. No more bs results
Accept boxing for what it is. Sports entertainment. The sport needs Canelo and him winning is good for everybody. Without Canelo, Lara doesn't become a millionaire the day before his daughter is born.
It's not easy to get decisions against guys like this. Floyd shut him out and almost got a raw deal. Lara knew what he was getting into. And he's been through this 3 times already and has done nothing to make changes to his game. Judges just don't like too much movement.
The 10 point must system is the best we can do. Its up to the fighters to adapt and know what they are up against.
Just throwing my 2 cents.
Without changing the scoring system , there could be instant highlights displayed to the judges in between rounds. I suppose it'd be doable.
It wouldn't solve the problem, not entirely, but might minimize ridicolous scorecards, unless corruption is involved, of course.
It seems like it depends on what fighting style u like when u judge a fight, now I'm a fan who loves action but can appreciate sticking and moving but I like to get fighters and trainers opinions about the fight because they may view it differently from a pro fighters perspective. To me if this fight were against anyone else Lara would have won. Movement troubles canelo and I'm sure after the bell rung inside he kno he didn't win, but to each it's on this definitely isn't the first and won't b the last screwed up score
Propose a scoring system to remove subjectiveness from scoring a fight and I'll tell you why it wouldn't work.
They tried to do this in the ams, with the 'counted punches' scoring system, only to find that that's just as open to personal interpretation, and have now returned to the must system.
The ten point 'must' system has always appeared a bizarre means of scoring a fight to me, but I've not been able to think up a system which would provide more objective results or that would remove accusations of bias or personal preference towards either a fighter or fighting style.
The only way to make a fight result clear cut would be to return to the days of 'last man standing', which ain't gonna happen (and nor should anyone wish it to) or perhaps to turn the sport into some high tech sparring game with full body sensors to detect the exact placement and power of every punch (which sounds to me nearly as bad as the first option).
Like I said to begin - propose a scoring system and I'll tell you why it won't work, though I think every fan of the sport understands your frustration with scoring as it currently stands.
Yeah but it'd be almost impossible we can both land the same shot mine bigger then yours vice versa how you gonna score that in a big I mean it's not difficult to score a fight
Clean effective punches
Ring general ship
Defense
And then punches landed if the rounds close to close since I don't like 10-10 rounds

It will take hi-tech futuristic advancements in technology before you'll see an accurate running scoreboard for boxing. But yeah, it would be nice when technology would make scoring more accurate and make obsolete the subjectivity of human judges.
The futuristic scenario I see is something like what's currently done with fencing, where sensors score for each touch of the foil to the opponent's body. But the technology would have to be advanced to where the fighters don't have to wear the sensing gear worn by fencers.
I envision technology that would more accurately score connected punches like compubox is trying to do, and the technology would be advanced enough to also measure the force of each punch, scoring more for debilitating punches than for pitty-pat touches.
LOL...dream on.
A few good points in this post. The bold is one of my favorites. I love how so many people think you're supposed to stand there and exchange with a guy that hits harder than you do. Another favorite of mine is: Lara ran, he should've stood in the pocket like Floyd does and boxed. There's only one Floyd. If Lara could do that, he'd be the #1 P4P fighter.
But, hey, whatever. Arguments are a staple of all sports discussions. I've heard guys say Derek Jeter is overrated for years. lol
MR.3000 OVERRATED? Those are just Yankee haters lol yankees fan in the house jeter my man crush no homo

but any trainer will tell you not to run and loose the fight either. If the other guy is heavy handed, you BOX, because by BOXING you will have a better chance of winning than Running.

Lara lost ! Floyd drained Canelo but explaining draining to idiot is like explaining to a light bulb
I agree, Canelo was drained by Floyd but Lara won last night.
I'm not too bothered by the decision. Lara won and it's pretty clear, Martinez needs to be banned ASAP.
Canelo is not elite. Floyd proved it and Lara confirmed it, stand in front of him and he shines, move and box and he's lost.

Fights should be judged twice once live and the 2nd time on tape. That is the only way to stop this *s*h*i*t judging and corruption.
Yup, and get the results one week from the event in the mail.
