Buffer.
Lampley does have a great radio voice, but everyone knows who Buffer is, by the way Lampley is a moron, he felt compelled one day to shit on MMA and showing how he obviously never seen a fight or tried to gather some information about the sport, just pissing out a bunch of lies.
What a lot of journalists who put out articles talking about boxing's demise are missing is that UFC is attracting a lot of fans who are not fans of boxing.
Boxing fans are not switching over.
Ultimate fighting is the hot fad sport right now. WCW and WWF wrestling were hot in 1996-98 and is now on the decline. A lot of disillusioned pro wrestling fans are moving to UFC. But real boxing fans are still boxing fans, whether or not they follow MMA...
Agreed, you said it all.
Gangs fighting isn't riots, real footballriots are rare nowadays. Last riot I remember was at Lazio - Roma, and that was almost two years ago.
I'm not saying europeans are angels, but americans in general seem to look down on other people from other countries, all the bullshit talk about patriotism does that.
"Patriotism is the virtue of the vicious" - Wilde
I wonder why they think this. It's not like America is the #1 superpower in the world or anything
Is americans better people than others?
Does power make one good?
Americans???...as in all Americans?
This country is run on immigrants, through ancestry, and refueling from the new...I still don't know what you are talking about because there isn't a whole lot of that going on; there is some, but it is not a high or even moderate percentage of our crime...if anything, a recent report stated that a lot of crime is actually committed by the illegal immigrants in this country.
I know that the US is run on immigrants through ancestry, but that seems to be forgotten.
And no, americans as in US citizens, i said americans because I have heard people from the US say americans when speaking about US citizens, excluding all other americans. This is very common, and you know it.
I haven't said a word about crime rates in the US, all I say is that it is a widespread apprehension that people from the US think they are better people and that they stand above others.
I remember hearing a good example of how some Europeans think of us, both in a positive way and a negative way, described as such:
America is like a child, filled with dreams, filled with motivation to make those dreams happen, though we love that about the States, it sometimes seems that child gets to ahead of himself and becomes arrogant...it is great to see how the Americans treat life as a great possiblity to achieve their dream, but they can over-step their bounds sometimes when the want it to much.
Based on how the media can sometimes treat our athletes, I think that the American idea of life to be #1 bothers the rest of the world; I don't think they understand that coming in any thing other than first is unacceptable...it is not only us though, I mentioned before, the Russians seem to have that same attitude; could this have been the reason for the Cold War ;)
What I do think the rest of the world can tend to like is the many stories they hear of how a poverty stricken person is able to reach his dream and be a success.
I think that the most beautiful thing there is has to be humbleness, and that is why I get bothered by the american mindset sometimes, because this is a rare asset amongst people from the US.
The cinderella story is always a great one, but absolutely not exclusive to the US :)
It is always like this with americans, not only in boxing, not only in sports, sometimes it seems like almost every last american think they stand above the rest of the world.
Whatever the sport, in the US everybody who is not american get booed, I don't think there is any other country worse when it comes to booing, perhaps with the exception of England. But just as an example, have you ever seen a japanese crowd boo an american fighter?
Ok, kind of agree, but not all people from the States have a Texas attitude about the rest of the world.
"Americans" as in North and South American?
If so, the citizens of the United States do tend to take that word "American" as their own and not think of it as "All Americans, both North and South"
Do most Americans tend to be cocky, maybe :D
It is a selfish, spoiled generation in today's United States; not like the "Great" Generation of my Grandfathers.
It comes and goes...if there is another big Depression, it will humble the people...but the bad thing is that we will probably have to go to war to rebound, so that might not be a good thing either.
Then we agree after all. :o
You people actually believe this happens all the time in football? Riots happens maybe every other year, sometimes once a year, but the reason is mostly the hate for the police.
Regularly really bad rioting has not happened since the 70s and 80s.
That's bullshit:
Soccer/Football, go to a game in some countries and you will hear horrible remarks about blacks; not to mention, Jews are still not really well liked.
Though, looking through history in Europe, both Blacks and Jews were never to welcome so I guess it will never really change.
How about Italy and their Neo Nazi fans?
I wont pretend that football fans in Europe always are the greatest kinds of people, football has always had problems with violent and racist fans, but I wasn't talking about football, because everybody knows about the football situation. But like this latest event in Gothenburg, the European Championships in track and field, everyone was greeted with applause and appreciation, no matter if they was from Sweden, Italy or Israel.
Italy has neo nazis and fascist, just as more or less every other country in the world, but they are a minority. I wont get into a discussion about politics and football in Italy, it is far to complex.
if they're going to fire anybody, they need to fire lennox lewis. his accent is even more annoying that his fights. his boxing knowledge is mediocre at best. and his coverage is sparse and unremarkable.
id rather listen to larry merchant slowly drone on and on and on about opinionated bullshit in a drunken haze rather than listen to that god-awful accent and primative coverage by lennox lewis.
I just loved the way Lennox got extremely excited about Maskaevs knockout win over Rock, thats a classic for me, and his accent made it even greater.
Which was worse in the fight jay nady bitching about the holding or the commentators bitching about jay's bitching.
Jay Nadys bitching was much much worse, I was really angry about it long before any of the commentators mentioned it. They would be doing an extremely bad job if they didn't say anything about it.
