I would just leave boxers or trainers in there, like George, Lennox, or Manny.
I thought Lampley/Merchant were terribly boring and missed the shifting momentum of the Maskaev-Rahman fight. They missed the entire fight with their vacuous commentaries.
simply put.most hw fights r nobodies and the commentary arnt interested. no paragraphs jus simply put.
Exactly.
Despite what some of you may think, that was not a good fight.I was laughing myself at how badly both of them gassed at the end,so I cant blame the HBO uys for filling it with "vacuous commentaries."
And as far as BIAS...so the fuck what.Look if some of the posters on here are to be believed, this was the greatest heavyweight fight in years, now THAT is bias.
Bobby Cyz was my favorite commentator along with Sean O'Grady.
During the first Holyfield/Tyson fight, Bobby was able to analyze why Tyson was not able to get out of Holyfield's clinches, though they were no Ruiz type clinches. He was right on the money as to why he was winning the rounds by utilizing such tactics. Too bad he's a drunk.
Sean O'Grady was a Tuesday Night Fight guy. Knew exactly why one fighter was losing and what he would do about it. Even interviewed the trainers during the rounds as to why their fighter was winning or losing. Sometimes he'd drop a suggestion.
Lampley is just stupid. He calls punches that don't exist or missed or were blocked.
O'Grady is garbage. I remember him interviewing either Edison Miranda or the guy he was fighting on the Tua/Salif undercard and this fighter is like jet-black and he's all "He's got a great set of teeth, he's hoping to have a great fight" and I was like "wow, O'Grady the slave trader..."
I can't believe he still does fights...

George and Lennox are way worse than Lampley and Merchant, Nauty...
if they're going to fire anybody, they need to fire lennox lewis. his accent is even more annoying that his fights. his boxing knowledge is mediocre at best. and his coverage is sparse and unremarkable.
id rather listen to larry merchant slowly drone on and on and on about opinionated bullshit in a drunken haze rather than listen to that god-awful accent and primative coverage by lennox lewis.
I just loved the way Lennox got extremely excited about Maskaevs knockout win over Rock, thats a classic for me, and his accent made it even greater.

pacquiao???
Which was worse in the fight jay nady bitching about the holding or the commentators bitching about jay's bitching.
Jay Nadys bitching was much much worse, I was really angry about it long before any of the commentators mentioned it. They would be doing an extremely bad job if they didn't say anything about it.

lamply is not too bad but merchant takes the whole broadcast to talk about the first fight of the night. manny is i think one of the better they ever had. i mean he gives you trainers view. he doesnt always say they look tight when they are back looking for a counter. he actually see's it. i mean come on he is one of the best trainers in the game right now. he could see a flaw in anyone. lennox is getting better. RJJ was great IMO. i mean he wasnt favoring the HBO fighter like they do sometimes. he would tell you how the fight is going. look at the bhop fight the first one. he was telling you what bhop was doing but than giving taylor mad credit for fighting a great fight. merchant i think didnt like roy or forman bc they would prove him wrong all the time. like when roy said hops was looking for a KO against taylor merchant jumps in and says well thats not a good idea. he is always trying to sound like the better man. the one who knows more. lamply just kinda sits there and instigates the other two commentators.

I don't mind Lampley becuase of his excitement. Merchant is the one who needs to go. He drags on with 10 minute sentences..it's painful to hear. The freakin guy must be 80 years old.
I think Lennox is actually improving. He was horrible initially, but has made steady improvement. I don't think he said "absolutely" one time yesterday.:)
i dont like foreman because he was big time bias to a few fighters
trinidad to name one and he used his ring experience as leverage he'd throw that in the other commentators faces everytime he'd be backed into a corner like some of the "boxers" do on here
The way I see it, Steward has a thing against the fighter who's tentative, backing up & looking to counter, he thinks they look tight & not relaxed. Merchant still makes some good remarks they just come long after they should, Harold gives the fight the agreesor regardless of he's being effective or not, & they all seem to alway be looking at one fighter instead of the fight in general. Foreman was one of my favorites as well as RJJ & Lennox seems to be getting better but still not very good in my opinion, but to be honest the new generation of commentators they've got are even more boring then the veterans IMO.
