It does feel weird when you are watching a fight and the HBO crew isnt commentation. I say Buffer but why are you comparing two people that dont have the same job.
I think my main reason in choosing Lampley exists in the fact that Lampley is known mostly by people who watch the sport. Anybody could tell you who Buffer is because his voice and catchphrase as so popculture. Lampley is not as recognized and therefore gets my vote.
Because to know who Jim Lampley is, is to be a true fan of the sport. I've been listening to Lampley commentate since I was 15, he's a true staple of the sport. As is Buffer but I just don't see Buffer in the same light. Lampley knows more about the sport than Buffer does. He's called the fights for years, Buffer just does the intros and outros.
Buffer.
But my personal favourite is Jimmy Lennon Jr.
Agree great minds think alike. I prefer Lennon Jr. If anyone has ever seen Carbajal-Gonzalez I , Carbajal had Buffer announce his name and Gonzalez had Lennon Jr. do his. That is the only time I have ever seen that happen.
Watching a fight IMO isn't the same if you don't have Lampley comentating & Buffer getting the crowd pumped up just before the fight with "Lets get ready to rumble".
I take both of them...lol
Buffer.
Lampley does have a great radio voice, but everyone knows who Buffer is, by the way Lampley is a moron, he felt compelled one day to shit on MMA and showing how he obviously never seen a fight or tried to gather some information about the sport, just pissing out a bunch of lies.
Buffer is the more recognized personality, but if Lampley wasn't there I wouldn't even check HBO. Manny and Mr Senile are horrible analyst and color commentators.
