Orlandito is willing to do what many other arent, work hard and learn. I like his attitude. He is a humble kid. He calls Darchinyan his daddy and joke about it without problem. Many other fighters dont like to accept that others were better than them, and he being so young already accepted that fact. I hope he learns a lot from the best, Mr Berinstain. Totally opposite from me, everyone that asks me about fights never mentioned anything. This was the first time in a long time that there was no fight party at my crib. Only one of my friends texted me about the outcome. No FB chatting with by the minute updates like usual on my feed. Nobody cared. The only messages I get lately is whether I believe Cotto has one last great performance in him to fight Canelo and win. People are also anticipating Swift vs winner of Lucas and Matthyse. Already planning a Barclay's trip for that one

I just read this but its floyd so who cares let the hate run free. Why do you people care? I care because I subscribe to Showtime only for boxing, and if they're losing money because they've committed so much to Floyd, then I/we lose out if their boxing budget has to take a hit. Can you imagine not being able to watch Swift vs Lucas/Peterson because no more $ at the end of the year, or Canelo vs Cotto because not enough to guarantee two stars Ripple effects, I pay good money to subscribe to both premium channels so I expect the best fights to be put on, can't get that if they're losing alot of money.

underrated: Bradley. He always finds a way to win but the vulnerability he shows is often what is focused on instead of how he overcomes his short comings. He is just a flat out winner who finds a way to get the job done with a deep and complete yet underrated skill set. He lacks pop but it doesn't hinder him at the elite level with his heart and chin. He has unbelievable athleticism, ring IQ, and has good timing. Bradley fought Provodnikov's fight and still beat him! If he fights him again in a rematch he will utilize his boxing and win in easier fashion as opposed to trying to make a statement. overrated: Danny Garcia. He is viewed as the man at 140 but he really hasn't earned it just yet. The Khan victory and a tough Judah fight are good starts but he has to cement it with a win over Matthysse victory to be rated where he currently is right now. Does he beat Lucas? Not in my opinion so he is overrated in my eyes. So does Matthysse losing to Judah and Alexander make him in your eyes deserve to be rated above Garcia? This sentence makes no sense to me. Does Peterson deserve to be #1? For what winning over Holt? Garcia beat him back when he was still decent, and Peterson got a suspect win over Kahn because of two hometown point deductions in his favor and getting busted for PEDs Garcia deserves his spot until he loses it in the ring

when all is said and done Floyd will be top 25 ATG. he beat Shane after he KO'd Margarita so it wasn't like he took that fight when Shane was looking like nothing. after that fight is when Shane starting looking his age. Shane was inactive for 14 months and went through two prior training camps, and he was like 37. Shane was done, over, finito. 25 is hard when he has a handful of great fighters on his resume, mostly all past prime and nearly washed up. He has castillo and chico, but those two don't make someone atg. If only his Ww career didn't b bring down the rest of his career...imo

Omar Figueroa and Felix Verdejo will be future P4P elites...I still think Thomas Dulorme has a bright future. I'm high on Santa Cruz, although he's farther along than the prior three. Gary Russell Jr is still on his 15th fight w/ TBA to be taken seriously anymore

When Martinez put the Punisher to sleep, I was wondering if I was having a bad dream. It was that screaming silence going through my head. You was always riding with Punisher, I bet that was a sh.itty feeling. On the flip side to that, I was so happy for Sexy. It was as if justice had been done for the first fight that I thought he deserved. But I did feel for Punisher, he always came to fight, no matter what.

Overrated: Matthyse - The guy is a quality fighter, no doubt; but damn he lost to Judah and Alexander. Don't care if they were robberies/too close/gifts or whatever, a guy who is a class above comes out and gets the W. At the moment he's just a guy who beat Dallas Jr., but I will give credit for the Ajose fight. This opinion is subject to change on the 19th. Broner - A good young fighter, but he's only had one step up fight against DeMarco which he won, and now Ring TV has him as #6 p4p? If that isn't overrated, then I don't know what is. The ranking has a disgusting smell of Oscar using his influence on those rankings. And most egregious is that he's jumping past the best division in boxing to get a weak paper title against the weakest champ there, while waiting for the guys at 140 to take each other out. So he'll go back to 140 when they're done killing eachother and beat a guy who's probably a bit shopworn from the back-2-back battles and claim a hollow victory. Chad Dawson - He hasn't gotten much press lately, but he's getting a pass from the Ward beatdown because he was drained. I think he's a good fighter, decent skills, but he just doesn't have no killer instinct, no dog in him. I can't really see him ever being more than just an average guy in the ring. Underrated - Mares - What can I say about this guy. He can box, he can fight, he can get dirty, and I may get some hate for saying this, but he just might be the one of, if not the best all around fighters right now in the game. Maybe going out on a limb, but I just don't see anyone beating him right now. Rocky Martinez - This guy gets no love, but Arum keeps putting him through the ringer, desperately trying to crown someone a bit cuter and more marketable to make him some money, and Rocky keeps putting them away. I mean, think of his last three comp for a minute, he went up against Miguel Beltran Jr and went to war, everyone expected Miguel to win, and Rocky came up; then he went up against Burgos and went to war. Yes there was a draw and its acknowledged. Then he went up against Magdaleno, another boxer who everyone said would be too fast, too strong and too good, and Rocky keeps winning. He just keeps winning and at the end of the day, that's all that matters. He's tough and keeps bringing it. Hopkins - Yes, this a dubious pick, but damn, how many times is my man going to be called a loser, only to come out and beat these dudes up. I say he's underrated because while writers and fans are saying Mayweather is painting masterpieces against dudes who should share the ring with him, Hopkins is still doing it against younger, stronger and prime guys. This selection has more to do with history, I don't know about you all, but when I'm old as fu.ck and talking boxing to the new heads, I'm not talking about Manny Pacquiao or Floyd Mayweather as the best boxer I ever saw, I'm talking about The Executioner, he keeps killing 'em.

how could you if cotto and pac refused the fight. Cotto ducking Mayweather? We can pull back the tape of "He lives to far" from the Mayweather archives. Or what about when asked by Larry Merchant live on TV about facing Cotto and Mayweather famously said "I'm not going to let boxing retire me, I will retire from boxing" Arum did say he wanted to let the fight marinate some more back when they were in 140, but Cotto ducking Mayweather, bollocks :boxing:

Worst feeling -- Cotto/Pacquiao; we had a massive fight party at my crib, maybe 40 people deep. Couldn't even sit. BBQ was tight, mad heads drunk as sh.it. Great time. Then the fight started, and man those first three rounds. Adrenaline was crazy. Those were an amazing first three rounds, then the fourth. The counter left. The entire fight shifted. You could tell the first knock down was more of a slip/flash, but that second fu.cked his world up. The entire room went silent, like we was in a funeral. Even Pac fans were just quiet, in a sad, depressed way. We all are fans of both fighters. Cotto had a moment or two after the fourth while boxing, but you could tell the snap was out of his punches. Best Moment -- Cotto/Margarito II; all I read and heard from everyone, in person or online was how Margarito was going to make Cotto take a knee, or KO him earlier. You here something enough times you start to believe that sh.it yourself. The leadup to the fight was nothing but confidence being shattered after the first fight, and so forth. Then my wife bought me tickets to the fight; and four other of our friends tagged along. I honestly didn't want to go for fear of Cotto losing. I didn't mind losing to Mayweather, cause Cotto was already past prime, and neither to Trout because while Active Duty, I was stationed in New Mexico and lived there for 7 years, so he is kinda like a extended hometown guy, but not Margarito. Then the arena...wow, in all the sporting events I've ever attended in my life, nothing was like the atmosphere that night at MSG. Then Cotto put on a clinic and pitched a shut-out, arena was fire. Never forget it

Shouldn't the phrase "masterful performance" be reserved when the opponent is of equal or greater standing. When your fighting someone who is a 8-1 underdog, its not really a masterful performance. Its just par for the course. No doubt it was a good showcase fight to show that he does have his legs still, but masterful. I was hoping to see a masterful performance back in 07-08 against Cotto and Margarito, in 09-10 against Pacquiao and in '13 against Canelo

I'm riding with Malignaggi He's just a tougher guy, mentally and would be able to deal with Zab's worst. Just looking at their common opponents, he fought Cotto for 10 rounds with a broken jaw, Zab took a nut shot and cried like a hoe. I will say that Zab impressed me greatly with his performance against Swifty though

Sorry, maybe you need to re-watch the Cotto and Pacquiao interviews when both were asked on numerous occasions about fighting Floyd. Their patent answers were very much alike: "We'll have to see what my promoter says." And those were their answers before and after their fights. If he beats Canelo, it'll be his best win since Hatton. Based on what's out there as far as future matches, nothing really stands out and look competitive. Might as well go out with the best win. And dare I say, just retire and maybe come back in a year or two if someone rises up. Everyone said he'd duck Canelo, that he wouldn't take the risk. He proved "us" naysayers wrong, myself included and getting that win against a prime, undefeated fighter who holds several advantages, well that should shut up everyone's beef. We can still b!tch about him ducking prime Cotto, prime Margarito and prime Pacquiao, but its 2013 and he's fighting the guy everyone said he'd duck.

Top Five: Carl Froch - I just enjoy him. He's awkward in the ring, but has good ring IQ. He comes to fight every night. I'm going to miss the Cobra Miguel Cotto - Past it, but still testing himself and still giving good shows. The matchups available would all be bangers Marcos Maidana - Is a slugger with his trainer adding a little bit of skill. In the end, when the going gets rough, my boy resorts to what he knows best, warring. Miguel Cotto vs Maidana is my dream fight for 2013. Abner Mares - Reminds me a bit of Cotto and Robert trained version of Maidana. Boxer/Brawler style. What I love about Mares is that he'll do whatever it takes to win a fight. If he has to tap a few nuts, throw some elbows, he'll get the W. Sergio Martinez - Has a dumb style that puts him in precarious situations. In the end, does what he has to, to get a W. Has that championship rounds gusto that I dig.

Catchweight? :rofl: Maidana was 165 lbs this past Saturday. Making 154 lbs will be easier for him than making 147 lbs. Would be a good fight. I'd side with Cotto for the win. Well I made this thread last year when he was still growing into the WW division - I think the date of the post is apparent enough. And if you read the bump post, well you know, I bumped this in light of his fight night weight. This contest can easily be at 154. I think is be a Savage 8 round war, with Cotto's championship rounds experience getting him through the last 4 frames for a MD/SD. Or either one of them could get ktfo.

I say Peterson please not OTHER BUM!!!! Peterson just got his world wrecked, that guy need not worry about a big puncher in his next fight. If Maidana/Matthyse happens next, which would suck, I'd like to see Garcia/Provodnikov. Provo isn't worth much to Arum in the grand scheme of things, so I think he'd be willing to let Provo fight, especially a young upcoming star like Garcia

i think win or lose cotto is retiring after martinez.
