Who are your selections for most overrated and underrated fighters. Doesn't matter if it's current or from the past.
Overrated: Adrian Broner- I like him offensively but he just seems like he is tailored for a good power puncher based on sacrificing defense for offense
Underrated: Bradley- what he lacks in size he makes up with in heart as well as having an underrated boxing IQ and stamina
underrated: Bradley. He always finds a way to win but the vulnerability he shows is often what is focused on instead of how he overcomes his short comings. He is just a flat out winner who finds a way to get the job done with a deep and complete yet underrated skill set. He lacks pop but it doesn't hinder him at the elite level with his heart and chin. He has unbelievable athleticism, ring IQ, and has good timing. Bradley fought Provodnikov's fight and still beat him! If he fights him again in a rematch he will utilize his boxing and win in easier fashion as opposed to trying to make a statement.
overrated: Danny Garcia. He is viewed as the man at 140 but he really hasn't earned it just yet. The Khan victory and a tough Judah fight are good starts but he has to cement it with a win over Matthysse victory to be rated where he currently is right now. Does he beat Lucas? Not in my opinion so he is overrated in my eyes.
So does Matthysse losing to Judah and Alexander make him in your eyes deserve to be rated above Garcia?
This sentence makes no sense to me.
Does Peterson deserve to be #1? For what winning over Holt? Garcia beat him back when he was still decent, and Peterson got a suspect win over Kahn because of two hometown point deductions in his favor and getting busted for PEDs
Garcia deserves his spot until he loses it in the ring
Overrated: Matthyse - The guy is a quality fighter, no doubt; but damn he lost to Judah and Alexander. Don't care if they were robberies/too close/gifts or whatever, a guy who is a class above comes out and gets the W. At the moment he's just a guy who beat Dallas Jr., but I will give credit for the Ajose fight. This opinion is subject to change on the 19th.
Broner - A good young fighter, but he's only had one step up fight against DeMarco which he won, and now Ring TV has him as #6 p4p? If that isn't overrated, then I don't know what is. The ranking has a disgusting smell of Oscar using his influence on those rankings. And most egregious is that he's jumping past the best division in boxing to get a weak paper title against the weakest champ there, while waiting for the guys at 140 to take each other out. So he'll go back to 140 when they're done killing eachother and beat a guy who's probably a bit shopworn from the back-2-back battles and claim a hollow victory.
Chad Dawson - He hasn't gotten much press lately, but he's getting a pass from the Ward beatdown because he was drained. I think he's a good fighter, decent skills, but he just doesn't have no killer instinct, no dog in him. I can't really see him ever being more than just an average guy in the ring.
Underrated - Mares - What can I say about this guy. He can box, he can fight, he can get dirty, and I may get some hate for saying this, but he just might be the one of, if not the best all around fighters right now in the game. Maybe going out on a limb, but I just don't see anyone beating him right now.
Rocky Martinez - This guy gets no love, but Arum keeps putting him through the ringer, desperately trying to crown someone a bit cuter and more marketable to make him some money, and Rocky keeps putting them away. I mean, think of his last three comp for a minute, he went up against Miguel Beltran Jr and went to war, everyone expected Miguel to win, and Rocky came up; then he went up against Burgos and went to war. Yes there was a draw and its acknowledged. Then he went up against Magdaleno, another boxer who everyone said would be too fast, too strong and too good, and Rocky keeps winning. He just keeps winning and at the end of the day, that's all that matters. He's tough and keeps bringing it.
Hopkins - Yes, this a dubious pick, but damn, how many times is my man going to be called a loser, only to come out and beat these dudes up. I say he's underrated because while writers and fans are saying Mayweather is painting masterpieces against dudes who should share the ring with him, Hopkins is still doing it against younger, stronger and prime guys. This selection has more to do with history, I don't know about you all, but when I'm old as fu.ck and talking boxing to the new heads, I'm not talking about Manny Pacquiao or Floyd Mayweather as the best boxer I ever saw, I'm talking about The Executioner, he keeps killing 'em.
You're kidding me?
He's probably #1 P4P fantasy fighter. When his ability to throw lots of punches doesn't make up for his flaws.
People still think Leonard and Hearns ducked him. I think Aaron Pryor beats all of them.He beat hearns in amateurs. In an all time P4P list I would have Pryor in front of Hearns, Hagler, Leonard. But I would not have him in front of Roberto Duran. In my opinion the greatest fight of all time was Aaron Pryor vs Alexis Arguello. I feel he is underrated and unappreciated by the people who don't know jack squat about boxing. He deserved more respect then Leonard who by the way ducked Pryor.
I could also make a case for peterson being overrated. Here's a guy who was hurt by tim bradley and would have lost in his hometown against khan had it not been for 2 point deductions. he never had khan hurt like career LW diaz did either. he also looked rustier against holt even though both men were coming off layoffs. he can legitimize his status with a win against Matthysse but I think he is about to get a reality check saturday.

Underrated - Ricky Burns. A 2-weight world champion, just like Broner, yet he continually gets written off before his fights. In the recent past he was 'going to lose' to Martinez, Katsidis, and Mitchell but he gave them all a hiding. He has one of the best defences in the sport at the moment.
I would be here all day with overrated fighters.
Nah man....give up the overrated. Lol. Least your top pick

Overrated I would have to go with Lara his fight with Vanes was awful. His performance in that fight was boring. I had to change the channel and watch the Showtime card instead.
Underrated I would have to go with Mikey Garcia. I think he has all the tools he just needs to get the big fights now. I Also think Peter Quillin is underrated.
Underrated and Underappreciated: Aaron The Hawk Pryor

Canelo is overrated just because his hair is red and he'd get picked apart by Floyd. Trout basically sent him to school but the judges robbed him. There's no way Floyd would agree to fight in corrupt Texas, so Canelo couldn't rob Floyd.
The people who think Rigondeaux is just as good a boxer as Floyd Mayweather are overrating Rigo. The boy has good speed and counter punching, but he can't fight without getting dropped. Not only that, but he admitted he's scared of moving up just 4 lbs! Floyd travelled up 26 lbs and mopped the floor with all the big names. Floyd beats Rigo to a pulp at any weight. Period.
Sergio Martinez hasn't done sh*t except landing a lucky shot on Paul Williams. He beats a mentally unstable Pavlik, gets dropped by a lazy pothead and then robs Murray. How people actually think this chump has a chance against Floyd is beyond me...
Overrated: Don't really think of fighters in this way but if pushed I'd say Broner.
Underrated: Roman Gonzalez. This dude is the man and he gets no attention at all.
