Like I've said countless times before, Roman has the skill set, sadly his opposition has been very questionable as of late. Although it's good news for the lower weights that HBO is showing interest in their divisions, sadly most of the audience is uninformed regarding the caliber of opposition he is actually facing.
Truth be told the lower weights are actually riddled with great competitors, it's a shame Roman fought the likes of Valentin in his previous scrap. I really hope he has an actual formidable opponent on his radar for the near future, he needs to face someone with a pulse soon.
I too wish his competition would be better but I understand HBO. They know many people don't know about the lower divisions so they want to build up Gonxalez before putting him in tougher fights. He'll breeze through Segura, then I could see them matching him with Vilora a good but beatable opponent. Then I could see them going the Estrada rematch route or moving him to 115 where he has Inoue or Cuadras. They could probably ease him into 115 with a narvaez fight too.
I see this being the HBO plan to build him up.
I guess Oscar doesn't like being reminded of those two ass whoopings.
Ass whooping? The first fight was a close fight where shame rightfully won. But no ass whooping. The second fight was a straight up robbery. There was an investigation after that fight.
No thanks.
I have no desire to ever watch Lara on HBO or Showtime ever again.
He can fight the Delvin Rodriguez and Ishe Smith of the worlds on free TV. Not paid TV.
i have a feeling Al Haymon is going to fade into obscurity eventually. HBO is doing a great job.
This may very well be. But in going to support anyone who at the very least makes an attempt to bring boxing back to national TV.
Can't say what Haymon has done has been perfect. But fvck it at least he's trying. For years and I mean years Arum would tease us about putting of this show and that show and all we got were crappy Latin fury and Pinoy power ppvs. He never made an attempt to bring us more free boxing.
Haymon is at least trying. WE SHOUKD ALL ENJOY IT while it last.
Bs fight but I see why HBO is wanting it.
They're investing in Gonzalez and don't want to send him into a fight he could possibly lose on his 2nd HBO fight.
They're going to build this and they'll continue to feed him known but past their prime Mexicans. After he dispatches Segura I'm sure they'll get another corpse. Wonder if Cazares is till fighting?
I don't recall GGG calling out Mayweather. He called out Cotto and Canelo. But even if he called out Mayweather what is wrong with it? He's the best fighter in the world the biggest draw and his best chance to get paid. It would be dumb not to try calling him out.
He'll let's not forget Andre Ward called out Chavez for the same rea$on. Only to turn around and trash Chavez as an opponent when Froch wanted to fight him.
When it's set and done the fight will be done in Vegas. It's a huge fight one of the biggest that can be made.
These fights always end up in Vegas. Everything else from Cotto wanting it in NyC to Canelo wanting it in Texas is BS.
HBO will put its foot down.
Since May 2nd i have seen posters who lived and died by compubox now discredit it..They used it to say Floyd lost to Castillo, used it to say Manny beat Jmm in the 2nd and 3rd fight..but now all the sudden it does not apply? So is it valid or not valid?
Larry you know better.
It's NSB, where rules apply to everyone except your favorite fighter.
Remember how Mayweather fans talked crap about Pacquiao asking for catchweights? Funny how they were quiet when Mayweather asked Canelo for a catchweight.
Cotto fans complained about Pacquiao draining him only to defend him when he does it to other fighters now.
Everyone talked about how unfair it was for Chavez Jr. to put on 20 lbs on fight night, but say nothing when other fighters do the same.
And my favorite. All Pacquiao fans saying that the commission needed to do it's job that extra drug testing wasn't necessary, suddenly change their mind about it when Pacquiao gets KO'd by Marquez. Suddenly it's drug testing is necessary.
Why?
It wasn't like the first fight was close. Porter dominated most of the fight. The 12th he got careless and got caught with a punch. He was fine 20 seconds later.
Paulie has always been a ***** talker. Its what made him interesting.
The only reason people notice now, is because he talked badly about Pacquiao. A big no no here in NSB.
Had he talked about Floyd he'd be praised.
It's not his promoting skills it's the fact he get in fighters faces as if he was a fighter that annoys me. The rosado/JLove fight was an embarrassment.
This is all BS.
If he was injured 2 weeks before the fight he would have told the NSAC. He would have notified them with plenty of time (2 weeks) and would have gotten the shot approved. You don't go into the biggest fight of your career questionable.
What happened here is they needed an excuse and they found one in an old injury that never needed surgery before but suddenly after being humiliated in the ring it needs immediate attention.
And isn't it funny how this went from and injury two weeks out and aggravated in the 4th round to suddenly Arum coming out saying its a 6 year injury! Something tells me they're trying to save face so that NSAC doesn't come down hard on them for not disclosing the injury. Everybody pay attention how Arum, Top Rank and Manny's team spin this story. It's going to be very similar to the spin job they managed to do on the blood testing 6 years ago.
First only 3 blood test. One before the press tour, one 30 days out and one after.
Then it became "random" with a 30 day cut off
Then 24 day cut off.
The 14 days.
Then it became pac never rejected blood test he just didn't want it on fight night.
don't let there pacf@gs get away with this lame a$$ excuse......#48 lost and he got his a$$ whooped.
The excuse was BS from the start. This is Bob doing damage control saying it was an old injury so they won't get penalized by the NSAC.
He'll say it was an old injury which is why they didn't notify them on paper and he aggravated more in the 4th round or something along those lines. Just watch!
Get your popcorn ready you're about to watch Arum and Top Rank spin the hell out of this in the upcoming days.
NSAC has obviously been on Floyds side, and the found some BS technicality to stop Pac from getting shots.
I seriously doubt, Floyd checked injured everytime he gets a shot in his fist, which is before every fight.
This is interesting, but NSAC won't release those Floyd questionaires.
Pac should not have fought without getting an injection. He had leverage. Just say, I need that, or we delay the fight. This is a tainted victory. Floyd waited all those years, to fight a injured Pac. Thats all people will remember.
Pac lost. Get over it.
The "injury" was from 6 years ago
Does Floyd always check the YES box in all of his fights NSAC medical questionaire?
It was known and documented that Floyd inject xylocaine on his hands before every fight and NSAC allows him to do that.
When did he start ticking that YES box and from then on does he always tick it when he fights?
Can anyone provide Floyd's NSAC medical questionaire so we could see if he really does ticked those YES boxes
This guy.
Can't let it go.
Pac lost buddy. Get over it.
it was only the pacquiao haters that were saying algieri could upset pacquiao, make it a close fight, make him look bad etc
everyone else said algieri doesn't belong there
why lie?
Complete BS. Mayweather fans were saying the fight was a total mismatch and Pac fans were defending it saying Algeri would box and make things interesting for Pac.
Funny how you switch the tables after the fact though. Kind of how pac fans flip flop on drug testing in boxing.
Pacquiao's injury is from after the De la Hoya fight. He's fought Hatton, Cotto, Margarito, Bradley, JMM etc with it.
Arum said as much.
It was probably a small injury that never really bothered him but because he was humiliated by Floyd it gets brought up as the excuse.
Suddenly he has have immediate surgery and he was fighting at 30% etc
