People saying that the first fight was too much of a white wash to make the second fight interesting need their heads checked...Froch ended very well ... look at last nights fight and compare it to the first one then look at the Kessler fight and compare it to the first one.. Froch has a very good chance of beating Ward...Froch never looked right in the fight with Ward
Froch stated in the post fight (Ward) interview that in order to beat Ward he would need to work on the technical aspects of boxing. Since that fight, IMO Froch has shown no changes or improvements in the technical aspects of his fight game. I see the same Froch making the same mistakes, i.e. like leaving his left hand in his pants pocket. Granted it was a little higher last night against Groves but there were plenty of times where it was not and George landed the right.
I think Froch would be better off fighting JCC Jr and GGG before considering fighting Ward. Save Ward for his last fight because fighting him now will just kill his momentum.
He clearly lost the first fight but I think he's done enough to get a rematch. It has to be England though. If not, **** Ward! He made a mockery of the super six after his bs win over Kessler as far as not wanting to travel outside of California. Idc if he fought the finale in AC. It's like Froch fighting in London and being from Nottingham. It's still in England. Every American fought over seas once but him. If he wants it again, which I'm sure he does, he better go.
I don't think Floyd has crossed the pond. Of the Americans in the Super Six, yes, Ward is the only one to remain on US soil (and JT but he only had one fight).
The only big names Ward has beat are Froch & Kessler (Kessler was slowly declining & exiting his prime).
Abraham & Bika are tough fighters - but not elite.
I'll give him credit for beating Dawson but that's about it. He has been very inactive for the past couple of years & hasn't really done that much.
Apart from the inactivity, it takes more than a few good fights to warrant a position as No.2 PFP in the world.
The guy is a joke. Kovalev & Golovkin would expose him.
I have to strongly disagree. Hopefully we will get to see these fights take place someday. my money would be on ward. ward is like the second coming of Hopkins when it comes to taking his opponents best weapon away. he's too much of a bull for ggg and his ring Iq is too high for kovalev.
i hope maidana gerald mcclellan's floyd tonight.
that would be righteous justice served.
are you meaning GM's punching power or the results if the BS headbutt from Niegel Benn?
the KO's plus the persona puts butts in the seats. to me he's just selling his self. if folks feel salty about what he says or how he comes off during interviews, then great. Why? because those that don't like him will continue to talk about him and pay to see him lose, just like they do with Floyd and, AB. As long as KT continues to win and talk trash, he'll make a killing financially and substantially more than Porter.
right now GBP is not going to match KT against anyone that he might not be able to KO because it's that KO reputation that will attract viewers.
More power to KT and Porter. I'll watch the fight regardless of who they are fighting.
Uhhhh, that's what I'm saying. People are using whatever they can to discredit the numbers, make Floyd look bad, make Showtime look bad..
I'm just stating this, cause I don't get what drives people to do that.
Hatred and envy.
This is hilarious. Let's see if the WBO cares or not... I hope they can make enough noise so we can see how the WBO responds.
If anything, They'll set up a final eliminator with somebody who'll beat him... wouldn't be surprised if they put Bradley in there with him
http://www.asianboxing.info/asian-news/previous/2
I can't see the WBO forcing this fight regardless of what their rules state. Bob seems to own the WBO. They will do what he says.
if chino applies the same pressure to one time as he did Floyd I think he can get the win. one thing for sure, this fight will let the world to see what one time is made of.
I don't like to say any fighter is ducking another fighter. I just don't bye that. I understand boxing is a business and certain fights get pushed back until the excitement/ hype is at its peak. With saying that, I think GGG's camp put their foot in their mouths when the made the statement about fighting anyone from 154 to 175. They should have clarified the statement when it was made , that it would only be for big money fights. By them not doing so, it makes it look as if they are trying to avoid Ward.
I do believe HBO does not want this fight because of their investment in GGG. If Ward does him like he did Dawson, that's a lot of money down the drain. It's not like Floyd / Canelo because Canelo has a huge fan base and can take a loss and still be viable and bankable, financially.
We're waiting for an answer to this question but it's not impossible that some new promotional entity could be created with the finance to bankroll a Mayweather fight.

It's my understanding that Floyds 32 mil per fight guarantee comes from Sho/CBS. Floyd hires GBP to conduct the tasks a Promoter would, i.e. obtaining sponsors, conducting/completing administrative tasks/duties, handling the financials, etc... for his fights. In a sense he's paying GBP to use their license and staff. GBP is not putting up a dime to pay Floyd.
LOL.
If Oscar "dumps" Schaefer - which he won't - GBP will be in NO position to compete with TR. None. Expect GBP to get the ass end of the stick in any potential
these are my feelings exactly. Arum has an issue with Shaffer because Arum can't walk over him in negotiations. If anyone is paying attention, all bouts where Arum is working with another promotional outfit, Arum/ Top Rank is clearly the one in charge. Shaffer won't bow or cower down to Arum and that's been the issue all along. If Arum can manipulate the situation to ensure there is a rift between Shaffer and ODLH, he will because he knows how to impose his will on ODLH to get things to go his way
Doesnt there have to be a 6th fight then?
there should not be a fifth fight. the question is will folks call for a sixth fight if Marquez ko's Manny again?
I hope he does not sign the extension and goes the cotto route. even if he does not land the Floyd - which I think he will if he does not re-sign - he could make bigger fights outside of TRs current stable. he has a big enough fan base to stand on his own and really does not need a promoter to do anything different than what cotto or Floyd have promoters do for them on an event to event basis.
Let's be real, who would not want to see Pac fight any of the following:
porter
Thurman
danny Garcia
adrien broner
marcos maidana
lucas mattysee (I know I spelled it wrong)
canelo alvarez
If he plans on having 5 fights before he retires, there is no way you could argue that he would not make more money fighting 5 of the above 8 fighters than he would fighting any 5 fighters TR has.
you all are forgetting about al haymon. so you combine floyds money with al's money and al's business acumen and there you have it. I'm sure it's not an outright buy by these 2 but more of an investment group purchase. more power to them if they can do it. for the haters - most folks that own a team never deal in the day to day operations of the team. they pay folks to do the work. so its the old saying - let your money work for you.
I'm nothing close to a lawyer nor do I claim to know a lot about laws, but I would think al haymon being a lawyer is smart enough not to get caught up in a situation that could get him sued and end up on the losing end. Kathy may have filed but that does not mean she has a valid case. if Shaffer and haymon did something legally shady, I would think they are smart enough to cover their tracks. whether or not what they did is morally shady is a whole other issue. its up to you to decide if you agree or disagree with them. I am interested in how this plays out.
I gave maidana 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, 12. rounds 9 - 10 are toss-up rounds and i gave it to fraud.
my score 8 - 4 maidana or 10 - 2 if i gave the other two rds to him but what the heck i gave it to fraud instead.
lol - too bad ariza does not agree with your score card and he's in chino's corner. you're just too funny with the scoring. if chino's corner can concede the lost, why is it so hard for you to do the same?
I felt it was a close fight 115-113 Floyd. no matter how you want to look at it chino lost and admits defeat. I may be in the minority but I believe they'll do it again in sept. if they do, the fight won't be close and chino will lose again
Lol he can't even handle a 12/1 underdog in the likes of Maidana and you talk as if he can put the breaks on SRL.
Hilarious hahahaha!
so would you say Tyson would lose to jimmy ellis because he lost to a 19 to 1 underdog in buster Douglas?
how one fighter matches up against another will always be different depending on styles. a fight between srl and fm jr is a fantasy match up because to 2 will never face each other because of the different era's. for someone to feel srl beats the breaks of of fm jr because he beat fm sr is a leap and a big leap at that because fm jr is a much better fghter than sr.
whether or not you feel fm jr could not handle a 12 to 1 underdog, the bottom line is he won.

Shoulder roll defense only works against guys who throw one punch at a time, not speed fighters who string together combos like Leonard/Pacquiao/Jones.
Ray murders Jr. just like he murdered Sr.
Props to poppa Floyd for getting in the ring with him though. Like he said, in his 17th fight he was in there with Sugar Ray Leonard while in his 42nd, Jr was gearing up to sucker punch Victor Ortiz.
sr and jr are 2 totally different fighters in terms of general movement, defense and punch accuracy. I think jr beats srl but it's just an opinion because we will never find out because that's a fight that can't possible happen. believe what you want but please don't try to pass off your opinion as if it's a fact
for those that don't like Floyd and feel chino beat him and the gloves were the reason chino lost, I'm sorry to tell you that Ariza does not agree with you.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CAxKZn2hj1U&feature=player_embedded
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tvVNJxACkcQ&feature=player_embedded
so please stop with the chino beat Floyd and the if chino would have had on the MX gloves he would have beat Floyd.
if chino's camp can concede they lost, why can't you?
I can believe the moon of made of cheese, but that doesn't make the moon be made cheese. It makes me an idiot. By your logic if Pac thought the moon was made of cheese, science textbooks around the world should be changing their chapters on moons.
It's a fact losing blood makes you weaker. It's also a fact many people don't like needles.
Is it hard to believe that PAC thinks losing blood would make him weaker? No, it's based on truth, ...losing blood makes you weaker. Just like in all war/action movies. Loss of blood usually correlates to loss of strength. It's just like how Marquez use to think drinking his piss would make him better, and give him pure vitamins.
As much as boxing is a physical sport, it's a mental one as well both in and out of the ring.
Hey I'm not really trying to get in the middle of ya'lls debate but I have to ask; If having blood drawn before the fight makes Manny weak, why did he agree to VADA testing against Rios? Is VADA testing not random without any cutoff date prior to the fight?
IMO if you know when you're going to be tested it defeats the purpose of taking the test, because if you are dirty you can take measures to cover you backside.
Floyd / Cotto II would be no different than Floyd / Cotto I. Officially Cotto weighed 155 for the Martinez fight and 154 for the Floyd fight. What can Cotto do a second time around that he could not do the first time? Absolutely nothing. I think Cotto should chase the money fights he has a great chance of wining. Floyd is not one of them.
I congratulate him on his win last night as he showed great skills in taking advantage of Martinez's biggest flaw - dropping his right hand to his waist after throwing his jab.
Martinez lost the fight because he was wide open for a Left hook, just like Paul Williams. How ironic.
if these fights remain as scheduled, Floyd will have to put on a ridiculous card from top to bottom to compete. The cream of the crop Haymon fighters will have to go head to head.
Don't be surprised if it happens.
It's funny how the so-called fight fans hate Haymon, but the fighters don't. You have yet to hear of one fighter complaining about him. Even when the fighter only gets one or two bouts a year, they're still not complaining.
with all of the other advisor/managers in the world, not one fighter has said a negative thing about his services. But every time you turn around it's always a fighter that's not with him that's complaining or suing his advisor/management. Like him or not, he seems to be doing his job and doing it well.
Anthony Joshua would be an interesting case, seeing as Ken Hershman was just talking about him in a recent interview.
Exactly. I think Anthony Joshua has Super-Star written all over him with the proper guidance and management. I think he's going to be the biggest HW we've seen since Ali.
at the end of the day, athletes shouldnt dictate what tests his opponents should take. let the governing bodies do their job and athletes do theirs.
who else does sh*t like that?
can you imagine any other athlete in any sport doing something like that?
its quite pathetic.
I said to myself that I would just read the comments and not comment but .... Floyd is not he first boxer to request his opponent take a additional test or tests other than the commissions'. Tyson/ Tyson's camp requested Holyfield take a blood test to prove he was not on roids leading when they were negotiating prior to Tyson going to jail. Numerous other fighters have done this as well it just was not as publicized as OST demands f the Floyd /Pac negotiations.
Just wanted to throw my 2 cents in. I will not respond to replies as I have no time for a senseless debate.
Amir Khan, I think he is the most hated right now. Anything about Khan comes up and posters are all over him hating.
Yeah Khan gets his fair share of hate.
What about Andre Ward?
