One of the best match ups for GGG besides Martinez... is it just a matter of this fight being his potentially biggest fight, so it's being held off for as long as possible, or is there some ducking going on?
I don't like to say any fighter is ducking another fighter. I just don't bye that. I understand boxing is a business and certain fights get pushed back until the excitement/ hype is at its peak. With saying that, I think GGG's camp put their foot in their mouths when the made the statement about fighting anyone from 154 to 175. They should have clarified the statement when it was made , that it would only be for big money fights. By them not doing so, it makes it look as if they are trying to avoid Ward.
I do believe HBO does not want this fight because of their investment in GGG. If Ward does him like he did Dawson, that's a lot of money down the drain. It's not like Floyd / Canelo because Canelo has a huge fan base and can take a loss and still be viable and bankable, financially.
Well if Ward fights, Goosen makes money just as Ward does. If Ward does not fight, neither gets paid.
What we know is that Goosen asked Sauerland for an offer for a Kessler fight. They got it and turned it down saying they'd try to make an offer for the fight to take place in the US. They never did and that's where it stands.
Its difficult to interpret those facts. Maybe Goosen will not do anything just to annoy Ward or maybe Ward is pricing himself out thinking that since he got 2M for Rodriguez the clubfighter, he should get an exorbitant amount to show his skills against a 5-time champion.
Then Ward would've been fighting a hell of a lot more if that were the case. Same reason why Bob didn't go out of his way for Rigo. Yeah they're one of the best two out there but really only true boxing fans want to watch them. You don't want to risk having a fight flop. Yes I know about his injury but that's besides the point.
Nothing should but if you were getting sued, you really think you'd wanna find that person some fights? Doubt it. It's just all hot air right now as far as I'm concerned.

they fight in different divisions and thus neither is ducking
Ward and GGG don't have to avoid each other
Ward is wasting his career fighting out of the ring instead of in it
GGG was chasing after a fight with Chavez
past that, he's just staying busy waiting for Martinez
Well tbh he probably would of went for cotto because of the money.
I would have disagreed with the choice because beating cotto wouldnt prove anything, he needs to beat martinez to become the 160 lineal champ.
I honestly think that martinez doesnt want to fight GGG and will probably retire after fighting cotto but I could be wrong.
Yeah so.....GGG would be a duck in your book.

I'm actually not convinced he would take Cotto over Maravilla - right now the priority is building his brand, and Maravilla as the MW lineal titlist would do far more for that than Cotto whilst still providing a substantial payday - (probably they'd be closer to parity, though Maravilla would still be the A side). In the long term beating Maravilla before he retires would likely be more beneficial than a bigger money fight with Cotto.
If GGG was offered the Cotto fight, do you think he would face Martinez instead?

So again you want GGG to jump straight up and fight the lineal champ at 168, did I have to explain to you why its a bad idea for the 10th time?
Martinez didnt fight the other best fighter in his weight division.
Do you understand weight divisions or not?
If GGG was offered the Cotto fight, do you think he would face Martinez instead?
GGG wanted to take on a bloated Chavez Jr at 168 instead of a legit contender.
Why? Money. Same reason Martinez is fighting Cotto.
Stop the damn hypocrisy.

People still believe Ward :lol1: Kessler and Froch, two men who fight anyone, have called him out for a rematch yet Ward claims that they 'don't want to fight him'. As good a fighter Ward is, and he is top class, it kills him that he isn't a draw and guys like Kessler and Froch are. He would have to fight them in Denmark and England respectively to make money.
Ward says that nothing in the litigation should be preventing him from still getting fights while it plays out:

Well imo I think that martinez should have fought the other best fighter at 160 who is GGG.
Martinez decided to take on a bloated cotto instead of a legit contender.
I like the sport of boxing, not who has the bigger paychecks.
I have said it so many times, give GGG a few tune up fights at 168 and then by all means have a crack at ward.
You act like going up in weight and taking on ward is a simple feat, he is one of the best boxers in the world, you need to be prepared for that and not just jump straight into the deep end without testing the waters first.

Well I'm pretty sure I've seen you accusing Martinez of "ducking" GGG.
But when people say GGG should fight Ward, you've got every excuse in the book. "He not ready doe!" :lol1:

Yes, Martinez lost his first fight at 160 against williams who isnt the lineal champ.
Martinez beat Pavlik in his second fight at 160 to be the lineal champ.
As you can see Martinez didnt go straight for the lineal champ when he moved to 160.
When do you see me carrying on like some of the other GGG fans, I know that he is untested and I want him to fight martinez asap.
Im actually a boxing fan, not some fanboy like a lot of the other posters.

Also, even if Ward wanted to fight, his promoter is getting him fights anyway.
Ward says that nothing in the litigation should be preventing him from still getting fights while it plays out:
This isn’t a lawsuit where the judge has put a mandate or stipulation where I can’t fight. That’s not the case.....It’s not like we’re on the sidelines until this lawsuit is . No, we’re supposed to be fighting.

Is Ward avoiding Kovalev?
Physically Ward/Kovalev are closer than Ward/GGG.
Yes.
Kovalev is everybody's nightmare... he is able to dispatch his opponent in few seconds -- once he figures out the opponent's rehearsed moves...
I'm not going to pretend to know how much real interest exists on either side for Ward/Golovkin, but considering the bullsh*t Ward's putting himself through I doubt he's in position to negotiate for anything, and I'm even more sure Golovkin's people aren't looking to make that fight.
A lot of the talk from earlier this year on both sides suggests they're hoping Golovkin finally gets a shot at the MW crown and the fight gets bigger before it happens.
Martinez's first fight at middleweight was against the lineal champion.
GGG wanted to fight Chavez for money instead of the best fighter at 168.
Why the excuses for GGG?
Wasn't Williams/Martinez 1 at middleweight? So that was the fight he jumped up for.
If I remember right he took it on short notice, too. Paul Williams on short notice is a hell of a lot harder than Kelly Pavlik.
Why is a CW needed for Ward but not Chavez Jr?
And why can GGG offer a fight to Chavez Jr, but Ward has to ask GGG for a fight?
Because Ward is a p4p fighter and leagues above Chavez. Furthermore Kessler said he'd fight GGG at a CW and when he can, then surely Ward can as well.
