My money is on things pretty much staying the Same - de la Hoya ain't gonna fire Schaefer - at least not as long as Floyd is fighting, IMO.
I don't know man, you could be right but I see a shake up coming and some one is losing their seat at the table, I think it'll be Oscar who after its all said and done is going to be the one who has a depleted near empty stable or him joining TR side and Shaeffer, Haymon, Espinoza, Mayweather doing their thing
I could be wrong, all speculation on my part
We're waiting for an answer to this question but it's not impossible that some new promotional entity could be created with the finance to bankroll a Mayweather fight.

It's my understanding that Floyds 32 mil per fight guarantee comes from Sho/CBS. Floyd hires GBP to conduct the tasks a Promoter would, i.e. obtaining sponsors, conducting/completing administrative tasks/duties, handling the financials, etc... for his fights. In a sense he's paying GBP to use their license and staff. GBP is not putting up a dime to pay Floyd.
LOL.
If Oscar "dumps" Schaefer - which he won't - GBP will be in NO position to compete with TR. None. Expect GBP to get the ass end of the stick in any potential
these are my feelings exactly. Arum has an issue with Shaffer because Arum can't walk over him in negotiations. If anyone is paying attention, all bouts where Arum is working with another promotional outfit, Arum/ Top Rank is clearly the one in charge. Shaffer won't bow or cower down to Arum and that's been the issue all along. If Arum can manipulate the situation to ensure there is a rift between Shaffer and ODLH, he will because he knows how to impose his will on ODLH to get things to go his way
This is true. May weather basically has been a gbp fighter fighting on a fight by fight basis.
They're not licensed in Nevada. They've only done small casino shows in New York and I think Washington
I have no idea why they're not licensed in Nevada
Mayweather promotions isn't a real promotion company... they have no license to promote fights in any state.

Except...Haymon isn't beholden to anyone. He has fighters promoted by other companies. He can do as he pleases, in spite of the non-stop story telling you've done in this thread.
I'm not sure which other companies promote his fighters....this is the list
Floyd Mayweather Jr.
Adonis Stevenson
Amir Khan
Peter Quillin
Josesito Lopez
Erislandy Lara
Cristobal Arreola
Devon Alexander
Adrien Broner
Kyrone Davis
Andre Berto
Danny Garcia
Austin Trout
Lamont Peterson
Anthony Peterson
Seth Mitchell
Gary Russell Jr.
Antonio Tarver
Sakio Bika
Vernon Forrest
Lamon Brewster
Jermain Taylor
J'Leon Love
Omar Figueroa
Paul Williams
Leo Santa Cruz
John Molina, Jr.
Deontay Wilder
Lucas Matthysse
Chris Pearson
Errol Spence
Marcos Maidana
Julian Williams
Keith Thurman
Paulie Malignaggi
Robert Guerrero
Shawn Porter
Luis Collazo
Rances Barthelemy
I only briefly skimmed that but I'm pretty sure literally 99% if the fighters on that list are GBP promoted. Whether they have a contract or not I dont know but they all fought on GBP cards.
Simply put if Schaefer gets fired, I wouldnt expect an exodus over it. Mayweather Promotions is nothing atm and GBP is an established power house.
Also Ellerbe is retarded and the only reason he has his job is because of Mayweather. Oscar can hire anybody and they'll probably be a better CEO than Ellerbe. Fighters would be stupid to switch promoters just because Schaefer gets fired.
The cold war ending is better for everybody, except for duckers like Floyd and Stevenson.
Mayweather promotions isn't a real promotion company... they have no license to promote fights in any state.Unfortunately for us, they're not in short supply of licensed promotional outfits who are willing to do business with them.
People cannot forget the GBP Showtime deal and Mayweather deal were all organized by five men... Richard Schaefer, Al Haymon, Stephen Espinoza, Leonard Ellerbee and Sam Watson. If Richard is no longer with GBP, the best bet is that all five of these guys will continue to work together in the future most likely under the Mayweather Promotions banner. Espinoza and Schaefer are very very close. If Schaefer leaves GBP expect most Haymon fighters that aren't under contract to switch banners to Mayweather Promotions and fight on Show. The Cold War wont be over because now most of GBP's top fighters wont be with GBP they will be with Mayweather Promo, who wont work with Arum.
.....
Or De La Hoya allows Schaefer to stay on board if him and Haymon make up with Arum and we get Mayweather-Pacquiao in September, with Thurman v Bradley, Marquez v Porter and Matthysse v Provodnikov all on the undercard..........

Of course. Can't stop someone from working if you fire them. I still would be shocked if that happens and it appears to me that Schafer is trying to leave, not Oscar is trying to fire him.
It is hard to tell what is really going on over there, but I would not be shocked if your version is correct. We can assume that some changes are definitely taking place internally and the end outcome will be very interesting. I do expect litigation on some level. This silence tells me Lawyers are working.
What do you mean by "letting it happen?" Smh. Again these things don't occur in a vacuum.
They obviously have outside influences... But why is Golden Boy building up a fighter who isn't even in their stable? Richard Schaefer, Espinoza, Haymon...Any of them could be responsible, but guess what? Only Schaefer works for Golden Boy.
It's not about making the decisions it's about letting them happen. He's the CEO of GBP. It's his job to do what's best for the company. If he doesn't then he should get fired

You see people on here say GBP would be this or that without Dick Schaefer...posters like The _ Tase say he is easily replaced. I would argue a Swiss banker who understands the ebb and flow of the boxing game is harder to replace than most of us can imagine.
I wonder why people think Schafer makes these decisions in a vacuum.

You know we're talking about the fight at Stubhub Center right? With Matthysse on the undercard. There's no way in hell they thought Thurman could sell more tickets than Matthysse, especially in Southern California where they support Latino fighters.
I think a guy like Thurman can (and probably will tbh) leave, but that's why Schaefer screwed over GBP and probably a good reason as to why he will be out of a job soon.

That probably means he was the biggest name on the card. So it would be pretty smart to use him to sell tickets and get people to come in and look at your other fighters. Or, just maybe, Thurman is one of those fighters who might leave with him. Lots of possibilities.
