The MW and SMW divisions had a lot of class fighters back then and Eubank cherry picked some opponents thanks to the cushy SKY deal he was given. But he fought some absolute wars in between and made the absolute most of his talent. The Watson and Benn fights had massive TV audiences in the UK. I think 14 million peak? Incredible fights as well.
I can see why he avoided Toney and MacCallum to be fair. Toney was an awesome SMW back then and MacCallum was ATG material even then and would have beaten him. Eubank has also admitted he avoided Herol Graham probably due to the high risk low reward factor and the fact that Graham was probably the best pure boxer of that UK MW era.
I felt sorry for the reporter during the conference call on the last 24/7, he asked Roger two questions and didn't get a straight answer for either of them:

Spinks would have been a very interesting fight with prime RJJ. No-one at LHW at the time could get a handle on his style as it was so unpredictable.
Also going up and beating Holmes (the 2nd fight he lost I think some dodgy judging there to say the least) is a far greater achievement than beating Ruiz. His legacy is slightly tainted by him turning up shaking with fear vs Tyson

Hamed got a lesson against Barrera and never had the desire to step up to that level (ATG) again. Maybe earlier in his career before he split with Ingle he might have given a better account of himself but by then he'd decided that his ring entrance was more important than the fight. One thing though the Eubank Watson 2nd fight was at white hart lane not Earls Court (that was the 1st one). Watson was out on his feet before the finish but he was winning the fight so what can you do?. What didn't help at all was the total lack of medical support in the venue as I remember it took an age to get him out of there.

Lennox Lewis vs Riddick Bowe didn't happen at first because Bowe and Newman blatantly ducked Lewis. Then it was going to get made a couple of years later but Lewis lost to McCall. Bowe was shot to pieces after that.

That was a stoppage all day long. Terrible deep cut very close to the eye. Lewis beat Vitali TKO in his final fight. Yes he ducked the rematch but Credit where it's due. Last really good quality HW title fight.
