Just looking back on that fight and seeing marco wipe this guys face with his ass is some kinda site...the hype machine hammed had steamed rolled everyone he had faced with his unusual stlye of fighting until he faced the baby faced assassin... No magic carpet ride to the ring could help hammed for this fight along with his cornerman e. Steward ... Now u got to give hammed credit for all of his accomplishments in the ring but, after the barrera fight he seemed to mentally say fck it... It,s ashame that he stopped fighting because he had what people like and that,s excitement and people really enjoy that... Both of these guy,s are some of my favorite fighters but, who elses thinks barrera put a end to hammed,s career???

Same thing will Happen to Floyd Jr after may 1st. Mosley will destroyed him!
hamed was going downhill entering that fight with his lack of work ethic and barrera made sure to close down the hamed show! It was a great watch, barrera made him look like a tool!
yes he couldnt pull it off in america. the announcers were laughing there asses off at his small screne euro ringwalk that all the UK kiddies were into. and if you watch him walking down the isle to the ring someone throws a cup of piss into his face. how embarrasing.
when barrera was schooling him and banged haameds head into ring post...ah ha ha ha!
How do u know it was piss?
Thats ****ed up.
And to think America got mad when Hatton fans booed the national anthem.
hamed wasnt past prime or near it when he fought mab. he was as prime as he can be, heck he tko/ko 8 out of his last 10fight before that and never been into wars ala-em or mab. he got ruined mentally by mab coz he was made to look like the clown that he usually does to his opponents.
If u watch his career in order u can clearly see a decline in his fights. He started relying too much on one punch KO's and neglected his defence and boxing.
He wasnt as mentally focused or driven as he was earlier in his career. So in a way he was mentally past his prime.
im not gonna read any of hamed fans' post, im just gonna say this...
if you really believe hamed lost to barrera just because he didnt "train properly" then that dont mean shit because hamed never beat anyone worthy and had trouble beating fighters like kevin kelley ! barrera would of schooled any fuken time.
That was a factor in why he lost. But i always believed Barrera fought a smart fight. Hamed had been exposed by Sanchez and Kelly.
what don't you get. he fought second tier euros the hole time. when he fought someone world ranked he got exposed and never could live it down.
He fought many world class fighters and many world champions. He cleaned out the division for 6 years.
He lost the desire for the game, and was rich and lazy.
I never think it's "funny" to see a fighter, or indeed anyone, humiliated, as he undoubtedly was by Barrera.
Hamed deserved to be humiliated by Barrera. He had done it his whole career to his opponents.

well this is common knowledge in boxing already. but IMO steward ruined Hamed more than anything. and dont' forget, Barrera is naturally bigger than Hamed as well. That reach advantage for Barrera was a big problem for Hamed.

I do. If he didnt come out so cocky and confident flying on some harness wasting time i wouldve been sympathetic. barrera's entrance took less than 3 minutes and he got his job done.
it was funny to see him do an extremely long, over elaborate entrance, only to see his ass get beat

Why would there be a rematch when he got outclassed?
As a fight goes, he wasn't actually "outclassed", but for Hamed, he was outclassed. Until then he was a killer, and really interesting to watch (not to listen to) with his unusual style, and his glaring off balance-out of position- punches, which all to often hit the mark, and also all too often missed, and left him badly off balance. The problem was that there had never been anyone until Barrera, who could take advantage of this.
A HUGE part of his downfall was that, as Manny Steward said once, he never trained more than a couple of weeks for any fight, just messed around, and allowed his huge ego to take control. Then again, by the time Barrera punctured his amor propre, he had so much money that he didn't care, and more or less "folded his tent and stole away" as the poet says.
No he didn't. Marco gets full credit for the win, but he beat Naz at a time where he'd already been on top for quite some time and really had nowhere to go after a loss in a big fight. See maybe Joe vs Lacy for an example of someone ruining a guy's whole career.
Hamed ruined his own career. As Lennox said to him after the fight - ''it's how you come back that defines a champion'', well he came back against Calvo for one fight, won a poor points verdict and that was that, his heart was broken and couldn't do it anymore.
The Prince was mentally ruined before the Barrera fight. He had no hunger and desire to train hard which is a vital ingredient in remaining at the top of the game.
