It's all fair game. Frazier can say whatever he likes about Ali because Ali felt he could say anything about Frazier. No one should feel sorry for Ali.
No way this is true unless this billionaire is doing it as an investment thinking he can make bank on the business end somehow. Pacquiao has more than retire now but with this kind of money he can buy his own island.
MMA, yes. Pro wrestling as in WWF and WWE? No. I never liked that and I seriously have to question the sanity and intelligence of anyone that actually likes pro "wrestling." I never even liked that as a kid but here you have older people going crazy for it like it's the real thing.
He'll never be the future with that name. It just won't work in this day and age. He's also almost 30 years old and he's fought a bunch of unknowns. I think it's time for him to step up in competition.
Broner thinking he's like Mayweather when he's only imitating his attitude and moves. Maidana is a real fighter that won't fall for Broner's nonsense and should be able to tag him all night and wouldn't be surprised if he hurts Broner throughout the fight and possibly stop him.
WTF?
What is that supposed to be? Did he just watch Memoirs of a Geisha or something?
Danny is as soulless as his image. All he does is train and fight and everyone else does everything else for him, including what's best for him. I don't see this ending well for Garcia. Once he gets his butt handed to him at 147 he'll most likely be out of the sport by the time he's 30 and probably broke.
Probably Ike ibeauchi. No doubt he would have crushed a Klitschko back in 1999 if they ever fought and probably would have changed the face of heavyweight boxing as we know it today.
Provodknikov vs Garcia needs to happen but I bet Danny's dad will protect his son from Provodnikov after the beating Garcia took from Matthysse. Provodnikov is way tougher than Matthysse and I would argue hits harder.
The pressure, past wars, etc. are probably taking a toll on him. He's getting way too much attention. He's about to turn 26 and it's a bit too much for him getting all of this attention. I had a feeling that Garcia has peaked quickly as with most lighter weight class fighters and it's only downhill from here on out unless he stays at 140. Once he moves to 147 and faces the elite fighters, his run would end quickly. No way he'd be able to handle two elite 147 lbers in a row.
It's the other way around. Maidana and Provodnikov would have serious problems against Thurman because not only does he hit harder than them, but he can box. I think he batters them from the outside for the first half of the fight and stops them late on. On the same night ;)
Matthysse is an average sized LWW, don't think he should move up to WW tbh.
No doubt Thurman hits hard but he's not used to being in the ring with guys with that kind of power in Maidana and Provodnikov. Maybe Thurman has more power than both of those guys but I don't think he can take a punch nearly as well as Maidana or Provodnikov.
I can see Thurman having some success but I have a feeling he'll peak quickly and fade out. 147 is a stacked division and with his style he'll face some problems with heavy hitters like Provodnikov and Maidana. I think Matthysse and Thurman should get it on at 147. There's no reason for Matthysse to stay in the 140 lb. division any longer.
Curtis Stevens wouldn't last a round against Stevenson. Stevens probably shouldn't be calling out a bigger puncher than himself. He already tried that against Golovkin and you saw how that turned out.
Racial, cultural, whatever. It has been racist since it started becoming mainstream. Jack Johnson anyone? Either way, it doesn't matter what motivates a fighter as long as the fight is entertaining.
Two excellent fighters and great punchers. I think GGG is better pfp but Kovalev is at least 15 pounds bigger naturally and maybe more than that. When you have two powerhouses against each other the one with that much size advantage should get the best of things.
Yes, but GGG has some serious power, enough to hurt Kovalev or knock him out, I think. Prime Tyson wasn't a big heavyweight and was outweighed by his opponents but his smaller size gave way for better movement and speed. I think a motivated and hungry GGG could very much knockout Kovalev but since they're in different weight classes that's not going to happen.
Shumenov's power is real and it would be interesting to see him in there with Kovalev who jumps in with his power punches. I can totally picture Shumenov timing a punch and knocking Kovalev down or out like Marquez against Pacquiao. I think Kovalev's biggest threat is a counter puncher and Shumenov can totally play the counter puncher in the fight.
GGG isn't even a big middleweight and Kovalev is a big light heavyweight. They fight 15 lbs. apart so the advantage would definitely go to Kovalev on paper but in a fight you never know. I still think GGG has enough power to catch and hurt Kovalev, especially the way he rushes in.
not really. he's never knocked out anyone even halfway decent. he couldn't even hurt glass jawed campillo.
Kovalev tends to jump in with his punches and if Shumenov times the punch perfectly like Marquez against Pacquiao, he can definitely at least knockdown Kovalev with a perfect counter and possibly have him seriously in trouble.
Hagler would stalk down De La Hoya from the opening bell and pound him to the body and head. No way De La Hoya makes it the full distance unless he runs the whole fight.
Canelo looked like a beast and more than big enough to be a contender at middleweight. The Canelo from last night had more than enough to give Golovkin a run for his money.
As long as Bradley is still somewhat relevant and had big money fights on the horizon, there's no reason for him to retire. Heck, he can probably stick around and maybe fight Cotto at 154.
Maidana has improved like crazy and seems to have better movement to boot. He'll be tougher than Canelo for Mayweather. There's no doubt that this will be a close fight until the end and Maidana is able to change the fight at any moment. This will probably be a fight of the year candidate type of fight along with Chavez Jr. vs Golovkin.
If Cotto can get in close with Mayweather, you better believe Maidana will be able to do the same and wreck that body and go upstairs against Mayweather. Mayweather will have to adjust many times throughout the fight more than he has with any opponent. Maidana will be his toughest test yet.
