Most of you repeat the same regurgitated rubbish about Maidana being a plodding forward, cement footed one dimensional fighter who blocks punches with his face. This couldn't be further from the truth, and it really shows who just co signs what they hear in the media, and who watches him fight.
Some of us have been watching him since day one and we have seen him evolve, and become a solid boxer with good defense, a good jab, and a higher ring IQ. Maidana can close the distance on fighters and cut off the ring, and is unpredictable with his unorthodox punches and will take Floyd to deep waters and prove so many of you wrong!
Maidana has improved like crazy and seems to have better movement to boot. He'll be tougher than Canelo for Mayweather. There's no doubt that this will be a close fight until the end and Maidana is able to change the fight at any moment. This will probably be a fight of the year candidate type of fight along with Chavez Jr. vs Golovkin.
If Cotto can get in close with Mayweather, you better believe Maidana will be able to do the same and wreck that body and go upstairs against Mayweather. Mayweather will have to adjust many times throughout the fight more than he has with any opponent. Maidana will be his toughest test yet.
tell 'em!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Maidana got schooled by Devon Alexander...
People act like he has improved since then with trainer Garcia, but in reality we have no idea.. Chino has fought sotokarass broner, and Lopez, not exactly the best test sample to see if Maidana has improved vs movers/boxers...
I agree he is more skilled then given credit for, but let's not act like he is some great puncher/boxer like cotto, Tito, jcc
Maybe had he fought Pauli, Danny, Devon rematch, we would have a better understanding of his skill level improvement, but based on his recent competition, I think the jury is still out... Floyd is nothing like broner, Lopez, etc
Actually even in the fights he won recently, you see that the opponent can get Maidana in trouble. Soto Karass was doing well and had Maidana in trouble but since Soto Karass is hittable, it gave Maidana the chance to do what he did. It was NOT an easy fight for Maidana.
Floyd can do what Devon did and has more defensive weapons to exploit Maidana.
It's always the same formula but as you even said yourself, there is no hard evidence that shows that Maidana can beat a Devon, Floyd, ..... they hyped up his last opponent (ie. same formula) and hoping that people buy into the hype.
Broner's only win at 147 was a close one against soft punching Paulie Malignaggi who got disposed of quite easily last weekend by Porter.

Maidana certainly has a chance with his power, unorthodox style and relentless pursuit. Honestly though, I just think it'll be another easy Mayweather decision just maybe with a few tough moments.

WHAT????
Maidana either lands the lucky home run punch or he gets beat 118-110 or 119-109.
Floyd is the best at selling his opponent as a real threat when in reality there has been only one in the last few years and that's the guy he wouldn't fight.
He basically got off of his couch to fight Devon. Dude was FAT. Cant believe people fail to see that, and account for it.
People won't give marcos respect, but he will earn it soon enough.
Your idea is what drives casual fans to buy the PPV. But during and after the fight, they all conclude their buy wasn't worth because it was pure domination and sometimes boring.
Which is why I do it. Except you will be wrong about everything following your first sentence.

Man I hope Loaded is right about him potentially taking Floyd into deep waters, and no doubt I think Maidana is the man. Dude is a pure fighter to the 100th degree.
But I just think really sound, technical, pure boxers who can move are just beyond what he can handle. Doing it to a statue like Broner is one thing, but Floyd (or Bradley like discussed in that other thread) is a bad match up for Marcos. Well IMO at least.
Guess we'll find out soon enough, doe.
For Maidana to win he's going to have to throw and land a home run punch accurately at the same time when Floyd makes a mistake or is throwing his own shot. It's possible, but not plausible. Floyd TKO in rd 8,9 or 10
Nah.
a quick look at the numbers reveals floyd's last 120-108 type of showing was marquez and before him baldomir. Even Ghost was a 117-111. Now, Chino is superior to Baldo in all categories. Marquez on the other hand is good, but only if allowed to fight his fight. He cant exactly fight coming forward all that well. Aside from that, The assertion that Floyd will win all 12 rounds when he classically takes a few rounds to get into his rhythm and figure out his opponent and takes random rounds off to showcase defense is real real dumb and blindness at its finest.
Wide ud.. possible. 120-108? No. Thats basically saying a Chino in beast mode is just as good as Baldomir and I cant get with that.
I also can see maidana maybe winning a couple of rounds, but mainly because of activity not because of efectivness.
But winning?? men i just dont see it. A lost bullet chance its too slim with a guy as slick as floyds.
You're trolling, right?

So how many points do you want to bet on maidana?
I'll put 10 trillion and want 10:1 ODDS!! Minimum 7:1 odds... Vegas odds are now at 12:1.
If so, confirmed on my end!! WAR MAIDANAAAA!!
