The thing is that like in any boxing fight, the pace is always dictated by the one who dominates the fight.
And since we have never seen these 2 boxers fight each other before, we can only speculate...
You are basically asking, who do you think is going to dominate the fight ?
To that, I don't know.
I used to think Canelo would win but the more I think about it, the more I see a very close fight where it could go either way.
I have two brothers 20 years my junior who are hell bent on lifting weights, the first thing I tell them is don't get big, stay a medium athletic build and work on toning and stamina. Big is really hard to maintain later in life naturally.
Thanks for the advice, I will keep that in mind.

if this gets confirmed ca$hnelo proves this is indeed his era. still very young. but he needs to maybe go the floyd route and be his own boss becuz GBP just paid him $5mill for this fight. hes worth way more.
I read somehwere that Canelo was going to cash between 30 - 40 millions $$$ with this fight and GGG somewhere around 25 - 30 millions $$$
5 million seems way too low, especially for a fight of this magnitude.
Khan is easily the biggest duck in the sport by far. I hate when people praise him for fighting Canelo. Yea, got around 10 mil and had a great excuse of if he loses. He simply pimped out his chin for money which any bum off the street would have done and probably any welterweight, nothing brave about it. Brave is fighting an upcoming welterweight or established welterweight or simply fighting Brook. Brook should have been an easy fight to make since it was a huge payday. Instead he doesn't fight any top welterweight and keeps making ridiculous excuses for not fighting Brook. Yet he constantly talks crap like he's the best in the sport. You'd have to go back more than half a decade to find the last time Khan stepped up and fought a dangerous opponent in his own weight class. His hate is very well deserved. I dare anyone to find a single fighter in the business who is more of a coward than him.
And yet, I'm sure you would not fight this ''coward'' by fear of getting yourself killed.
What can both improve on to beat the other?
The first time I watched it, gave the fight to GGG.
Second time and third time, gave the fight to Canelo.
I think I know why I scored it for GGG the first time.
The first 3 rounds, Canelo completely dominates the fight but then GGG wakes up and starts hitting back with little success but enough to give the illusion that he was making a come back and winning the fight.
The fact that he is a more agressive fighter than Canelo and has a footwork that allows him to take control of the ring also helped.
Truth is Canelo was still slightly dominating most of the fight even after the 3rd round, except for a couple of rounds that GGG won.
I love both boxers but GGG clearly lost that fight.
Rewatching fight is always necessary especially when there are 2 very skilled world class boxers in the ring.
There are so much details we don't notice the first time we watch a fight, probably because we get pretty emotional. Personally I remember my heart was racing very fast despite sitting on my couch.
And to answer your first question, yes, this fight live up to the hype, it was a masterpiece, beautiful to watch.
Never liked him, but I hope it's not true. Cuz the kid had balls to fight that piece of **** canelo at middleweight
Wow, even better....
People who do not like Canelo, do not really appreciate boxing imho.
Canelo is an artist.
That I don't get at all. Here's a guy who doesn't duck anyone, doesn't have boring fights and sometimes gets knocked out for his bravery in both opponent choices and fighting style. That's the thanks he gets for his sacrifice is people ridiculing him for losing some fights. Then the same people complain about guys ducking and running. He's brain damaged now because he gives people the kind of fights we all scream and holler for.
Well said, agree 100%.
All i'll say is hit the gym at 25 and go hard, at 30 hit the gym and go hard, hit the gym at 35 and go hard and compare all three. You'll see slippage within yourself. I learned this the hard way myself earlier this year. The body is the body. All the good eating, all the good living, all of that matters none when you hit that peak and start the downward trend. It's why all of my friends are hopped up on super pre workout now, without they can't put in the same grind anymore.
That's a scary thing to think about...
That one day, I won't be able to do the same things I used to do with my body without any problem.
It's gonna be a rough awakening...
That must probably be one of the reason people have middle life crisis.
Honestly, I had a boner while watching this fight.
From a technical point of view, it was just beautiful to watch, much more beautiful to watch than a AJ vs Klitschko, which was more about drama with a Shakespearean ending (great for the casuals). Don't get me wrong, I loved AJ vs Klitschko but Canelo vs GGG was the best fight of this year and one of the best fight I have ever seen with my own eyes.
I saw two legendary boxers of complete equal skills with two very different style. Now I think GGG won this fight because he has a better cardio than Canelo who gazed out after 2 minutes in each of the last 6 rounds. It was a very close fight though so the draw decision is not too shocking after all.
People are just paying too much attention on that decision instead of just appreciating the masterpiece they witnessed...
Waiting for that rematch like a mad man.
And yet, Mcgregor knocked out Aldo in less than 13 seconds with one single punch... And we all know now that Mcgregor is not even a decent boxer, that tells a lot.
Bring your best MMA fighter against a guy like Mike Tyson, pound for pound, the MMA fighter doesn't even have a chance.. Boxers are by far the best street fighters and anyone who has been involved in a street fight knows that boxing is the most valuable asset on the street.
The last thing you want to do is grab your opponent even if you are great at it, cause if the guy is a good boxer, you are dead as soon as you enter his reach, plain and simple.
In a street fight, the golden rule is to always keep a safe distance while throwing punches.
Thoughts?
Being a good company man?
Too emotionally attached?
Edit: Let me put into context
Schaub was talking about how Floyd said Connor wasn't that hard of a puncher.
Rogan interjected with " But Connor did not look like he was putting a lot of power in his punches."
It's not easy to put power in punches. When I first started sparring, it took me 2 months to have a decent power in my punches and this is only for the technique.
One other thing that you have to deal with is fear. The more you punch hard, the more you can expect to get punched hard. Subconsciously, it plays a huge role. It takes time to learn to control fear and overcome it. And some will never find a way to overcome it.
No one talked about it but Mcgregor was scared af. Just before getting in the ring and when he was in the ring. You could tell and as soon as Floyd hit him hard, Mcgregor had near to no power in his punches. Psychology plays a huge role in boxing.
Read the book "iron mike" by mike tyson, if you have the chance. It's a brilliant book about Cus D'amato who was a mastermind and a great psychologist. You will better understand the psychological aspect of boxing after reading this.
I personally think MMA fans (and McConor fans, specifically) embarrassed themselves before and after this event. Even something as FACTUAL as: 'The best MMA fighter cannot go a 12 round fight' they still deny.
I think we see that the boxing fans are much, much more hardcore. That MMA fans are casuals who know little about their own sport, let alone boxing, or they have an agenda and won't man up. Most people that I know, who were on the fence going in to this fight, now rock with boxing due to how the MMA fans conducted themselves.
In the end, we all know what happened. There is no denying that in the history of combat sports, no human being talked so much sh*t and delivered so little as this McConor guy,
This
That fight might have actually hurt MMA's reputation.
All these MMA casuals thinking MMA fighters are the best fighters in the world, could take on anyone. Well surprise surprise mother****er, it's not that simple.
Floyd fought like Mike Tyson for the first time of his life and he won. Lol
No respect for Conor whatsoever.
''What ? My defensive stance ? **** that ****, not against this guy please !''
''Instead I will go for a Peekaboo style and knock him out when I feel like it.''
As simple as that Conor fan boy.
Don't mention that uppercut again please.
The reason Floyd missed that punch is because he hits exactly where the head of an experienced boxer would have been.
Are you kidding man ? You wanted McGregor to get killed ?
Because that's exactly what would have happened if the fight would have continued. The guy refused to go to sleep, he stayed on his feet like a ****ing retard despite suffering from severe concussion (lack of coordination), completely defenceless against the ropes waiting for that final blow to take his life.
I'm ok if a guy like Ali gets bullied in the ropes, i know he has a good chin and he gives clear signs that he is still alive. But let's be serious, Mcgregor looked like a ****ing zombie at the end and it was his first pro boxing fight anyway, that was already way too brutal for him.
McGregor ''won'' the first 2 rounds.
I said ''won'' cause his punches were laughable, completely powerless, so much that I felt embarassed for him despite supporting Mayweather.
But at least he invented a new kind of punch today, aka the ''hammer'' punch.
Facepalm....
