if this gets confirmed ca$hnelo proves this is indeed his era. still very young. but he needs to maybe go the floyd route and be his own boss becuz GBP just paid him $5mill for this fight. hes worth way more.
Oh, stfu you sissy. Canelo's low end PPVs are 300K (Lara), 300K (Smith), 350K (Angulo) and 500+K (Khan).
The fight did well because of Ca$hnelo's popularity and because it was a good matchup. Zero to do with Borat. Whether it was Borat or anybody else, Ca$hnelo + a perceived good opponent = excellent numbers. Ca$hnelo + a nobody = good numbers. Borat + nobody = s**t. Borat + a perceived good opponent = piss.
Keep sucking off Borat you queer.
You came back and edited a post 8 months after the fact. Talk about suspicious. Also Ca$hnelo, isn't that your other ID? Why are you using two profiles?
BTW you sound like a total moron. The fight had nothing to do with Golovkin but then you say it was a good matchup.
I know you probably don't have a GED but here's some remedial math for you. 1.3M buys - 300K buys = what? Golovkin brings money to the table. Everyone in their mother isn't just there to watch Canelo. Just because you'd pay to Erin Andrews Canelo doesn't mean everyone else would.
Lets all let out a big "I told you so" for the doubters and haters who said that May/Mac was going to shut out GGG/Canelo and hurt their numbers. As discussed, different fan bases for these two events, neither one detracted from the other. Good to see there are still a lot of fans who appreciate a real fight between the two best in their respective division. Looking forward to the rematch!
I was actually one of the doubters. I didn't question Canelo's drawing power or GGG's ability to gain fans, I just felt that casuals would be turned off by spending $100 for another let down from Floyd. The fight was decent for a circus fight, but it still only gave Canelo-GGG a few weeks of real promotion.
This is one of those times where I'm happy to he wrong.
The fact that Canelo-GGG drew very good numbers despite so much focus on May-Conor in the preceding weeks and when you consider how fun their first fight was tells me they will sell even more for the rematch.

wow thats impressive i missed this. anyone who doesnt think may mac helped at this point is naive. surprised I missed this im honestly stunned if this turns out to be true and it just shows boxing is not dead and never will die just needs its stars
Canelo did under 350 vs Lara and Others. Him vs TBA isn't doing sh1t. Same as it's always been, when you make a compelling fight, people buy it. Make a sh1t fight and they'll pass
Cotto-Canelo did almost a million homes, Canelo-ChavezJr apparently did a million homes, Canelo-Khan did over 600k homes, etc.
Even if Canelo vs TBA is locked in at ~400k homes, that's still a $30m take on the US TV ($15m one all of the outside parties are paid).
If true, that's amazing..
Great for boxing, give us the fights we want and fans will spend money.
At 2 million buys, a rematch is guaranteed either in may or September 2018
Why is it taking so long to reveal the REAL numbers? No way they did anywhere close to that. Just not believable.
I was actually wondering the same thing
This fight definitely was very huge, my friends who DKSAB came over to my place to watch this fight. While the Canelo vs Chavez fight no one around me even knew it was happening yet that got 1 mill PPV buys, so it does not surprise me that this fight could have done 2 mill PPV's
I read somehwere that Canelo was going to cash between 30 - 40 millions $$$ with this fight and GGG somewhere around 25 - 30 millions $$$
5 million seems way too low, especially for a fight of this magnitude.
A newspaper in the U.K. said that Canelo was guaranteed £11 million and GGG £8 million (before PPV revenues)...
Lol. If Canada actually was as bad a market as you want to say, why in the **** did Kovalev head there twice for his first two multi-million dollar paydays? Population numbers don't mean **** when you're talking about PPV boxing.
On his own name, Alvarez is already a draw on PPV; him vs TBA is likely good for 600k-700k PPV buys without any real worry. And, as much as you are openly trying to minimize things, David Lemieux is a draw in Montreal.
You're drastically overstating the size of draw and business that Golovkin brings to the table, lol
