I'm NOT OK with those early stoppages, like what happened with mcgregor, kovalev, and many other too early stoppage.
Unless one is leaning on the ropes unconcious or taking extreme punishment, the referee should let the fight finish like it's supposed too.
Those early stoppage feel like fcking and have to pull the diikk out when you are about to come.
Let the KO happen, let the man hit the fcking canvas.
The ref was protecting McGregor for some reason. I've seen guys getting beat up much worse along the ropes. This guy calls boxing "half a fight" and the ref stops it because McGregor is tired smh. Let Floyd at least drop him ffs.
Now MMA fans will not only say a boxing novice fought an ATG on even terms before gassing out, but they'll also say he finished the fight on his feet without getting knocked down.
He was defenseless and if he was seriously hurt it would not have gone down well, Connor was out on his feet and not punching back after a minute of getting belted, ref had no choice Connor should have thrown a punch back and it would not have been stopped, it was one punch from a Ricky Hatton stoppage, just spent and nothing left.
And look how big Connor was are these fools for real.

Tell that to this guy ---

Initially I thought the fight was stopped too early. When they showed the replay, I changed my mind. McGregor was done. Any further action would've put his health at serious risk. Way too many examples of fighters who are irreparably damaged because they took one too many punches. The ref made the right call here.
Are you kidding man ? You wanted McGregor to get killed ?
Because that's exactly what would have happened if the fight would have continued. The guy refused to go to sleep, he stayed on his feet like a ****ing retard despite suffering from severe concussion (lack of coordination), completely defenceless against the ropes waiting for that final blow to take his life.
I'm ok if a guy like Ali gets bullied in the ropes, i know he has a good chin and he gives clear signs that he is still alive. But let's be serious, Mcgregor looked like a ****ing zombie at the end and it was his first pro boxing fight anyway, that was already way too brutal for him.
Exactly right. There was literally no need for it to continue, none what so ever. Just because you don't go down, does not mean you haven't been decisively beaten. He had nothing left gas tank wise, was being caught clean, backing up and not throwing back...He had succumb. No need in wanting to see him go down to confirm anything, it was conclusive enough as it was.
Know what happens when the ref doesn't properly stop fights?
Magomed Abdusalamov.
Gerald McClellan.
Michael Watson.
The list goes on and on.
McGregor was eating FLUSH shots for a straight minute. That's dangerous.
It was an appropriate stoppage.
this, this, and this
Good stoppage
Post-fight, Conor says, 'I feel like I've just been involved in a match, not a fight' ...exactly right, boxing is a sport albeit a very serious one. The man was beaten, no need to make a man a vegetable
In this case I agree that the ref could have allowed it to continue, but you should understand the position the ref is in. People have died taking punishment while standing up.
Anyone can get damaged when you take punches to the head.
I'm really tired of people who claim Floyd has no power. He doesn't have one-punch knockout power, but he's got enough power to keep you honest and, every fighter worth their stuff who faced Floyd will gladly admit he's got power.
Let's not forget, he just stopped the 170lb gorilla in the standup game. Something NOBODY in MMA could do.
Done.
A gorilla who's footwork was all fucced, steadily threw arm punches all night. Boss up, and wake up to a world of logic and common sense.
Pretty much, now I wanted to see one of them go down too because it would have made it an even better night and it was awesome already. But at the end of the day I'm all for health being of the first priority and the ref saved Conor from himself.
Exactly...Conor would be too proud to quit outright, he may have taken a knee or started to seriously back away/run in order to avoid the punishment and I also cant imagine his corner pulling him out either if he made it out the round. So Conor was either going to have to fight back and end up going down or cover up and be waved off and he chose not to fight back - any sane ref would stop that and that is what happened. People just wanted to see a huge highlight reel KO after all the attention and build up thats all. I get it, but theres no need in that situation.

Lmao this N1GG4 actually thinks Floyd can Mago somebody. I don't even think he could drop his b1tch. Byrd would step in.

I 100% agree especially considering last night the ref jumped in as Mayweather missed 2 punches.
The rules state that if a boxersb ody is held up by the ropes (based upon refs opinion) then it can be counted as a KD. The ref should have provided a count. Mac was nowhere near hurt enough for it to be instantly stopped.

Floyd hit him on one side of the ring and he spaghetti legged to the other side of the ring.
It was over.

Imagine Castillo-Corrales nowadays lol..some of the greatest fights in history had someone coming back from absolute dire straights to win. Now if you go in the corner and the other guy throws 5-10 punches, wether they land or not, the ref comes jumping in.
Totally agree
Arguably. Eitherway, Bay stoppage was more legit than Floyd-Conor, you can tell he was hurt, while Conor was just gassed rather than hurt.
By using this over-protectionism we will see less and less KO and boxing will slowly turn to a semi-contact sport unless you have guys like Amir Khan that goes unconscious every time.
What about the Price - Thompson II fight? A quick refresh: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MydOYzmNAqs
He was also completely out of gas. He received a standing count, but should that only have been an eight count?
So was this stoppage not good either? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VcNJ46sAsPM

Then you are a chump sacrificing your health for less than chump change.
Boxing is a sport. It is a sport yhan involves a lot of hurt but a sport nonetheless. We should look to reduce the risk of permanent damage which means stopping a fight when a fighter can no longer protect themselves and/or is taking a worrying amount of punishment.
McGregor was gassed and getting punched around the ring. His head was snapping back with each punch landed and he could not avoid that straight right when Mayweather unleashed it. From yhat point, it was only going to go downhill.
I felt Kovalev could have continued but he showed no signs of wanting to. He was looking at the ref for punches that were legal and bu the time the fight was stopped he had curled up into a ball.
Its a sport for men and you dont belong among us. Go watch ballerinas or sex in the city with the other twinks and leave boxing to us men.
