I watched it Saturday night for the 1st time. What I saw:
I thought Canelo won rounds 2,3,10,11 and 12 clearly
I thought ggg won rounds 5,6,7,9 clearly.
Round 1 I thought could have leaned toward Canelo but very close. Rounds 4 and 8 were close but I would have leaned toward ggg.
In conclusion any card with either fighter winning by a couple of rounds are acceptable but that 118-110 should be investigated.
It didn't live up to the hype, but it was still a good fight. I didn't watch the replay. I've stopped caring about who won. Not worth the hassle supporting one fighter when you have ****ty judges. Better to be a casual and just watch fights for fun.
Good fight. What stopped it from being a great fight was that surprisingly neither fighter could hurt the other.
Gave it to Canelo 7-5 at first viewing and in re-watching. Some close rounds though. Wish that judge hadn't had a bad card because it's blunted the credit Canelo should be getting. He went in against a bigger undefeated fighter and earned a draw.
I thought it didn't live up to the hype. How can it when people were comparing it to Hagler Hearns and Chavez Rossario. Great fight though I gave it too golovkin because canelo wasn't active enough
It was a good fight & I originally had Nelo winning by one round & the rounds lil g won were the rounds Nelo didn't work cuz he was tired from punching this dude in the face & body the whole night. lil g has zero defense.
What can both improve on to beat the other?
The first time I watched it, gave the fight to GGG.
Second time and third time, gave the fight to Canelo.
I think I know why I scored it for GGG the first time.
The first 3 rounds, Canelo completely dominates the fight but then GGG wakes up and starts hitting back with little success but enough to give the illusion that he was making a come back and winning the fight.
The fact that he is a more agressive fighter than Canelo and has a footwork that allows him to take control of the ring also helped.
Truth is Canelo was still slightly dominating most of the fight even after the 3rd round, except for a couple of rounds that GGG won.
I love both boxers but GGG clearly lost that fight.
Rewatching fight is always necessary especially when there are 2 very skilled world class boxers in the ring.
There are so much details we don't notice the first time we watch a fight, probably because we get pretty emotional. Personally I remember my heart was racing very fast despite sitting on my couch.
And to answer your first question, yes, this fight live up to the hype, it was a masterpiece, beautiful to watch.
