why would a pro pay another pro to spar with him when hes also training for an upcoming fight? that shit is fuking retarded
Tog get valuable experience against a solid fighter who can prep timing and size and technical ability in the gym. It is common pratice for fighters to pay for sparring partners, and for top level fighters it can pay positive dividens for the hired partner as well.
Great experience and getting into shape while your record is not tarnished.
He may not be educated, but he is not stupid. He knows how to promote fights and make money. He knows how to create controversy and media buzz around his fights. He knows how to promote people. He has the personality and intellegence to be successful in the boxing world.
This picture is the biggest ownage I have ever seen. That Mayweather won the fight is a secondary issue (and I'm NOT a Hatton fan):

You have seen the pic of Hattons head hitting the turnbuckle, right?
Have you seen Pernell fight? He was a master at both inside and outside fighting. If we are going to compare their inside games it really isn't close, Pernell all day.
You know I am not sure that it true. Floyd did such amazing work against Hatton, who is a master fighting on the inside, that you have to say he would be able to compete inside agaisnt Pea.
Floyd is far better than many are giving him credit for. His defense was more complete, though Pernell had the better reflexes and is a tad bit faster. This fight could happen 10 times and it would finish 5-5 I believe, which is more than I can say for most fighters if they got in the ring with Pea 10 times.
Mosley showed no fear of Tony, went right after him, landed the faster, more powerful cleaner punches and dominated Margarito in every aspect of the game.
How did you own me? Who has an undefeated record and isn't protected and has over 35 wins?
I have no idea who you are talking about.
And just because Zab has yet to beat an elite fighter does not mean he "sucks ass."
Grow up please.
good fighter, very good fighter toney but he was no great. to beat toney you need good speed and movement, toney looked his best against fighters who only fought up close against him and didn't mix it up.
all three of these fighters have good speed, footwork and can adapt! toney was only suited for counter punching off the ropes and never looked good coming forward.
Jones is head and shoulders above the rest here, with Toney and Hopinks over Joe IMO.
Haye is disrespectful of the Heavyweight King and Vitali will make him pay for that. Mark my words.
Like somebody said before I did:
"Wladimir is calm and collective and will remain respectful if you taunt him, but Vitali will put hands on you for it".
How pathetic is that?
Why cant baby bro fight his own battles?!!?
Boxing is far more technical and requires more skill.
All one has to do is watch last nights championship UFC card to determine the extreme class difference in talent and ability by champions from each respective sport.
He is not going for Klitschko because he is the best(since Vitaly now is the lesser fighter then his brother). David is going for Big V because he wants to cash out on his name before some lesser(known) fighter cashes out on David Haye himself and he loses his appeal.
David Haye, by far, does not want to make any impact, or else he would go and actually beat up the likes of Gomez, Povetkin, Dmitrenko, etc...He just wants a meal ticket.
HE doesnt want to make an impact, but he wants to fight baby brother for the title and then when baby brother is to scared to get in the ring, goes after the more dangerous and difficult fight in big brother.
sounds like he wants to make an impact to me, wanting to fight the best in the division.
Wlad and it's not even close at this point.
Granted he does not have much chance against either, David will at least have his moments against Vitaly. Wlad, on the other hand, would not give him even a second of the fight. Younger Klitschko has every single advantage over Haye that matters in this sport.
You are right that it is not close, but way off in terms of which brother.
See poll.
There is no way Haye can beat Wlad, but he has a definite chance to defeat Wlad. He has speed and power, and Wlad has a below average chin.
Haye cannot hurt Vitali, or last for 12 against him.
He has a chance against baby bro.
If someone can give me logical explanation, please explain.
Prior to facing Floyd, Hatton had 1 fight at 147 in which he barely won, went back down to 140 to take on Urango and Castillo, and by reason for which i do not understand, was made the #1 contender at WW to face Floyd. How?
Prior to facing Floyd, Oscar had 1 win over Ricardo Mayorga after a 2 1/2 yr layoff since losing to Hopkins. Ok, so Oscar has 1 win over a guy who was just destroyed by Tito and once again, for reasons which i don not understand, was made the #1 contender at junior middle weight. How?
The Floyd v Hatton fight had been in talks for 3 years.
Floyd had expressed desire to fight Oscar since his career started...
First off do not consider what the people are saying on these forums about Haye as it being the point of view of Wlad.
Wlad had nothing against facing Haye, he actually said he wished for it to be his next fight after Rahman, and was in negotiations.
However Vitali decided he wanted to step in and take Haye, and therefore its the same difference.
The highest regarded contenders are Povetkin, Haye, and Arreola. And all 3 the Klitschko's will face in 2009.
I am confused as to why 2 fighters are analyzed as one.
I like Vitali, he is a strong fighter who will take on anyone.
Wlad to me is the inferior fighter.
And this means what?
Wlad openly requested to see Haye, and David openly backed out of the fight to go for the older fighter.
But I suppose thats what all the "great" british fighters go for, the older guy who either fought once in last 4 years or just been out of his prime for a while.
Calzaghe, Hatton, Lewis, you name them.
Not6 even close to true.
Haye was calling out Wlad for as long as he has been a heavyweight, he even called him out face to face, and Wlad rejected.
All he has done is deny Haye a shot, so Haye took the harder challenge in Vitali to get to baby bro.
haye had has 2 heavyweight fights ....arreola over 20 and is a top contender....
We are talking about the guy who was dropped by Travis Walker and has had stamina and problems with condititoning, right?
I agree, I'd prefer to see a guy work his way up also but both guys had mandatories so he had to find a way to circumvent that. Money talks, and talk is money in boxing.
Being cruiserweight champ really has no bearing in the heavyweight division IMO. Being champ of a smaller weight may mean something in the lower divisions but in the heavyweight division, where one of the champs is 300 pounds, all bets are off.
It does show that Haye is a championship quality fighter.
For example, when Floyd moved up from 130 to 135, he was fighting championship level fights without having to work his way up becase he had proven himself at 130...
To me is seems that way. Haye was practically stalking and calling Wlad out everywhere he went. Wlad showed no interest in a fight, yet he is jumping on the opportunity to fight a lesser opponent in Arreola. Why did Wlad let big bro step in for him, when it was him that Haye was calling out. Not Vitali. Seems kind've like a bitch move to me.
Absolutly.
Baby bro took fat, slopy Arreola because he is less of a threat then the more polished Haye.
Let big bro take care of the threat, that is the way it has always been.
