If someone can give me logical explanation, please explain.
Prior to facing Floyd, Hatton had 1 fight at 147 in which he barely won, went back down to 140 to take on Urango and Castillo, and by reason for which i do not understand, was made the #1 contender at WW to face Floyd. How?
Prior to facing Floyd, Oscar had 1 win over Ricardo Mayorga after a 2 1/2 yr layoff since losing to Hopkins. Ok, so Oscar has 1 win over a guy who was just destroyed by Tito and once again, for reasons which i don not understand, was made the #1 contender at junior middle weight. How?
its simple.... Floyd is about that cake... Osar de la hoya can score any fight he wants because he is the last gold metalist that america has seen, and hatton likes to talk shit...... oscar was about the money, hatton was for pride... the wernt contenders.....floyd fought oscar as the challenger duh!...... plz if this thread is an attempt to hate on money may, just stop
Anything exposing Fraud Mayweather is hating on money May, yadda yadda yadda. Doesn't change the fact that Mayweather is a boring fighter. :D
So basically rankings and working your way to the top are now irrelavent?
Pretty much, just the way it is these days and i ain't condoning it by the way but the politics of this sport is tits up these days. I could think of a few names who deserved a stab at Mayweather before Hatton.
Because boxing is a business and Hatton - Oscar - Mayweather bring the money.

This thread has nothing to do with Floyd. Im only asking how Hatton and Oscar were the #1 contenders, given Hatton only had 1 fight at 147 prior to Floyd, and Oscar had only 1 fight in 2 1/2 years prior to his fight with Floyd?

Oscar was the champ at 154
There's more instances than this one with Floyd, its like people hold Floyd accountable for everything wrong with boxing when all he is doing is fighting the biggest money fights, something every boxer does.

There are two matchmaking cirlces in the sport.... Commision controlled matching (which usually goes by rankings) and Promoter controlled (which looks more at who is a bigger star). I'm not sure if the commisions designated May's opponents as #1 contender... if so, its a damn shame, because they earned their dues... but in different weight classes. Commision ranking is all about earning dues in that weight division. These Superstar vs. Superstar bouts are supposed to be the most thrilling... but honestly, some of the most thrilling matches for me are the ones that you least expected to be exciting... the mandatory defenses and fights for vacant titles.
Ok, and that automatically qualifies you as the #1 contender.

The Floyd v Hatton fight had been in talks for 3 years.
Floyd had expressed desire to fight Oscar since his career started...

It has nothing to do with hating on Floyd. It has to do with exposing the b.s politics of boxing, and the people who accept the b.s.
Your thread title had Floyd in it, so stans assume its about hating the guy.

Umm, Oscar as the champ at 154 when Floyd moved up to face him.
lol......half the people commenting on this thread getting exposed......oscar was the WBC champ.......
regarding the welterweight belt, it was dirty politics, hatton was made the mandatory so they wouldnt have to strip floyd, who had not fought a wbc rated contender for a year(the maximum required time....)....then they waited half a year to make Berto-Rodriguez for the WBC belt, and originally it was gonna be for the interim, even though Floyd was retired.....:lol1:......not to mention they wouldnt have stripped him if he wouldve fought DLH at welterweight if the rematch had materialised....
floyds love relationship with the WBC is one of the reasons he got that Decision over JLC IMO....
I recall them saying that Oscar was the #1 contender at JMW when he faced Floyd. Ask Flawless. According to him, Oscar was the #1 contender at that time.
Nope, Muttley is correct..
Listen to the decision..blah bla bla
It was for Oscars belt
Oscar was the WBC champ at 154 and Hatton wasn't his #1 challenger. Mayweather was betting favourite for both fights.
Hatton called Mayweather out again after the Castillo fight and that was the clincher. Hatton wanted the fight at 140 but Mayweather demended the fight be at 147 where Hatton looked crap in his previous fight there. They were both Ring champs going into that fight.
Thats what happens when you fight a big-name, When Hatton fought castillo he was made the number one contender at 140 even though he only beat herman Ngoujo and made his name at 135.
I can pull out so many examples but thats boxing politics for you.
:bsflag:
Hatton was the IBF champ after beating Urango and was stripped for not facing the no.1 guy (Lovemore N'Dou) going into the Castillo fight. So if JLC was no.1, why did Hatton get stripped for not facing N'Dou?

I'm not sure on the rankings but to go along with yours:
Hatton got a title shot at 147 without ever having fought there before.
Pac gets a title shot at 140 without ever having fought there before.
Floyd and Oscar.
Roy stepped out to HW and got a title shot.
The list goes on and on.
