ortiz doesnt have it, never did. very overrated fighter.
khan refuses to see his own flaws or take responsibility for his losses and will never take the next step in his career. he isnt smart enough to get to the top either.
prescott was never a top fighter, he will stay around teh same level hes always been at imo. gatekeeper/fringe contender type of fighter.
answer: linares. hes got the most potential and i think he will learn and come back stronger from his losses. i never seen the kind of mental flaws in him that overshadow everything else about ortiz and khan and his level of skill and talent is far beyond that of prescott (ortiz and khan too for that matter).
Props! You nailed it :boxing:
Absolutely nothing. Floyd had his chance with Pacquiao, and even then, you couldn't call him GOAT.
Its a product of this generation. There aren't enough truly great fighters to stack on your resume.
There really arent alot of great or even really good fighters these days, and the few that there are dont really fight each other very often. I think these days too much politics, ducking and dodging going on for that to happen, and fighters just dont fight very often either.
Hopefully in the not too distant future things change though.
3 threads and you finally got a response...persistence
I didnt think it was going thru so I kept hitting submit lol Idk how to delete the other ones tho.
And yea its true he was on his way down but I just think his struggles were largely against guys who chose to box and not engage as much, especially quick lefties. I think canelo would have been there to be hit and like pauls output to overwhelm him. But Paul was definetly there to be hit too so I think it would've been interesting
Duran moving up to beat atg Leonard who was a slickster is highly impressive. A lot of the wins between the fab 4 could be in the discussion. ( Duran over Leonard, Leonard making Duran quit, hearns blasting out Duran, hagler tko over hearns, and ray coming back from retirement and beating hagler)
Pac beating Oscar was big as well. In retrospect he was old/weightdrained, but oscar thought it was an easy win only for him to get his a55 kicked was epic.
I never thought about schmeling Louis 1, but that's a good point. The fact he even beat Louis that first fight, he definitely deserves more credit than he gets
We'll find out some of this by Saturday but I think:
Trout is gonna give canelo lots of problems with his height/boxing ability and he'll have the right combination of height/skills to expose canelo
But i don't think that trout beats mayweather. It would be a good fight and his huge height advantage coupled with skill would bother Floyd, but Floyd is just a bit better and smarter than trout at everything so I'd favor mayweather in a close one
But if canelo and mayweather fight I like canelos chances. He'd be the much bigger man and he would pressure and make a dogfight out of it. Floyd will be able to counter and cover up a lot but in the end I think canelo is just too big and strong and Floyd is too small and isn't getting any younger
Mares had the right idea when he fought Moreno....literally smother him and don't let him move, throw a million punches, and you'll win.
Though I'd clearly favor Rigondeaux to Mares....I'd like to see what Rigondeaux does against someone who will not let the fight set at a distance no matter what and who gives him no room to breathe, and who can actually cut a ring off.
Rigondeaux-Moreno would be like Mayweather-Marquez, in the sense that Rigondeaux does everything Moreno can do, only that much better. It'd be a white wash in my opinion.
Although I agree that rigo would win this fight, i don't think it would be the type of fight mayweather-marquez was. Moreno has the height/reach/ jab/movement/defense to give rigo problems. If anything id compare rigo-mares to mayweather-Hatton in that mares is gonna be rushing into hard counters all night before finally being tkod late in the fight
i am in the froch - taylor video. 3:27. bottom right. big dude with a red redsox shirt and a beard. i'm only in the frame for about a second and a half.
craziest fight i've ever seen live. the seats were awesome.
lol thats badazz! i can only imagine how insane the atmosphere must have felt actually being there
great contributions guys, here is another one that i just remembered. andrade got screwed over big time over what would have been an AMAZING comeback victory:
Reliving the Chavez Jr-Martinez fight lol... Look at the way Sergio gets thrown across that ring like a ragdoll. Golovkin must be licking his paws so bad.
Chavez-Taylor... what a WEEEIRDDDD stoppage....... amazing round, gives me goosebumps but just weird.
PS: Chavez looks way more mobile and better there than he did against Vera. And he is such a better fighter when he presses the action going forward. He throws some hard shots... would love to see him against Triple G.
Would love to see golovkin vs either chavez or martinez, i think ggg would be too much for both tho!
and yea great round by taylor-chavez, tough break for taylor tho
Thank you for this amazing thread, in Martinez vs Chavez I was about to die from heart attack
Yea the entire room watching with me went nuts when martinez hit the canvas!

Head movement- Whitaker

Body punching- Chavez
Toughness- duran
Counterpunching- marquez
His wins over malignaggi and Quintana are underrated. He fought them both in their primes, beat them down and took both their 0's. Quintana went on to beat pwill and paulie has shown recently that he can still fight. Obviously his wins over Mosley/Judah were good as well. The win that probably means the most to him is margarito 2 tho.
I also think Pac will have tko victories over Rios, marquez and Bradley by the end of next year
Broner will beat Paulie, and fight Mosley where he gives him a beating that finally sends him into retirement
Guerrero and Ortiz will fight at somepoint, with guerrero winning and then going on to lose to Broner afterwards
Canelo and Cotto fight next year, with Cotto being tkod and retired as well
Arum will say "**** it, he makes me no money so ill work with golden boy this one time" and he puts in rigo with mares in highly anticipated fight where rigo wins a tough fight
Angulo shocks Lara with a ko, Molina beats Smith which sets up Molina-angulo. Molina wins a clear decision
