What is a fight that went the complete opposite way you thought it would. I really thought for some dumb reason that Otto Wallin could stop AJ. But this was when AJ was trying to climb back up the ladder after getting out classed by Usyk twice.
It's easier to name the fights I got right, and this Yarde fight is one of the few I knew I was right on. Yarde took the path of least resistance up to his first title fight against Kovalev playing the ranking game and then we found out that Yarde never spars which was a handful of red flags. If you don't spar how do you get your timing down? How do you know what works and what doesn't? How do you catch the other guys timing? How do you work on defense? How do you maintain your energy? Lot's of red flags. Predictably after round 2 Yarde was gassed and KO'd. Afterwards his trainer Tunde gave a ridiculous interview that made me not even rate him as a trainer.
Afterwards Yarde drops the level of competition down, WAY DOWN, with the only spike ups being losing to Lyndon Arthur then avenging that loss with a KO. Let's be honest: Lyndon's ceiling is European level. Now Yarde jumps up way in class to fight Beterbiev. He losses again by KO.
Once again Yarde fights a handful of "Who the F are they?" guys culminating in a third, unwanted and uncalled for, fight with Lyndon Arthur which he wins. Now he again jumps up in class to fight Benevidez and losses once again by KO.
Do you see the pattern here with Yarde's career? Yarde fights low level comp to his first title fight, loses. Yarde fights low level comp till his second title fight, loses. Yarde again fights low level comp to his third title fight. With no top 10 guys on his resume other then Arthur to give him good fighting experience, it's easy to predict Yarde's third title fight.
theres been plenty of them but first one that came to mind was
oscar vs pac i thought oscar was gonna win and win easy just too big and too smart for pac
but i was completely wrong
For me it was Wilder vs. Fury II. I was so convinced Wilder would land something big early, and then Fury just steamrolled him. I re-watched it later on fubotv and still couldn’t believe how wrong my prediction was. Funny how certain you can feel before a fight, and then reality just flips everything upside down.
Crawford canelo
I figured Crawford would stay in range like he always does giving canelo a chance but actually Crawford was great both inside and at controlling distance for most of the fight
Fury vs Francis. That was something that should have been in a sparring behind closed doors, and while discussing unrelated topics like luxury apartments Florence, Fury embarrassed himself on the world stage.
Fury usyk I thought fury would be too big and have good stamina but usyk stamina is next level
I was wrong picking beter vs bivol but both fights were close so I guess not waaaay off.
A fight that went completely the opposite way for most fans was Anthony Joshua vs. Otto Wallin. Many thought Wallin’s size and unorthodox style could give Joshua trouble, especially since Joshua was trying to regain momentum after losses to Usyk. However, Joshua controlled the fight, landing clean power shots and winning convincingly, showing that he was still a force to be reckoned with despite recent setbacks.
I believe Buff Guy Yarde v Dave will be highly competitive bout
if either gets mopped, great job by the mopper
well well Dave MOPPED Buff Guy Yarde
Dave's career best performance
Lennox Lewis - Razor Ruddock. And learned not to overvalue a “good account of himself in losing” from the 2nd Tyson fight
I picked Ruddock too, there.
And, speaking about Lewis, I was convinced he would lose against Andrew Golota as well after having watched the latter batter Riddìck Bowe.
Going way back, I figured Holmes to zoom Michael Spinks in their rematch, and then a year later, Gerry Cooney to steamroll Spinks. I also expected Hagler to turn back Sugar Ray. I figured Nunn over Toney and Razor Ruddock over Lennox Lewis. Actually, in four of his biggest matches I figured Ruddock would do it, but he always found a way to lose.
No he didn't you're just an idiot.
Some say the 4th fight was the best.
I say the 1st fight was
WarPac had JMM down 3x in the first rd.
JMM showed Pac what a warrior really looks like.
JMM should have won that fight.
So we have fight 2

Check the punch stats :dunno:
Fight 3

Checked the punch stats
Of the 4, 3 was Pac's best.
Should be, at best, Pac 1W
JMM settled all doubts in that epic 4th fight :boxing:
I mean just recently for me:
Parker-Wardley - I did not see how Wardley could win that fight after seeing him get so thoroughly outboxed against Huni.
I was seeing way more people than I expected picking Wardley outright, so I was already getting nervous beforehand. I was wondering, "what have I missed about Wardley; is my view on Parker old and stale, and just plain wrong?" I think it was the Parker end of it
You're not alone in that one. He got completely out classed by Hunni then God reached down and made sure he won. Just watch Usyk completely outbox Fabio for 11 rounds and then out of nowhere everyone loses a lot of money lol.
Sergio Martinez vs Cotto
I was one of the ''If Sergio is at even X% crowd he'll destroy Cotto'' crowd. I learned a valuable lesson from that one.
Danny Garcia a good few times but I thought Matthysse would literally end his life.

Too many. Definitely Canelo-Crawford. Still shocked how bad Canelo looked against an older, smaller fighter. Munguia Surace.. dude was a 20-1 favorite coming off a Canelo fight, then got starched out. Ruiz - Joshua was wild.. last minute replacement came in looking like a muffin, got beat pillar to post for 2 rounds, then knocked AJ out.. completely changing the course of his career.
PWill/Margarito
I was a huge Margarito fan at the time (P Will too)
Real quick - I was nervous before that fight because obviously Williams was really good; and me and my dad had attended one of Margarito's early fights after reading about him in the paper.
It was against a tall southpaw who you might even remember, Rodney Jones who'd fight at the Forum once in a while. Margarito lost handily - I've never been able to find video of that fight, but I guarantee had you seen it beforehand, you probably would have had second thoughts.
It was a lesson fight for me as well. I didn't want to believe a loss or struggle against a similar style so distant in the past could rear its head again, but it can.
