I'd like to get as many opinions as I can bc I feel like 140lb (jr welter) has been 1 of my favorite weight classes to watch since 2000. It's been stacked with top p4p fighters since that time many of whom have had great talent but only a handful have been KO artists like today's Lucas Matthysse. The 2 fighters I think of right away are PAC and Cotto. Cotto had that vicious left hook that was called "the biggest punch in boxing" according to hbo's Jim Lampley and showtimes Al Bernstein on diff occasions from 04-06 before his move to 147 where he kept ko'ing people but not as consistently as when 140. And I'm sure everyone recalls pac vs Hatton at 140 which is still the most vicious ko I've ever seen in our era. but PAC only fought once their I believe. Who in your opinion is the hardest 140 lb puncher of recent memory?
that's how u know how highly regarded PAC is... dude had ONE fight at 140 and he's universally being considered as the hardest puncher in over a decade!!
I'm surprised Maidana hasn't got a mention yet, he's up there IMO opinion. It's also a shame we never got to see Edwin Valero at 140 because I think we'd talking about him being in this category had things been different.
him and mosley should get a pass into this conversation

Tszyu!
Definitely Kostya Tszyu, Ricardo Torres, & Hatton with Cotto & some others just below them, & definitely Gatti, Nicholas Cervera & Miguel Angel Gonalez, & Carlos Maussa, then probably Matthysse all in that order
1. Kostya Tszyu
2. Ricardo Torres
3. Ricky Hatton
4. Miguel Cotto
5. Arturo Gatti
6. Nicholas Cervera
7. Miguel Angel Gonzalez
8. Carlos Maussa
9. Lucas Mathhysse
10. Kelson Pinto
That's my top ten of guys that retired within the last 13 years or are still going.
Didn't Pac only fight Hatton at 140? Granted it was a stellar KO but you can't have one fight at the weight( against Hatton no less who Floyd already KO'd) and say they were the best puncher this century, or one of them at least. I'm not saying Manny is a bad puncher, but that you need a bigger sample size. I would say Cotto/Mattyse and Tszyu.
It's true Pacquiao only had one fight at 140 and he showed great punching power in that fight with Hatton. Pacquiao has been a great puncher at all the weights he fought at before Hatton and when he went up to 145-147 for Cotto, De La Hoya and Mosley that same great punching power was still there. I think if he had stayed at 140 his punching power would have stayed great. It's hard to imagine why he would not stay just as hard a puncher. He really was and still is a 140 pounder that fights at 147 so he does not need to lose water weight to make weight. In other words if he is a bomber at 135 and a bomber at 147 then it's safe to say he is a bomber at 140.

I would give Matthysse the first place for hard punching 140 pounders because of his two handed punching power.Pacquiao was a very hard puncher with both hands but his left hand was his great power punch. His right hook was a hard punch but not as hard as his left. Tszyu had a great straight right but his left only rates a good.Cotto had a very hard left hook especially to the body but also to the head. He was a left handed fighter that fought from the right handed stance. His right hand only gets a fair rating. So for overall punching power with both hands I rate Matthysse the hardest, Pacquiao 2nd, Tszyu 3rd and Cotto 4th.
