Gatti had much better boxing skills than Khan, more so at the lower weight classes. The only asset Khan had that was superior to Gatti was his athleticism, that's about it. When Gatti wanted to be defensive, move his head, upper body, he was able to apply that, though he would still get hit. Khan on the other hand seems incapable of doing that.
Gatti was also more offensively gifted, more textbook, had a great left hook, straight right hand, he committed to his power punches, while Khan throws flurries of arm punches. People want to act like the TS is disrespecting Khan, when it is Gatti being disrespected in my opinion. Gatti wouldn't have ran from Peterson, would have destroyed Maidana in my opinion, wouldn't have gotten K.O'd against Prescott and he would have given a much better account of himself against Danny Garcia.
As I've said before, Khan is decently skilled with great athleticism, that's about it.
Take Bernard Hopkins for example, Hopkins was an offensive machine in his prime but equally as good defensively as he's ever been. Part of this is because while Hopkins made a good habit of keeping his chin tucked in, he also made sure his right shoulder was 2-3 inches above his chin while unveiling the straight right hand, and vice versa when he jabbed.
Khan should cut down on combinations, look to throw single/ very meaningful punches. Also like Hopkins, use his shoulders to cover his chin. For Khan to implement this, it all goes under shadow boxing, muscle memory, a strict trainer who's constantly gonna get at him while he's sparring. Sounds like a stretch but this is what he needs to do because if he continues like this he'll never reach the elite level.
Matthysse has an underrated defense, but as I've said Garcia is a counter puncher at heart, he'll punch with Matthysee. I really don't know who to pick here, Matthysse's main problem used to be starting slow but that seems to have changed looking at the Soto fight. Very tough pick to make...
Hes basically a blogger for another site that people write into and he writes back and tells people what he thinks. He claims that he is like 90-0 in arguments although I destroyed him and he wouldnt post it. Instead he said send your friends what I said and let me know what they think. Hes one of these guys who thinks he knows 10x what he actually does.
I wouldn't even bother with someone who says he's 90-0 in arguments, I mean...who the fuck is he? :lol1:
Nacho is probably the best trainer in boxing right now, but I prefer Steward. He'd really get on Amir's case, scream at him if he has to, and emphasize on making Khan fight behind a stick.
Are you kidding me? Narvaez was undefeated at the time and was a killer at 115!
Donaire had a very good chance of losing and I'm very surprised he made it out of that fight alive!
I almost thought you were serious, but as for Donaire experimenting he damn near could have lost his last fight.
People who don't know much about Narvaez will knock that fight, it is what it is.
I think he's alright, but he was severely outsized against Donaire, one could even say criminally outsized. I knocked Narvaez for his performance, but had he fought any other way, he would have inevitably been knocked out in my opinion.
..not even at 135 guerrero was ever a puncher in which is a must to beat khan unless your better skilled than him and guerrero aint by any way , shape or form better skilled than khan...khan by wide UD..
You gotta be a complete dumb ass to think Khan is more skilled than The Ghost.
Khan's chin is decent, or I should say it's closer to good than decent. People want to place the entire blame on Khan's chin when in reality it's his defense, I don't understand how people could be so blind. What Maidana, Peterson and Garcia had in common was that they all could land the overhand right consistently, Khan simply can't avoid that punch. The counter left hook may have started it for Garcia, but it was a multitude of overhand rights that finished it.
Seriously, gonna say it again, very impressive mitt work. Broner is an improving fighter and he's heading in the right direction if he continues to perfect his craft. I like a fighter who emphasizes on perfecting each punch, that's how mitt work is suppose to be.
hate the kid if u want, but tell me he doesnt have the makings of a very good fighter.
That was a beautiful performance, without a doubt he does, he's an improving fighter.
You're not addressing the facts. He doesn't fight inside, doesn't throw body punches, backs straight up and holds on till the ref separates him. He doesn't use his hook as often as he could and rarely attacks in an aggressively. He's ko's come from playing it safe, plain and simple. And just because he sells out doesn't mean he's exciting. Floyd sells out and I don't find him very exciting either.
You said it perfectly Jab, and this right here is my issue with the Wlad and Vitali. They aren't versatile, they're dominant but this is why I usually don't find them entertaining.
Opinions are opinions and one should respect them, but I honestly can't respect a poster who has Pacquiao rated #1 on their P4P list. What has he done lately, when was the last time he actually put on a good performance? Let alone one that parallels his status in the sport. Andre Ward has been dominant against tough opposition, I can't even imagine how any writer would still have Manny ranked higher P4P. Even Martinez has put in more work, on top of that stopping his last few recent opponents. People need to get past their, I don't even know what to call it anymore but it's disgusting to say the least :nonono:
Wish Marquez would stop wasting time facing bums, he's already up there in age, it's sad because if he really wanted to he could accomplish so much more. If Marquez did all of that, as someone said, he would be the most accomplished fighter in this era. It's unrealistic though.
You can still be a seek and destroy type of fighter and still be technically brilliant, Mayweather from 130-140 was exactly that for the most part, as was a prime Bernard Hopkins. Whitaker, as much as I love to watch him destroyed Roger Mayweather and Haugen.
:lol1: This thread deserves a bump after the fight.
Guerrero coming off of a long lay off- Check
Guerrero coming off of an shoulder injury- Check
Guerrero moving up two weight divisions into Aydins natural weight class- Check
Aydin is in beast mode training 24/7. The guy pretty much sleeps, eats, and trains. Adyin does't need to run his mouth to the media about how tough he is. He will let his hands do the talking and Guerrero can dream about the Mayweather fight all he wants when he gets put to sleep.
Honestly, for Guerrero to lose to Aydin, he would need a lot more handicaps than that. Even with the bold, Guerrero is still gonna dominate Aydin and stop him.
guzmman aint EVER been that good, he was the rios the khan, the ortiz of that short lived spotlight.
As a fan of Marquez you should have known this, Juan's weakness is a mover, someone who isn't gonna allow him utilize his counter punching. Guzman would have dictated the pace and forced Juan to become the aggressor and that alone takes him out of his comfort zone. Joan also had the defense and durability to hang with Marquez.
In the bold, plenty of people I've spoken to recognize his talent and many talk about how he's underachieved. This has always been constant with most boxing fans too. Guzman is an all around great fighter, as avoided as he's been he also has himself to blame for most of his problems. Guzman is in the right track right now and personally, I think he's good enough to beat anyone at 140. One would have to be a fool to think a fighter of Guzman's talent is gonna be kept locked away.
Aydin's work rate, activity, conditioning is that of an out of shape HW's. He telegraphs his punching too much and doesn't put his punches together well enough. Again, Aydin got out boxed against Jo Jo Dan and while he won the rematch, he didn't look impressive at all, he was also hurt and stunned a couple of times. I would also say his chin is questionable. Guerrero will not only dominate Aydin, he's gonna stop him.
People need to wake up, Guerrero isn't gonna lose out on the Mayweather sweepstakes by losing to an extremely limited fighter in Aydin. They call this sport the theater of the unexpected, and while that holds true...Aydin ain't beating Guerrero. Aydin is like a poor man's Maidana, with slightly more power.
Khan never learns anything through his defeats or tough battles, so this notion that he'll come back stronger shouldn't be taken seriously as he tends to come back with the same holes in his armor.
Also, Froch > Khan in terms of resume and skills.
