The HBO live card starts off at 10 pm ET when Welterweight Keith Thurman (17-0, 16 KOs) meets Orlando Lora (29-2-2, 19 KOs) in the scheduled 10-rounder
Followed but the main event, Broner Vs Escobedo
Lets get it started:boxing::boxing::boxing:
I love the way everything gets tied to the undefeated atg CalzagheWhen does daggum ever have a post that doesn't mention Floyd, Calzghe or Ottke in some way?
broner's the real deal. i think he will have an even better and even more undefeated career than the great joe calzaghe.

First off he's going to 135, secondly who said he's a once n a lifetime fighter? Thirdly you want a 22 year old prospect to skip 2 weight classes to prove to haters like you what he's made of? Why don't the same rules apply to Martinez when it comes to fighting at 168 or 175?
You wasting your time.

His father said he was a once in a lifetime fighter. He is even too big for 135...rehydrating almost 20 pounds is insane. He should be at 140 right now....and Martinez started fighting at 147...he is already up 2 weight classes and he is 5-10 beating guys that are over 6 feet tall.
If dude wasn't a punk, he wouldn't have as many haters I would imagine. Couple that with the blatant disrespect for the CONTRACT that he signed, he deserves more hate.....if he showed honor, I'd like him more. He wants to act a certain way to make people do one of two things: Like him or hate him....it's marketing (I hope), I chose the latter, you chose the prior...simple difference in choice. You will watch him to win, I'll watch him to lose.....either way he wins right? :lol1:
I don't it's fair to compare him to Berto.
Atleast Broner has skills, and a style.
I think its a much fairer comparison than comparing him to mayweather.
He really lacks the defensive awareness that Mayweather has, nomatter how badly he wants to have them. He is much less fluid, and he gets touched up WAY more than Floyd ever did, pretty much exactly like Berto did.
what you are trying to say without sounding like an a-hole is broner is being hand fed easy opposition just like berto was. this is true but most people just don't care.
I could say it like that and not sound like an a-hole. Is what it is.
Again, just referencing what we're getting on HBO on that point.

after checking out your subsequent posts i think i've got a better understanding of what you were trying to say.
the only thing those two have in common are the speed and power
berto had great speed coming up. he was never a good boxer.
broner is a very good boxer. damn good. lightyears beyond where berto has ever been, even at 22.
you're right about one thing, it's all about what he can do against larger men now.

For all his attention, he's never beaten anything more than a fringe contender in one of boxing's most shallow weight classes. Take away his belt and he's fighting at the fledgling contender level. We'll see what he can do sometime around 140, because Lightweight isn't that much better right now.

Comparing what they were allowed to face on HBO during development is perfectly fair. I think he'll end up a better pro.

I find it more hilarious that people think Rios's pressure would do nothing to make Broner uncomfortable. As if Broner copying Mayweather's style means he can adapt to any situation the same way, when in reality he's never shown any ability like that.

LOL, i don't know what you were watching, Broner ain't all that you guys are hyping him up to be.
When i watched i noticed that Escobedo's biggest downfall was his lack of power, that's where the size difference came into play. His shots had no effect on broner, nothing for Broner to think twice about. Soon as Broner knew this he started to walk him down.
Same thing was "suppose to happen " with Ponce De Leon, but Broner felt PDL's punch, and it still packs decent punch at 130. He wouldn't open up in fear of getting tagged with a hard shot. He got outworked.
Broner also looked really bad against journeyman Fernando Quintero, who took the fight on short notice, and was inactive for a year!
Lol, this guy is not staying at 135lbs long, maybe 2 fights till he wont make 135 no more and he'll have to move up to 140.
Whats gonna happen when he faces better pressure fighters with good shins, when he faces Mathysse/ or decent countering Garcia who could easily trade his right for his left hook . Broner moves up, he's either getting stopped or outworked.
I hate to piss on your parade, I'm Just calling it like it is, and i don't see all the hype, Broner just beat C level Escobedo who has some miles on him, and didn't even make weight. PDL gave GB a scare, so now he's been matched carefully since then.

I completely agree with you and I do think that Rios would make Broner uncomfortable for a while. The problem is that Rios is just so damn easy to hit and although he has a strong chin I'm just not sure that he would be able to stand up to clean bombs from Broner for an entire 12 rounds.
