Exciting to watch & very vulnerable. He's either going to bomb you out, or get bombed out. His defensive liabilities have never been corrected & he's very far along in his career. I don't see the ring IQ of say a Barrera or even Cotto to be able to change his style to make up for his flaws.
Much props to Garcia for ending the undeserved hype & saving us from a painful & worthless ppv. Khan has got to do things differently or keep us awed with exciting fights that he's gonna win or lose big. Warrr Khan!!:boxing:
I'm not making this statement up skill wise. I'm talking from an excitement point of view. Did you even read the opening post?
I think Victor Ortiz is a better comparison. Very skilled fighter who has the ability to look really good at times but is fatally flawed. Fights are always entertaining because he could put on a masterful performance or do something inexplicable. I'd love to see the 2 of them fight at 147 in the near future. I think Ortiz wins because I don't think Khan has enough power to get Ortiz out early and then Ortiz stops him, but it would be a hell of a fight while it lasted.
Well ideally there would be no ppvs, I just thought you thinking Khan was exciting you would rather see him on a ppv then the less exciting ones.
I don't buy ppv's no more. I prefer quality over excitement if I have to pay.
How many ppv's was Gatti in again?? Yeah what does exciting have to do with ppv?? How many fights of the year were ppv??

Huh, I thought you just said he was an exciting fighter?

Gatti?
Gatti was most dangerous when he was hurt...Khan get's hurt, its pretty much done
exactly...gatti has more chances of winning when he goes toe-to-toe with his opponent. khan is the opposite, him getting close to his opponent is like a trigger to a bomb waiting to explode on his chin.
Khan is def an action fighter, I'm ready to watch him fight again this weekend ffs lol. but he hasnt quite had a Gatti moment......he almost pulled one off, he started to fire back against Danny and I almost thought he would have a moment where he stunned him back but it never quite happened. If Khan had avoided the final knockdown and made the end of that final round who knows..at the very least I think the crowd would have overwhelmingly started to pull for him

Khan will leave Roach and get a payday on his way out. Again, Who noticed the right hands Garcia landed to AK's body? (ribs) That's what put him on queer street. IMO...
Gatti had much better boxing skills than Khan, more so at the lower weight classes. The only asset Khan had that was superior to Gatti was his athleticism, that's about it. When Gatti wanted to be defensive, move his head, upper body, he was able to apply that, though he would still get hit. Khan on the other hand seems incapable of doing that.
Gatti was also more offensively gifted, more textbook, had a great left hook, straight right hand, he committed to his power punches, while Khan throws flurries of arm punches. People want to act like the TS is disrespecting Khan, when it is Gatti being disrespected in my opinion. Gatti wouldn't have ran from Peterson, would have destroyed Maidana in my opinion, wouldn't have gotten K.O'd against Prescott and he would have given a much better account of himself against Danny Garcia.
As I've said before, Khan is decently skilled with great athleticism, that's about it.
I have to respectfully disagree with the Gatti comparrison. I think New England pretty much nailed it in saying Gatti had unbelievable powers of recouperation. Gatti is the one that got me in to watching the sport, you'd be watching these two sluggers stand there and take unbelievable bombs... Gatti would take a punch that made him crosseyed, and then turn around and return fire and flooring his opponent. Or Gatti would get floored off a punch that would land him on his ass- and you'd be thinking 'oh sh1t it's over, even if he gets up, surely he's done'.... only to see him get up and fight on as if it had very little affect on him - AND come back stronger! If you really sit and think about the type of back and forth wars Gatti was in (esp. the Ward fights)... the type and ammount of punches Gatti took - and continued on to mostly win, I couldn't even imagine Khan withstanding a third of what Gatti went and came through. Not saying Khan hasn't had hard fights, just saying I don't think the comparrison is in the right ballpark IMHO.
However, I think I get what you're trying to state. Both very exciting with tons of flaws - and maybe their desire to entertain and please the fans, over boxing smart and being more defensive, could be their biggest downfalls.
Respect!!:beerchug:

I agree and the same can be said for Ortiz; which is why I'd like to see those two do battle next.....
It's almost a certainty that that particular fight doesn't make 12. But Ortiz bangs him outa there IMO.
