Tarver looked so bad in the BHOP fight after he dropped weight. Tarver faced a smaller fighter that night and i believe if he fought a natural LHW he would have gotten KO'd.
Roy just got old. To me once he came back down from HW he was never the same. Dramatic weight loss at that age really takes it toll.
I'm not totally smashing the idea that he was on Roids it's just too little evidence to even consider it.
That fight right there made me dislike Roy. After the fight when he said he went in with the purpose of not to get KO'd and not win I was disgusted.
But unless some real proof comes up about him using roids it's just hearsay.
Why is he buying supplements anyways like Ripped Fuel. Shit sounds like something that would have steroids in it, if you want a great body you have to work for it not take all those bs over the counter shit.
lol thats funny
Wlad learned to control his emotions in the ring. If he let his killer instinct take over......well just see the Brewtser fight.
I wish he would let it go more too but a disciplined Wlad is tough to beat.
Can WK paw his way past Briggs or others? WK has great fighting form, but vs. Brock he seldom threw anything decent. There was a lot of pawing and measuring, except for the 5th and 7th, both rounds WK dominated. I wonder: is WK a better fighter because of Steward? Considering Steward's reputation I say that he is not. He often paws, pushes his jabs, does not get extension on his jabs, and is afraid to get hit. While his endurance has improved somewhat, I think his pace should be faster for a guy that has about 10% body fat and is 30 years old. When will Vitaly come back???
Wlad was just in there against a a fighter whose defense was under-rated. Only thing Brock didn't do was move side to side. He stood in front of Wlad but held his guard high and ducked alot in an attempt to bring the taller fighter down alittle and try to get him in range. Wlad since getting Steward on board has been alot more conservative and disciplined( since Wlad major problems were gassing out while trying to put people away).
Wlad finally figured out Brock and disposed of him shortly there after.
It's because all the big, quick big men coming go into football and basketball and all the ones that dedicate themselves to boxing try to make the quick buck and by pass the amauters.
Floyd has been dominant since he begin his boxing career. He has never had any kind of real trouble in the ring and although that should further enhance his stature as a truely all time great I think it'll hurt his legacy going out like that.
He was never truely tested in the ring and to be considered one of the greatest of all time you need those brutal wars that test your heart and will.
At this point in your life training for boxing part time won't get you where you need want to be by the time you hit your so called boxing prime. If you want to a professional with a chance you have to make up for some lost time and dedicate your life to it.
but like everyone said everyone is different.
Show him Jones/Griffin 2. The one fight where you see Roy's killer instinct and anger. I think Roy didn't take enough chances with his talent and skill and wish we could have saw more of the Roy that entered the ring that night.
DOn't get me wrong Pac and Winky would be atop this list if it was best fighters. But the list is for most complete fighters. WInky lacks power and Pacman lacks proper footwork and defense.
After the 1st Tarver fight I respected Roy for giving Tarver a rematch after the 1st fight. The way he dug deep and pulled through for the last rounds in that fight showed me Roy actually dealing with adversity for the 1st time. Then when I finally see Roy perform like a champion he goes and throws it all away by going into the Tarver III fight with one intention. NOT to get KO'd, That made me sick to my stomach and that tainted his legacy in my eyes.
I'm getting it. I could wait for the replay the following weekend and watch it for free but that just means I have to stay away from everything boxing for a full week so I don't ruin the fight.
Byrd lacks power and since Wlad's biggest issue is his china chin(He seemed to fix his stamina issue now that he's under Manny) it doesn't look good for Byrd.
Tarver is a good fighter but no where near the top and definitely shouldn't ever be mentioned among the likes of SRR, Ali, Leanard, etc. He hasn't fought enough to be considered great.
He may be able to talk trash like Ali but he's no where close to Ali in the ring. Hell, I can talk trash just as good but you don't see me on any p4p lists.
