Why doesn't Tarver get the respect he deseres

Tarver being ugly as sin has nothing to do with how good or great he is. On a scale of 1 to 10 I'd rate him a 7 as a fighter. But damn he is fucken ugly. I bet his mom is asshamed of herself.

I will tell you why tarver gets no respect. It's because as someone put it, he looks like a chocolate covered earth worm. Even james toney was calling him a chocolate monkey. When you look like that you don't get no respect!

Tarver is a good fighter but no where near the top and definitely shouldn't ever be mentioned among the likes of SRR, Ali, Leanard, etc. He hasn't fought enough to be considered great. He may be able to talk trash like Ali but he's no where close to Ali in the ring. Hell, I can talk trash just as good but you don't see me on any p4p lists.

tarver isnt as talented as any of those guys, and is considerably less talented than rjj tarver was not screwed out of the first decision, but he probably should have gotten the nod over johnson all and all, tarver has had three "big" opponents, and has lost to all of them oh, and screwed agasint harding??? did u see the fight tarver, lost a pretty close, but decisive decision BS Tarver got knockdown in the 11th, but still should've won the fight. He was won the most rounds IMO...Anyway Tarver has been a better fighter since then. He just had an off night.

I have no idea why this guy gets no respect from anyone. Boxing writers, judges, fans.. they all screw this guy? How is it that in most P4P lists Tarver doesn't even crack the top 10? How is it that he got screwed of of 3... count em' 3 decisions?(Harding, Jones, and Johnson) Ive seen many talented fighters in my day(Sugar Ray, Pernell Whitaker, Buddy McGirt, JCC, and Tarver is just as talented as all these guys IMO. Tarver is just a nothin special champion, his skilss are average he is not a knockout artist like Julian Jackson not as skillful as Michael Spinks or Roy Jones. He is on par with guys like Clinton Woods, Juan Diaz. SUPERSTAR HE IS NOT

Tarver uses phrases like "By Gollie". I'm a Harding fan I'm a Jones fan Its hard to like the guy but credict do he is a great fighter.

to clear the age thing up on how roy was old when they fought cause there the same age.(roy career jus started early so in a way he is older cause of the physical and mental punishment of boxing) and ppl dont respect him cause he is the ugliest boxer in the sport without a doubt!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

hmm Tarver doesn't get much respect because he thinks he can take it and not earn it. Beating a 35 year old Roy Jones (especially given the cirumstances of the win) do not make you great. I'll give him some credit in that Johnson is a good fighter (certainly not a journeyman like some here would have you believe) but, all in all, Tarver wants to take his legacy from Roy which just ain't gonna happen. He needed to beat Roy 3 years ago for that to be fair.

I like Tarver. Somewhat... That said, I don't like the way he fights in many middle rounds. Respect is often what people give when they see a fighter give his all, all the time. Tarver slacks long and often... I still shall go and watch him every chance I have, though. Partly, to see if he KOs his opponent, but also to see if he has conquered the tendency that I don't like in him. ;) Note: Those comparisons with Leonard et al.... I'll pass.

He bloomed to late....I really like Tarver though and think he is P4P top 10 material all day and good Job at not being completely of basis TWF :D

His most memorable wins are against a 34 year old Roy Jones which he lost the first fight but it was close and against a journey man who he lost his first and won his second and the same journey man knocked out Roy Jones, so why should I like him? Tarver should let Roy Jones Jr. retire.

I think twospeed was closest...he should get a lot of respect vs Jones...but keep in mind he is 1-1 with Jones and 1-1 with Johnson...beating Jones in the IIIrd fight will separate him from Jones at this stage and he will be able to start breaking out into his own

Because he don't deserve it, got no legacy, and is tryin to ride the coat tales of an old man who just might kick his ass to try to get one.So you beat RJJ at the end of his career so what !!!!
